Michael Scott Horton (1964–) is an American preacher, theologian, and professor known for his influential work in Reformed theology and apologetics. Born on May 11, 1964, in Los Angeles, California, he was raised in an Arminian Baptist church but embraced Calvinistic beliefs as a teenager after studying Romans 9. Horton earned a B.A. from Biola University, an M.A. from Westminster Seminary California, and a Ph.D. from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, through Coventry University, followed by a research fellowship at Yale Divinity School. He is an ordained minister in the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA) and has served as associate pastor at Christ United Reformed Church in Santee, California. Horton is married to Lisa and has four children. Horton’s preaching career is closely tied to his academic and media roles. Since 1998, he has been the J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary California, where he teaches and mentors students. He founded Sola Media, overseeing initiatives like the White Horse Inn radio show and podcast, Modern Reformation magazine, Core Christianity, and Theo Global, through which he preaches Reformed doctrine to a broad audience. A prolific author, he has written or edited over 40 books, including The Christian Faith: A Systematic Theology for Pilgrims on the Way, Christless Christianity, and Shaman and Sage. His ministry emphasizes covenant theology, biblical authority, and practical faith, leaving a significant legacy in evangelical scholarship and preaching
