A Definition of Revival

Revival is a return to God, characterized by spiritual renewal, renewed faith, and restoration to usefulness, brought about by the Holy Spirit's conviction and power.
Edgar Reich preaches on the essence of revival as a return to God and turning from sin, emphasizing the restoration of the church to a fervent relationship with God, spiritual renewal, and renewed faith. Revival involves the convicting presence of God's Holy Spirit, bringing awareness of God's holiness, love, grace, justice, and judgments, leading to deep repentance and a victorious Christian life. It includes total surrender to God, dying to the old self, and walking in the Spirit and righteousness of God in love, giving all glory to Him. Revival is marked by a fresh outpouring of God's Spirit on humanity, as promised in Joel 2:28.

Text

Revival is the return to God and turning from sin. It is the restoration of the church to a vital and fervent relationship with God. It is spiritual renewal, renewed faith and restoration to usefulness, after a period of decline, affecting the thoughts and moral behaviors of the people of God. Revival involves the awesome presence of God and His Holy Spirit convicting the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment. John 16:8.

The Holy Spirit manifested Himself in powerful and visible ways in the great Revivals of the past. He will do so again.

A Revived Christianity includes: A victorious Christian Life; walking before the Lord with clean hands and a pure heart and victory over known sin. It includes becoming aware of and respecting the Holiness of God, His Love, His Grace in Christ, but also His Justice and Judgments. God's judgments in the book of Revelation include the 7 Churches and describe horrible future events for those that have chosen their own way. This needs to bring us to deep repentance, including change of mind, turning around, going in the opposite direction and renouncing sin, without recurring failures. During the great outpouring of God's Spirit in Revivals in the past there was virtually no back sliding.

Revival includes a total surrender to God , the dying of the old self, and becoming one with Jesus Christ. The old person is crucified with Him and the new person walks in the Spirit and Righteousness of God in love. Revival is from God and all glory belongs to HIM. There must not be any credit given to anyone, except God.

Revival is a fresh outpouring of God's Holy Spirit on human mankind. In the last events before the "Terrible Day of the Lord", God promised in Joel 2: 28: "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh, Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions."
