James M. Henry (April 18, 1937 – N/A) is an American preacher and pastor whose calling from God led him to serve First Baptist Church of Orlando, Florida, for 29 years, emphasizing biblical preaching and denominational leadership across six decades. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, to a supportive family—specific parental details are private—he grew up steeped in Southern Baptist faith. Converted in his youth, he earned a B.A. from Georgetown College in Kentucky (1959), an M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (1962), and received honorary doctorates from Georgetown College, Southwest Baptist University, and California Baptist University, grounding his ministry in both education and practical experience. Henry’s calling from God was affirmed with his ordination in 1960, leading him to pastorates in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee before joining First Baptist Church of Orlando in 1977, where he grew the congregation from 6,000 to over 10,000 by his retirement in 2006, earning the title Pastor Emeritus. His sermons called for personal faith and community impact, influencing millions through broadcasts on First Orlando Presents. He served as SBC President (1994–1996), chaired the SBC Spiritual Awakening Task Force (1991), and co-led the Reach the World Task Force (1993), while authoring works like Heartwarmers and Son of a Gunn. Married to Jeanette until her death in 2019, with three children—Kate, Michael, and David—and later to Kathy Ann Siegel in 2020, he continues to minister occasionally from Orlando, leaving a legacy of gospel-centered leadership.
