Unto Us A Child is Born

God lives and works today. In the child in the manger, God's fatherly heart has been opened up to us as never before. He is love, pure love, real and undeceptive.

This love wants to make us rich and happy, especially at Christmas time. But are we willing to stretch out our hands to receive His gifts? Unto us a child is born. Yes, unto you and unto me.

We will be hearing more about this joyous message in the following program by Basilea Schlink. Christmas, what a wealth of gifts and presents we give each other. And yet none of the gifts which we give can really make our hearts rejoice.

Perhaps they're even disappointing. All of our gifts and gift-giving are nothing compared to the one indescribable gift which surpasses them all. Unto us a child is born.

Unto us a son is given, of whom it is said, His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Isaiah chapter 9. So if we are weak in body, soul, or spirit, then He is our Mighty God. And if we accept Him when He comes to us, He will transform our fear and weakness into comfort and strength.

When we can't seem to solve difficulties or answer particular questions, then we must accept this gift of God lovingly into our hearts this Christmas. For if we open up the door of our heart to the Son of God, the child in the manger, something very astonishing will happen. Difficulties will become solved, and help will come to us in hopeless situations.

For He is our Counselor. Yes, this gift of Jesus, the Son of God, is a gift beyond any measure of man's comprehension. This child bears the name Wonderful, meaning that He does wonders and miracles.

He transforms circumstances into men's hearts. Perhaps a marriage or relationship between parents and children has gone to pieces. Now if someone involved surrenders his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, who is love and brings love, then all at once love and understanding fill that person's heart.

This love has power to reach out to the other's heart, and to heal the marriage or the broken parent-child relationship once again. Yes, this child bears peace for the world of unrest, because He is the Prince of Peace. The Son of God has been given to us.

That's the greatest gift of Christmas. It is love that lies there showing God's love in human form, that we might see love's pattern, which can our lives transform. The empty come to Jesus, go filled with love their way.
