Gbile Akanni teaches that God calls for spiritual restoration in homes, likening broken families to dry bones that can be revived through God's breath and prophetic word.
In this powerful sermon, Gbile Akanni uses the vivid imagery of Ezekiel's valley of dry bones to illustrate the spiritual dryness and brokenness in homes today. He calls believers to recognize the dire state of their families and communities and to seek God's restorative power through prayer and prophetic declaration. Gbile Akanni encourages a movement of revival that begins in the home and extends to the church and nation, emphasizing God's desire to breathe new life and hope into every household.

And just to, for us to have a context, we want to read from Ezekiel chapter 37. Ezekiel chapter 37. We will start reading from verse 1 to verse 14.
I read Ezekiel 37 verse 1. The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, and caused me to pass by them round about. And behold, there were very many in the open valley, and lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord, O Lord God, thou knowest.
Again said unto me, again he said unto me, prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto thee, bones. Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.
And I will lay sinners upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live. And ye shall know that I am the Lord. So I prophesied as I was commanded.
And as I prophesied, there was a noise. And behold, a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above, but there was no breath in them.
Then said he unto me, prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, my son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God, come from four winds, come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me. And the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, our bones are dried, and our hope is lost. We are cut off for our parts.
Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, and shall put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land. Then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.
The Bible says that God spoke to Ezekiel. The Spirit of the Lord came upon Ezekiel, and he brought him, say, and set me down in the midst of the valley. The Lord brought Ezekiel down in the midst of a valley that was full of bones.
The valley was full of bones. And the Bible says that, Behold, there were very many in an open valley, and lo, they were very dry. Now, it's coming to my mind that the situation of our homes is like this valley.
That as this valley was full of very many bones, and that these bones were very dry, which means that they were in this condition for a long time. Now, before a bone is described with very dry, it must have been there for a long time. And as we see the situation of our homes, the situations of homes, even our own very homes, when we look inside, we can begin to see that something has happened that has rendered our homes dry.
Something has been lost that has caused our homes to become dry like bones. And very dry. When we look at our environment, our immediate communities, the places we are coming from, even our churches, our fellowships, where we are coming from, our people, our nations, our local governments, the state, the villages, all over.
When we look closely, when the spirit of God opens our eyes to see closely what is the real situation, we see that homes have been rendered as dry bones who are very, very dry. Life has been lost. Flesh has been lost.
Sweetness has been lost. Nothing to eat again. Nothing to enjoy again.
And the Bible says these bones were very many in an open valley. Now, see me, you know, helplessness. Helplessness.
And the Bible says that it was God who came to speak to Ezekiel. And it seems to me that God rose up now and was ready to act. But he would not just come from heaven and just do a miracle and cause these bones to rise up.
Now, God could do that. Couldn't he? He could just on his own come and raise the bones. But he had to come to this prophet and involve him.
And that's how God is calling all of us. Now, we noted that the Bible says he asked Ezekiel, can these bones live? The situation, looking at it literally, physically, looked very, very hopeless. But God had arisen now to do something.
Now, we went on to see that he told Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, which he did. He told Ezekiel what to say. He said, O ye bones, hear the word of the Lord.
The word of the Lord was going to come to these bones. And it was going to be the word of God that would cause something to come up, life to come back, shape to come back to these bones that became so dry and scattered. And we saw how the Bible says that, in verse 5, Thou saith the Lord God unto thee bones, behold, I will cause breath to enter into you and ye shall live.
Even among us who have come to sit before the Lord in this meeting. I hear God say he will cause breath to come into your dry situation. Your home that has become like dry bones.
God has brought us here to cause his breath to come into us, to bring us back to life. Now, we went on to see how a prophet, Ezekiel, prophesied exactly what the Lord told him as we saw in verse 7. He said, So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a noise.
There was a shaking. There was a shaking. Bone came together.
Bone to his bone. Praise the Lord. Do we believe God that such a thing shall happen in our midst, even today, even in this retreat? And that our community, our lands, shall begin to see God's visitation, even in the home.
By raising up this thing, he has begun to do in our midst. And we saw how, as he prophesied, the way the Lord spoke to him, the miracle that took place. Bone came to bone, sinews came, flesh came, and then, finally, the Lord asked him to prophesy to the wind in verse 10.
And he prophesied. And the Bible says that, verse 9 and 10, that the wind blew and caused breath to return into the hearts, into these lifeless bodies that were brought back, that were formed afresh. And the Bible says, they stood up upon their feet and exceeded great army.
Do we believe God has called us to do such a thing in our midst? Yes. They stood up. When we have been slain, and we have lain helplessly, hopelessly, the Lord has come to cause us to stand up again.
Whatever has slain us, they said, the devil that has slain us, see that has wrecked us. Ignorance, you know, the Lord says, for lack of knowledge, my people perish. The lack of knowledge that has brought destruction, serve the old sinful nature that has brought the giant down and has been wrecked in.
The Lord has come. The giant shall rise. Now, the Bible says, goes on to say that, and say therefore, prophesy and say unto them, say the Lord God, behold, all my people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves and bring you into the land of Israel.
There is a land that God wants to bring us into. There is a land that God wants to bring the home into. When the Lord has prepared to move now and is involving the home, there has to be a restoration, first and foremost, and to bring the home into the place it ought to be so that it can begin to move with it.
And finally, we saw that the Bible says, and you shall know that I am the Lord when I have opened your graves, all my people, and brought you up out of your graves. I shall put my spirit in you and you shall live and I shall place you in your own land. Then shall you know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it, say the Lord.
We are going to pay this money. This is the Lord sending us his word. He is the one that has determined to accomplish this in our lives, in our homes, in our generation.
He is the one that has seen our affliction. He is the one that has seen the situation. He is the one that has seen the condition of homes and has arisen now, deliberately, to come and do something.
So we are going to arise as we call on God this morning. Now, first and foremost, we need to acknowledge the terribleness of the condition of our homes. You as a person, you need to look inward and see the situation in your home, the condition in your home.
What are the instruments that the enemy has used to wreak your home? To render you to become bone, bone that has scattered and are not even together. What are those things that the enemy has used to wreak your home? To wreak you as a man, to wreak you as a woman, as a wife, and even to wreak the children because the home is both the father, the mother, and the children. Now, we are going to call on God that even for our own individual lives, our homes, that we will experience this situation that the Lord is talking about in this scripture as we read it.
All that the enemy has used to slay, to slay this, our home, would be it in blindness, be it ignorance, where it is this old sinful nature, this self, this old man that has wrecked our homes. We are going to cry to God, he who has come, let him speak his word into the homes. Now, secondly, I want to call on the Lord that the word of God, the word of prophecy, he will send it to us even as we are gathered in this retreat.
We are going to pray that there will be restoration, restoration in your own home, restoration in the homes, in our churches, that the Lord will bring restoration even in our communities, in our country, our nations from where we are coming. We are going to ask the Lord that even out of our own lives, our own homes, he will raise an army that he wants to use even in this day of his visitation upon the home on the earth. Shall we rise up as we pray together? Can we open our mouth and pray? Can you acknowledge the terrible situation? First of all, acknowledge the terrible condition of your home.
What is the present condition of your own home? Does it resemble the situation described in this chapter of Ezekiel? That it has become simply dry bones. That it has become bones. Very many bones.
Dry, very very dry bones. And as you look inward, what are those things the enemy has used to slay your home? What are those things the enemy has used to slay your home? Is it sin? Is it blindness? Is it ignorance? Is it self? Your old sinful nature? Is it a stony heart? Stubbornness? What is it that has slain this home? Can you open your mouth and cry to God for your own home? Acknowledge the situation of your own home. Your own condition and call on God for his mercy.
