God lives and works today. One of the most serious signs of the times in our world today is fear. Almost everyone who is realistic has to confront his fear.
But whether our anxiety is about the present or the future, there is a way to overcome it. Listen to today's meditation by Basilia Schlenk called, Victory Over Fear. Darkness is covering the nations today.
Mankind is threatened to an extent that it is never known before. Insecurity, fear of crime, revolutions, catastrophes, and war rules in the hearts of most people today. Because God our Father loves his children, he doesn't want us to be tormented by fear or to fall into despair during times of destruction.
He wants to help us overcome our fears now and to strengthen our trust in him so that we will be able to be secure in the midst of fear and trouble, so that we will be as though we were in the mighty fortress. He will show us the way to this security. There is someone who understands our fear.
He is the one who bears it with us and suffers with us. In the face of the coming times of horror, he says, in the world you have tribulation. But he says more than that.
He says, be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. And therewith the fear which the tribulation will bring, I have overcome all. Therefore it is important for us to come to Jesus with our fear.
We must call out his victorious name over our fear in the firm assurance of faith. All fear must yield before Jesus, for he is greater than all the tribulation of this earth, which is filling me with fear. Wind and waves had to and have to abate before him.
He is the one who can help. He comforts fearful hearts and fills them with peace whenever we call upon his name. Jesus Christ, the victor's name, every knee shall bend before you.
Seated on the heavenly throne, all creation shall adore you. For your name such power wields, only triumph victory yields. However, our fear will not be taken away in a single day.
It's not enough to call to Jesus once, take away my fear. We must pray ceaselessly with steadfast faith. Even if I must wait a long time, one thing is still certain, Jesus is always victor, if I endure in prayer and faith.
So let us pray, sing, or call out again and again the victorious name of Jesus and all that he has done for us and promised us, and he will set us free from all fear that binds us. One name there is, one name in earth and heaven, one alone has glorious power, victorious might, it is the name of Jesus. Let praises ring aloud this day, that Jesus' name has power to break apart the fearful chains of sin that bind us.
