Craig Atwood (c. 1960 – N/A) was an American preacher, theologian, and educator whose ministry has focused on advancing Moravian theology and history within both academic and church settings. Born in the United States, he earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.Div. from Moravian Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Historical Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. Ordained in the Moravian Church, Southern Province, he has served as a pastor and preacher, notably at New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, while also holding academic roles. Atwood’s preaching career has been closely tied to his tenure as a professor at Moravian Theological Seminary, where he joined the faculty in 2010, teaching courses on Moravian theology, Christian history, and religion in America, often online to a global audience. He has preached and lectured extensively across the U.S. and internationally, including in Tanzania, South Africa, and Europe, emphasizing the radical aspects of Moravian thought, such as Zinzendorf’s theology and the motherhood of the Holy Spirit. Author of award-winning books like Community of the Cross: Moravian Piety in Colonial Bethlehem (2004) and Theology of the Czech Brethren from Hus to Comenius (2009), he continues to serve as Director of the Center for Moravian Studies, blending scholarly preaching with pastoral ministry from Winston-Salem. Married with family details private, he remains active in his field.
