E.A. Johnston warns that rejecting the lordship of Christ and living in rebellion leads to eternal separation from God, emphasizing the necessity of full surrender to Jesus as Lord.
In this prophetic sermon, E.A. Johnston confronts the dangerous rebellion within the modern church that rejects the lordship of Jesus Christ. He challenges believers to examine their lives and warns that without full submission to Christ's rule, eternal separation from God is inevitable. Johnston calls for repentance, surrender, and a return to biblical holiness empowered by the Holy Spirit. This sermon serves as a sobering wake-up call to those who claim Christianity but live in self-rule.

Listen to me friends, I have a message tonight that is a matter of life and death, eternal life in heaven or the soul's eternal death in hell. My message tonight is about a church that told God to go to hell. Many today live their life in God's world in a state of rebellion against his son.
Every sinner in love with himself and in love with their sins tells God the same thing. Whether you are outside the church or inside the church, you tell God, you cannot rule my life for I will not receive the Christ of the Bible who sits on a throne ruling. It makes no difference, friend, if you are drunk out in the gutter tonight or a fornicator in a fancy hotel room or a member of this church.
If Christ does not rule, your life is lured, then you are dead in your sins and on your way to a much-deserved hell. If Christ does not sit on the throne of your life and rule there, then you have no pardon him. Whether you are sitting in a church or sitting on a barstool, it makes no difference.
If Christ is not ruling in your daily living, now this is where the rubber meets the road, friend. How many church members today who claim to have made some kind of decision for Jesus live a life of daily rebellion to a living Lord? The Lordship of Christ is the most hated doctrine in the churches of America tonight because nice little church members still want a piece of heaven without taking part in utter subjection to Christ as Lord of their lives. So-called Christianity in America today refuses to submit to all the rights and claims that Christ has on a follower of his for whom he shed his precious blood and died for.
You call yourself a Christian and can point to a long track record of service done to your own self-glory that is nothing more than dead works issuing from a dead heart of stone that refuses to bend the neck and yield to his yoke and rule. This generation of nice little church folk can rob a holy God of his glory by sin and think nothing of it. It's a living lawless rebellion to him.
I watch what I want to on TV tonight. I look at what I want to on the internet tonight. And if you don't like it, then just go on to hell is what this so-called Christian generation in America has told God.
Oh, we are going to run our life the way we want to. And if you don't like it, then go on to hell. I'm going to make myself happy through my self-gratification.
Whether I trample the blood of Christ or not makes no difference to me. I'm going to have my booze. I'm going to have my sex.
And you can look the other way or just go on to hell. That's what church folk tell God today. I will not have you to rule in my life.
I will not give up my rights to sin. I will not give up my covetousness in my mad rush of accumulation of wealth. I will do with my money how I want to because I worked hard for it.
And it's mine to do as I please. But they forget it is God who gives you power to get wealth. They forget he owns all the cattle on a thousand hills.
He is the God who says the silver is mine and the gold is mine. He is the God who says the soul that sinneth, it shall surely die. He is the God that declares, if any man come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it. And whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. But church folk today don't want to let loose of their life and the self-rule of it, nor are they willing to surrender to a living Lord and give up the throne rights to their life.
Rather, they've gone out and found themselves a God who won't get in the way of their daily living. But that God friend is nowhere to be found in the Bible. Rather, we stomp our feet and shake our fist of rebellion in the nostrils of a holy God and tell him, I will run my life the way I want it or just go on to hell.
Because the church in America has told God to go to hell. The Lordship of Jesus Christ is not taught in our churches and His Lordship is scorned from the pulpit to the pew. Pastors live in self-rule as much as their congregation and spurn any practical holiness and reject the Lord Christ as Lord of their lives.
Many pastors today run their church like a corporation. And if you get in their way, they'll just run you down. Whether you were God or not, they're gonna grow their church by the means they intend to.
And the Holy Spirit just better stay out of the way. Your average church member sits on the throne of their life and rules there until they die in their rebellion and sins. And bust hell wide open from an unrepentant, unsaved heart.
When the church told God to go to hell with their lawless lies of rebellion, they did it with their eyes open, with a seared conscience, and a hard, unregenerate heart. A born again believer will live on to God in a life of holiness by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit to whom they are yielded as they live in utter surrender and subjection to the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 14, 9 declares, for to this end, Christ both died and rose and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
I don't care if you walked to church as a little child and gave your heart to Jesus. If you are not living in obedience to him for his glory, then you have no business calling yourself a Christian. You make a mockery of God and all things holy by presuming that he will allow you in your self-rule as a rebel in sin into his holy heaven.
Christ shed his precious blood and gave his very all on a bloodstained cross for sin. And you tell me you can call yourself his follower and reject his lordship and rule over your life? You cannot, and he will not, claim you as his own when it comes time for you to die unless you are washed in his blood by repentance and faith in utter surrender to him. Every false professor who sits upon a rotten foundation of carnal security and rebellion and sin laughs in the face of the lordship of Jesus Christ.
This stuff we call Christianity today would only facilitate you into a devil's hell faster than a red Ferrari on a deserted highway, burning gas and squealing tires, blowing smoke in the face of a holy risen lord.
