Full Transcript

It's necessary that we restore to the church and the world the reality of what sin is. That it is absolutely hideous, that it is thoroughly evil, that it's inherently wicked. It crucified the Savior, pierced His hands and feet with nails, tore open His back with a cruel whip, thrust the crown of thorns upon His sacred brow.

Our rebellion pierced His side with a spear. Our hatred ripped the beard off His very face. Our malevolent spirit soaked His sinless body with spit.

Sin is not a small thing. It is an evil beyond what we can imagine. Sin and compromise are evils beyond what we could ever think of.

A betrayal of the Son of God, a treachery equal to that of Judas who betrayed Jesus with 30 pieces of silver. You see, before the cross can bring healing to our life and salvation to our life, first the cross must undo our life. The cross, before it can bring forgiveness, must first bring condemnation.

The cross must literally condemn us. You want to see how evil sin is? You must look at the cross and the cross exposes the absolute hideousness of all of our sin. But then after we are undone by the reality of the cross and we see the reality of sin, then the cross is right there.

The Savior that was crucified for us is right there to bring the remedy that comes from that same cross. He is the only remedy. So the Father looked upon a race of people suffering under the weight of their sin and he sent his Son.
