Lord Jesus, when you were a carpenter, you held a hammer in your hand. You are now a risen Lord with nail-pierced hands. Pick me up as your hammer, and hold me in the grip of your hand, and use me to pound away on the conscience of guilty man.
Lord Jesus, make me a hammer you can use to break up the foundation of a false refuge. Make me a hammer turned over like you'd pull a rusty nail out of a wall, and let me be used by you to pull a sinner out of hell. Let my voice awaken sinners like a ringing fire bell.
Let me be your hammer to make a dent in hell. Your word is like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces. Use me like a hammer to smash a hypocrite to pieces.
Use me like a hammer to give Satan a bruise or two. He's just a thief and a liar, and he could use some pounding too. Take me in your strong hand while life is in me still.
Drain what's left of me by hard hammering on sinners' stubborn wills. Pound me like a hammer and make the demons yell. Keep on pounding, pounding, pounding until you let me make a dent in hell.
