Text

Buying up the opportunity,

because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:l6

There's an unseen, priceless treasure,

Placed by God within our care

Precious hours with jewelled minutes

Making up the golden year.

Time is measured, not by moments,

But by tasks accomplished well;

Time redeemed is wealth eternal,

Which the Scriptures now foretell.

Seek the Lord's full approbation:

For ought else is worthless dross;

Praise of men, like wood, hay, stubble,

Only spells eternal loss.

Sorrow not o'er past shortcomings,

Present duties left undone;

Now invest the days remaining

Ere the course of time is run.

Fill thy lips with words of kindness,

Lift thy voice in earnest prayer,

Let thine eyes reflect the Saviour,

And thy hands a burden share.

With a heart touched with compassion,

Swift of foot to help the weak,

Occupy till His returning,

And His glory ever seek.
