God lives and works today. If you have a childlike relationship to God as your loving Father, you will experience His reality in every situation. But suppose you don't have such a relationship.
How can you enter into one? Listen to today's meditation by Basilea Schlink called To Talk with the Father. Heavenly Father, I am Thy child. Is there better to be found than such loving union? Oh, how blessed to be with Thee! Day and night secure to be by Thy love surrounded.
Does God seem far away from you? Do you feel you're too bad and sinful to have a close relationship with Him? Even though you've confessed your sins before God and men? Do you feel as if you're a hopeless case? As if nothing good can ever come out of your life? Don't think that way any longer. Instead, let's stop for a minute and come to the Heavenly Father and pray. My Father, I want to trust You at all times because You're so good.
I thank You that You do nothing more readily and gladly than forgive Your children. It's Your joy to cover us with the precious blood of Your only begotten Son, Jesus, so that all of our sins are washed away. I thank You, Lord, that the worst sinners, when they repent, are the people You love the most, because on them You find the blood of Your Son, Jesus.
His blood is our garment of righteousness. Thank You for loving the neediest of Your children. On them You can pour out the greatest of Your riches.
Thank You for accepting us poor sinners who really only deserve hell. But You welcome us into heaven when we trust in Your fatherly goodness and call upon the dearest name there is, the name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus. One name there is, one name in earth and heaven, one and alone, His glorious power, victorious might, it is the name of Jesus.
Yes, my Father, I praise You that You're so kind. Even when I stretch my mind to its limits to try to imagine Your goodness, my thoughts are still too small. Your mercy is deeper than the ocean, and who can fathom the depths of the sea? My Father, no one is like You.
You're nothing but goodness and mercy. Therefore, I'll be happy with my poverty and all my sinfulness, because I know Your eyes look down on me with pity. My very wretchedness entitles me to a special share in Your love and help.
Yes, my Father, I can always rejoice that I'm Your child. Why should I worry about whether I'm poor or rich, ugly or beautiful in Your eyes? I am and remain Your child. Nothing can separate me from Your love.
That's my happiness. Oh, my Father, what else could I wish for than to be Your child? Heavenly Father, I'm Thy child. Tell me, is there anything in the world more blessed? How can trouble hurt or harm while I rest within God's arm? God esteems me precious.
