Where Can We Find Jesus?

God lives and works today, but perhaps you haven't experienced Him at work in your life. Are you one of those who are searching for God, searching for Jesus? Do you long to meet Him as a living person, as someone you can really know and love? Or, if you already found Him as your Lord and Savior, do you long to be near Him always? Today's meditation by Basilea Schlink will show us the pathway on which we can truly always find Him. Where can we find Jesus? Or, if we've already met Him, where can we find Him again, ever anew? Where can we always be sure to find Him? At certain places which are landmarks along His way.

But where are such places? Jesus can be found today in the same places where He was found 2,000 years ago. These places haven't changed. They are the places of humiliation and abasement, of surrendering, sacrificing, and suffering.

Allegorically speaking, we can hurry through all the streets and squares, like Shulamite in the Song of Solomon, and still not find Him, simply because we are not looking in the right place, because that place doesn't suit us. We know that if a bride tells her bridegroom she loves him, she proves her love by wanting to be with him wherever he is. If his job calls him to some foreign country, or to some other place which she would otherwise dislike, she shows her love by following him.

She wants to be with him no matter what it costs her. If we will look for Jesus where He is, we will find Him and have Him as the bridegroom of our souls. Then He will give us His bliss, His help, His power, His strength, everything we need, and all the ineffable wonderful things which are His.

No one can declare that he loves Jesus without longing to be with Him. The moment a bride is aware that she no longer wants to be with her bridegroom, she has broken the relationship of love. She ceases to be his bride.

There has been a separation. Very quickly it can come to a divorce. Earthly divorces are also but a reflection of what can take place between a human soul and Jesus, the bridegroom of our souls.

Such a separation takes place the moment we no longer want to be where Jesus is. True love for Jesus can only become deeper and more intense as we entirely desire to go with Him on His way of humiliation, of surrender and sacrifice, and to be with Him in the places that spell suffering and death for our ego. Let me bear every grief and cross, give my whole self to death and loss, so that I'm with you, Jesus.
