In Isaiah chapter 1 we read, beginning in verse 4, Ah, a sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, A seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters, They have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked The Holy One of Israel unto anger, They are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken Any more? Ye will revolt, more and more. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint, From the sole of the foot, even unto the head, There is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises and Putrefying sores, they have not been closed, Neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

I will stop there, friends. Here in our text today, God calls Israel a sinful nation that has forsaken The Lord and provoked Him to anger. Through their continual rebellion and backsliding, He compares them to a sick patient, physically and morally Sick individual wrapped into bandages of her own decay And corruption that wreak and leak the pus of foulness And unsoundness.

I can't help in making the comparison Of this text to our own country of America today. No political leader can fix our problems. They're the way beyond the reach and control of man.

America is sick. She is sick physically with COVID-19 As that plague has gripped this nation worse than any other. America is sick morally.

America was once a God-fearing nation. It has become a sinful nation. There used to be a fear of God in the land, And a sense of shame in society.

America has lost her moral compass, And a morally sick society is fast spinning out of control. The youth of our nation have no morals And know no boundaries of decency. But besides all these, America is sick spiritually.

Her churches have become dead institutions That belong to apostate denominations Where God has been shoved to the background And man is elevated. The typical pastor today is chosen more on his personality And performance in growing churches. Little emphasis is placed on his call from God Or his walk with God.

Because the churches operate on money and manpower, God is no longer needed. And things like holiness are a taboo subject to be avoided. Sin must not be mentioned.

Hell must be a topic that is seldom ever brought to the fore. America sits today on seats of power and stacks of cash. But she is sick from her head down to her toes.

The Statue of Liberty should be wrapped in band-aids and bandages. Where once a nation used to look to God for guidance And to the church for direction, She now looks inwardly as she sits on an island Of self-indulgence and self-preservation. As you read the rest of Isaiah chapter 1, You see God, as he tried to reason with his wayward people By saying Israel will either become righteous through repentance Or God will achieve their purification through judgment.

In verse 18, he pleads, Come now, and let us reason together. Sayeth the Lord, Though your sins be as scarlet, They should be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, They should be as wool.

Through his remedial judgments, God is pleading with America to return back to him. It's either revival or ruin.
