Born in Asheville, North Carolina, to Billy Graham, the renowned evangelist, and Ruth Bell, a missionary’s daughter, he was the fourth of five children raised in a devout Presbyterian home in Montreat. A rebellious youth, he dropped out of Stony Brook School and LeTourneau College before finding faith at 22 in 1974, later earning a B.A. from Appalachian State University in 1978 after training at Montreat-Anderson Junior College.
