Eric Holmberg Discusses Go Stand and Speak Documentary

Go, Stand, Speak, The Forgotten Power of the Public Proclamation of the Gospel is an apologetic documentary on public preaching. It's based on Acts 520, where the angel of the Lord appears miraculously to the apostles, releases them from prison, and then commands them to go, stand, and speak all the words of this life in the temple. The Apologetics Group has agreed to jointly produce this film with Go, Stand, Speak Ministries, and I believe there's no better representative than Eric Holmberg, who, founder of the Apologetics Group, has produced over 30 Christian documentaries and has beyond proved himself to be the foremost expert in this type of revivalistic filmmaking.

Eric is a pioneer in the world of Christian documentary filmmaking, and by the grace of God, he's decided to take on this project. You know, we get approached with film ideas all the time. Many of them are good, but hey, there's only so much time and money in a day.

But when I first entertained the idea of producing the Go, Stand, Speak project, the thing that came to my mind was, you know, this is it. This is exactly what the church needs in this hour. A swift kick in the rear to get out of our comfort zones, into the culture, to confront evil the way the Bible tells us to, with the power of the gospel of the kingdom, publicly proclaimed under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Now this film tackles many questions that need to be answered about public preaching, or open air preaching, if you will, and about the preachers themselves. You know, especially during this time in history, Christians are asking, is public preaching biblical? Who should be doing it? Is it outdated? Why should we be doing it? You know, what should the message be? And many other questions. As with most of our films, this documentary isn't politically correct.

It will ruffle some feathers, and it's going to shock some people when they see how far our church and nation have come from the biblical mandate of proclaiming the gospel. If public preaching is the biblical mandate, the big question must be answered, and that is, why has the church, and most importantly, those called by God to preach the Word of God, why have they seemed to have forgotten about this method of proclaiming the gospel? Finally, in this time of spiritual crisis, as we're seeing the experiment in Christian liberty that is America, Great Britain, and much of the Western world come increasingly under the sanctions of a holy God, I firmly believe the Lord is going to use Ghost and Speak to spark the enlistment of hundreds, if not thousands, of public preachers. Throughout America right now, and beyond, there seems to be a quiet insurgence of public preaching, such as in the days of the great revivals of the past.

So the question is, is this a move of the Holy Spirit? Is God moving in a powerful way? And I believe that what you're going to see in this film proves that God is moving. And there's no better time, I believe he's calling pastors, elders, and evangelists, and all those called to preach, to get out and proclaim the gospel of the kingdom publicly. And this film shows them how and why to do it biblically.

By answering the who, what, where, and how of this most basic God-ordained methodology of advancing his kingdom, we're going to see many who are right now sitting comfortably in their pews, or in the pulpits of their church, thrust out of their buildings and into the highways and byways of the world, proclaiming the gospel of grace and building the kingdom of God for just such a time as this. Now we've interviewed a panel of the world's leading experts on public preaching, and I think that after any pastor, elder, leader, or any Christian for that matter, watches this film, they're going to see that the public preaching movement that is arising throughout the world is not what many people think. It's not just a bunch of radical Christians taking things too far and potentially giving the church a bad name.

It's God doing what he's always done, and that's he's moving. It's a move of the Holy Spirit that could quite possibly be the catalyst to the next revival among our nation and beyond. In the beginning, God has been all over this project, from the filming to the execution to the incredible men who have volunteered to be in this project.

This has been anointed and driven by the Holy Spirit all along the way. Those that are called must not hesitate. They must mobilize and urgently go.

They must obey the call without fear to go stand and speak the gospel at the gates of their towns, their cities, and their neighborhoods around them. Now our hope and prayer is that God is going to use this film to show those that are called to preach how and why to do that ethically, boldly, and biblically.
