Great God Almighty, I beseech thee today to turn from your anger and to behold your backslidden church and show mercy, heavenly King, that you'll send a revival to your church in such a dry and thirsty day, that you invigorate your bride with a fresh dynamic and fill her with a power that will give your church authority in the land once again, that you send a mighty spiritual awakening that will grip this nation with a desperate hunger for the reality of Christ, that through this mighty spiritual awakening you will strike a nerve in the lost generation of youth today who live for the moment with no thought for eternity, that you will bear your arm and send such an awakening, it will wash over this country like a surging spiritual tsunami, that by it multitudes will be clutched from the very jaws of hell, sinners will be alarmed, consciences arrested and souls be safely brought to the foot of Calvary to behold a crucified Christ on a blood-stained cross, that this spiritual awakening will turn the heart of a nation back to the living God of the Bible and to bow at the pierced feet of his dear Son, Jesus Christ, that your church will fall to her knees in humility and desperate prayer and turn sanctuaries into Bethels where the people of God cry out to God in repentance as they turn from their wicked ways and seek you for this heaven-sent revival which we so deeply need at this tragic hour, that your people will form a band across this land and across the globe to make your word from Psalm 18 a reality. In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God. He heard my voice out of his temple and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils and fire out of his mouth.
Devoured coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also and came down and darkness was under his feet. O great and dreadful God, bow the heavens and come down.
Put the darkness of the devil's kingdom under your feet and send a plentiful effusion of your grace in the land that in your wrath you remember mercy and that you'll raise up a Whitefield or a Moody or an Evan Roberts for this hour of need, that you'll outpour the Spirit upon this land in a powerful awakening of your grace is the prayer of this poor preacher in the strong name of Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
