Geraint Fielder (February 13, 1935 – January 27, 2016) was a Welsh preacher, broadcaster, and author whose ministry blended media outreach and pulpit preaching within evangelical Christianity for over five decades. Born in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales, to parents whose details are not widely documented, he grew up in a Welsh-speaking community, shaped by a strong Christian heritage. Educated at Barry Grammar School and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, he trained as a teacher before transitioning to broadcasting and ministry, influenced by his conversion and call to preach in his youth. Fielder’s preaching career began with local church ministry, evolving into a prominent role as a BBC broadcaster on Radio Wales, Radio 2, and Radio 4, where he delivered sermons and reflections, including Radio 4’s Prayer for the Day. A regular speaker at the Keswick Convention and other evangelical gatherings, he pastored St. Mellons Baptist Church in Cardiff for over 20 years, emphasizing gospel clarity and revival. His books, such as Grace, Grit and Gumption (2000) on the Welsh Forward Movement and Golden Moments (2002) on Scripture’s transformative power, extended his preaching voice. Married to Ann with two daughters, he passed away at age 80 in Cardiff, Wales.
