Whoever Dares Wins!!

God lives and works today. He enjoys doing good things for His children, for those who trust Him and let Him be a father to them. Today's meditation by Basilia Schlink shares how one housewife experienced this.

She dared to take God at His word. Often people ask us why we're so happy. Our answer is because we love Jesus and because our Heavenly Father Himself takes care of us.

But then often their response is, well, it's easy for you to say this, to sing songs about how the Heavenly Father takes care of you and to say that you experience heaven on earth, but what about us? We live in the outside world, in the midst of the struggle for survival. Instead of giving you an answer to this, I'd like to share with you the story of one of our friends. She's a mother who strives to live every day at home according to the commandments of our Lord Jesus.

She wrote to us, our financial affairs were more or less in the hands of my husband. We lived with our children in the security of a happy home until my husband was suddenly called to his eternal home. Since we didn't have a will, everything ran according to state law.

The children were to receive half of the inheritance. One of the children was to be married shortly and I could tell by her actions, and she also mentioned it outright, that she wanted to have her share of the inheritance immediately, even though I wasn't in the position to give it to her. This came as a complete surprise to me.

Quick as lightning I could see the danger. There would be quarreling and lack of love in the family. It would be everything but a bit of heaven, Jesus' kingdom of joy and love, which I so much wanted our home to be.

And besides, I sensed that I would lose my daughter if I didn't fulfill her wish. Then I thought of Jesus' words when he said, blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. And if we seek first the kingdom of heaven, the Father himself will take care of everything else.

And then it was no longer difficult for me to make this sacrifice and to give up everything. So I promised my daughter the amount. Friends wanted to lend it to me, but a few days later I received notice from the bank that I had received a large amount of money, an inheritance that I never thought I would receive while this person was alive.

I was overwhelmed. How wonderfully the Father had answered. And in addition, God let us grow more closely together as a family.

Yes, if you dare to follow Jesus, as this woman did, on the path of loving, peacemaking, carrying your cross, losing your life and seeking first his kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, you too will experience how richly and wonderfully the heavenly Father cares for his children. According to Jesus' words, you will gain a hundredfold. You will gain earthly gifts, but above all, you will become rich in God for he cares and provides for those who dare to step out in faith and trust him.
