In 2 Peter and chapter 2, we have a chilling description of churches run by false prophets who traffic in the souls of men, and that these false teachers will abound in the last days. Let me read you, friends, this alarming passage of scripture from chapter 2 and verses 2 through 3. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of, and through covetousness they shall, with feigned words, make merchandise of you, whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Well, I visited one of these churches, and the worship team kept talking about how the Holy Spirit was there, and they wanted to honor the Holy Spirit, and as they sang, their bodies swayed to the music, and they waved their hands over their heads, while colored strobe lights flashed in that multi-million dollar sanctuary that held 3,000 victims. I called them victims because there was a spirit there, but it wasn't the Spirit of God, but a prevalent demonic spirit that was imitating the Holy Spirit. How do I know this, you ask, friends? Well, during the service, they played an Aerosmith song.

I don't believe that God's Holy Spirit would attend a demonic rock song, but this spirit did, as it gave those people the warm fuzzies of a false religion. The demonic church is gaining an influence across this land, and many who are ignorant of their Bibles cannot discern the true from the false. It is a fact of Scripture, friends, that Satan can transform himself into an angel of light, and many today follow a false spirit, thinking it is the Holy Spirit.

The demonic church is a popular church, as our passage tells us about many there. It is a fun church. It is a growing church.

The demonic church I visited a few times. I had trouble finding a place to park in that huge parking lot as big as a shopping mall. People were crawling all over everybody's backs just to get in there.

The demonic church is a damning church, as Peter declares that she'll bring in damnable heresies. The demonic church has an unconverted minister for a pastor who is a false prophet who is loved by the people. This demon-possessed pastor is intent on destroying the souls of men, and he himself is so deceived, he thinks he's serving God by getting souls into heaven.

I visited this church from time to time, and every time there was that prevalent demonic spirit imitating the Holy Spirit, I would look around at the people sitting next to me, and they were caught up in that demon spirit. They raised their hands over their heads as they sang and as they prayed, and their hips swayed to the pounding music in that auditorium the same way they would swing their hips at a rock concert. Everyone there laughed at the funny stories and had a good time.

The pastor began his message by relating a story about how he vomited at a fair on a roller coaster, and he wouldn't stop talking about his vomit for about 10 minutes until enough people were shocked by it. Then he gave a feel-good message on being a Christian, but he failed to quote much scripture, and the verses he did he took out of context. I felt dirty being there, and my curiosity was complete, and I never went back to that crowded demonic church again, but the place was jam-packed this coming Sunday.

In our text, the apostle Peter mentions that these false prophets, these false teachers, traffic in the souls of men. In verse 3, we read, with feigned words, make merchandise of you. The pastors of these popular demonic churches typically have six-figure incomes, and they live in mansions behind gated communities.

They use their deceived congregation like a cow they milk for money, but in addition to bilking them out of their money in the name of God, they are damning their very souls for all eternity. The apostle Paul talks about such ones in the last days, and the men in the pulpit of these demonic churches in 2 Timothy chapter 3. High-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away. And that's the point of my message today, friends.

If you are ensnared in a demonic church, then from such turn away. Head for the doors and head for the hills to get close with God so he can lead you to a true Bible-believing church that honors God and preaches the real gospel. These are dangerous days, friends.

Be careful who you listen to. Let us pray.
