Full Transcript

The Bible says that God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. Throughout Scripture, God uses the most unlikely sources to communicate His message. The foolishness of the message preached is the power of God.

The foolishness of the cross is what God has given us. There's nothing that gives me more strength in the scenery of open air preaching than knowing that the holiest men that ever walked this world were the least of all men, and they were a spectacle. Christianity has always known open air preaching.

We see it with Jesus in Galilee. We see it with Jesus in Jerusalem. We see it with the Apostle Paul, whether it's on Mars Hill or whether it's sitting by the riverside in Philippi.

Now why is it a surprise that God would have preachers proclaim His gospel in the highways, byways, and rooftops in our cities and neighborhoods? It sounds foolish, but it's how God has ordained it. We shouldn't be foolish unnecessarily, but we must be willing to be a fool for Christ. Then Christ Jesus was publicly crucified as a wicked man.

So you're going to tell me that God had it in His heart to publicly crucify His very own Son and then not command the public proclamation of His resurrection? Not only does He confound the wise with the foolish, but He's well-pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe. And that just gives me grace to know that I'm in God's will, for He wished to be wise in this day and age and must become foolish that He may become wise. The method that God uses to make the dead alive, to make the blind see, and to globally proclaim His message of love and justice through the crosswork of Jesus is the public proclamation of the gospel.

The Bible tells us, do not let your mouths be stopped. Proclaim it from the rooftops. If anything chains us to pulpits, we among all men must be pitied.

We're to go out and we're to proclaim the truth everywhere, at all times, in all places, that all the world might know. Yes, yes, yes, people do find Christ when we go out and preach Him. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and through the Word of God, in combination with the public proclamation of the gospel, is how God saves.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. God has chosen the public proclamation of the gospel as His primary method to save those that believe. I have a question for you.

Are you ready to be heard? Is God calling you to publicly proclaim His gospel of grace in the streets? If He's calling you, what are you waiting for? Go, stand, and speak. It's that simple.
