The verb is found = decide in P Tebt I. 17 .2 (B.C. 114) ἐπεὶ διέγνωσται , and ib. 55 .2 (private letter late ii/B.C.) ἐπεὶ διέγνωκα ἐξοδεύσειν ε [ἰ ]ς Τεβτῦνιν τῆι η̄ ἔκρινα γρᾶψαι , since I have decided to travel to T. on the 8th, I have determined to write to you (Edd.). The phrase ὁ βασιλεὺς διαγνώσεται occurs several times in the long papyrus regarding the affairs of Theodorus, the architect, P Petr III. 43 (B.C. 245) : the editors render the king shall take cognisance. The same formula occurs in P Amh II. 29 .18 , a contemporary document. It is to be classed with other instances of the technical legal use of διαγινώσκειν , which appears in Act_24:22 . Cf.
