One day this couple came and they wanted to get a divorce. I turned to the man, I said, did you choose your partner, your woman, freely? Nobody forced you? He said, yeah, no, freely. I said, did anyone tell you you're marrying a saint? He said, what? I said, did anyone tell you you are marrying a saint? He said, no.
I said, okay. Daughter, did you choose him freely? Yes. Did anyone tell you you're marrying a saint? No, father.
I said, then what is your problem? None of you are saints. So what are you expecting? What are you expecting? If you're seeking perfection, you need to find Christ. Not each other.
Not discover each other outside of Christ. Not get to know each other outside of Christ. Not build hope on one another outside of Christ.
Because when you have an expectation of a human being, no one will deliver. Because there is no human perfect except Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The only one who says and does is Christ the King.
No human says and does. No one. Everybody fails.
We make promises, we break them every single day. But there is only one that promises and never goes back on his way. That is the Lord Jesus.
This woman seeked this perfect man. Because she realized from experience, you see it's not easy to be a sinner. It takes a lot of experience to be a sinner.
Because you would have mixed with so many people. You would have met so many people. You would have known so many people, so many situations, so many trials, tribulations.
So there is a lot of experience coming with the sinner. She realized all the people she met, all of them failed her. She put her hope on people and she was brokenhearted.
You know the number one enemy, the number one enemy to love is disappointment. Some people think what is the opposite of love? They think hatred. No, hatred is not the opposite of love.
The opposite of love is disappointment. You see hatred, when you hate something, you walk the other way. So what is the enemy of hatred? Walking the opposite direction.
Because you'll never go to a place you hate. You'll walk opposite to it. But what is the enemy of love? Disappointment.
Now disappointment kills one thing in a person called self-confidence. Self-confidence. When the Lord says, if you want to be a disciple of me, carry the cross and follow me.
Deny yourself. Some people think self-denial is a weak thing. No, it takes a man to deny themselves.
It takes a warrior, a strong-willed person to deny themselves. A weak person can never deny themselves. Because it takes self-determination, self-confidence, in order for the person to say, I live for Christ.
I choose to live for Him. Because living for Him is not easy. It takes a warrior to live for Christ, not a weak person.
Because what are you going to do when you walk through that dark tunnel for the sake of the Lord? What are you going to do when you are attacked and persecuted for the sake of the Lord? What are you going to do when you are humiliated, degraded and stepped on for the sake of the Lord? It needs a strong-willed person, someone who is self-confident to say, I follow the Lord Jesus. So you need to have self-confidence my dear friend. And self-confidence comes when you are never disappointed.
Disappointment kills love because it destroys self-confidence. The moment self-confidence is lost, love is lost. And what is that self-confidence in true love? I choose not to live for myself, but for the person I love.
Now that is self-confidence. I choose not to live for myself, but for the one I love. The Lord Jesus says, many sins are forgiven because they love much.
Be like this woman, Simon the Pharisee. You think you're educated? You think you're smart? You think you're faithful? You think you are loyal to God? This woman surpassed you by a hundred miles. Because she was not embarrassed to wash my feet with her own tees.
She was not ashamed to wipe them with her own hair. And by the way, the honor of a woman is her hair and the honor of the man is his beard. The man is shaved, but the woman's honor is the hair.
So what she said to the Lord, my honor I put at your feet. What is my glory? Step on it Lord. What kind of faith is that? What kind of love is that? Incredible.
From the greatest sinner to the greatest saint. You see, love is the supreme ethic. Love is the strongest ever in existence.
And at the same time, the weakest ever in existence. A person that truly loves is the strongest and the weakest at the same time. When you truly love, you'll go out of your way to do things, but you get hurt very easily by the ones you love.
One little tiny nasty word from your sweetheart shatters you to smithereens. But one nice little word make you stronger than Tarzan. Love is the strongest yet the weakest.
Love is light, but because you love, you walk through darkness for the sake of the ones you love. Love kills. That's why Jesus died.
Love truly kills. You will never, ever understand the concept of sacrifice until the day that comes you truly begin learning how to love. I pray for everyone who is married.
I pray for everyone who is engaged. And I pray for everyone who is looking to be engaged. Please don't do it.
Just kidding. You must build this relationship on Jesus Christ of Nazareth. You must.
If you're going out with a girl, my son, on a serious note, yes? Oh, boyfriend, girlfriend, this is nonsense. There's no such thing. There's no such thing as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Two girls become friends, yes. Two boys become friends, yes. But boy and a girlfriend, no.
Doesn't work. It does not. Maybe the guy loves you as a sister, but maybe you are falling in love with him.
He's wasting your time. Kick him. But on a serious note, when you find this girl and you go out the first time ever, or maybe the second time, okay, you don't want to scare her off.
The first thing you ask the girl and you ask him as well, both ways, do you love the Lord Jesus? Stop saying, oh, your hair is beautiful, your eyes are good. If he starts talking about you, say shut up. It's not about me, brother.
I'll ask you this, don't love me. Do you love the Lord? Do you love the Lord? When I ask you, let's say tomorrow we are married. When I say to you, we go to church, are you going to come? When we have children, are we going to raise them in the love of Christ? I can't do it on my own.
Both must be together. If he says, I don't believe, don't hope you're going to change him. He can change you more than you changing him.
Don't hope. Don't deny what is right before your very eyes and live a dream. Stop living a dream, live reality.
And vice versa, if she says, I don't like going to church, I'm not a church goer, I'm a club goer. Pack yourself and leave. Say, listen, I only go to one place called the church.
I only go to one person called Christ. I don't know Satan. I don't want to know Satan.
I don't want enough. I don't want anything to do with Satan. So if you, you mean it, that you like me or love me, then show me, don't talk, show me.
I'm weak, I need you. I want to go to Christ, but I'm weak. Can you help me? This is the relationship that must be built on the rock, on the rock.
And ask the Lord to help you to live for him. It's easy to stand here and preach or give sermon, but it's not easy to live with this man. It's not.
It's not at all. The Lord said it very clearly from day one to his disciples and everyone who follows him, says, you follow me, you'll be persecuted. You will be despised by the world.
There is no student disciple greater than his teacher, than his master. No servant is greater than his master and no disciple greater than his teacher. If they had done this to me, what do you think they'll do to you? So if you're expecting to follow me and live like a king with royalties and the world bowing before you, that will not happen.
The day the world bows before you as a Christian, you have forgotten your Christ. You've walked away from him. That's why the world is embracing you.
But as long as you are carrying the light of the world in you, the world will hate you 100%. This is the sign to say whether you are with me or against me.
