God lives and works today. Throughout the centuries, miracles, signs, and wonders have been performed in His name. And this happens today, too.
He has promised, Whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that I will do. And His promise is just as valid today as when it was first spoken. Who can experience God's power the most? Whoever makes the most use of His name, calling upon the mighty name of Jesus.
Today's program by Basilea Schlink shares a true story about how a little boy experienced the power of the name of Jesus. In a certain children's home, there was one seven-year-old boy who came from a particularly difficult background. He had already been the cause of much trouble and distress.
One time, when I was visiting him and the other children, I gave each of them a little wooden block into which the name Jesus had been carved. I told them about how powerful the name of an important person can be, how all the people fortunate enough to know that person will use his name like a key to open many doors. Then I showed the children which name was carved on the little wooden blocks, a name which is more powerful than even the mightiest enemy, the devil.
But the children would have to try this out for themselves. Whenever they felt, now I'm going to be bad, now the devil is beside me, then they should say the name of Jesus aloud. And they would experience that the devil really has to flee.
The little boy was delighted with the idea. He took his little wooden block with him everywhere he went and actually followed my suggestion. And this little child's soul was allowed to experience what might and power truly lies in the name of Jesus.
Two months later, the housemother told me that amazing change had occurred in the child. Every time that he had wanted to be bad, he had spoken aloud the name Jesus, and it had really helped. Yes, there's power in the name of Jesus, not just great power, but all power.
For to Jesus has been given all the power in heaven and on earth. May we also make much use of this name, Jesus. May we sing a great deal of his name.
That is one thing the enemy can't stand, and he has to flee. A well-known German pastor, Blumhart, experienced this too. He called out, Jesus is victor, day after day in the battle of faith over a person who was possessed by evil powers.
Even when it cost him several hours of sleep, Pastor Blumhart didn't shy away from this battle until it was completely won. How many of us have been ready to sacrifice our sleep in order to call out the victory of Jesus over ourselves or over others? If we're poor in prayer and find it difficult to pray for longer periods of time, then we can always sing songs like this one. Let praises ring aloud this day, that Jesus' name has power to break the chains of sin that bind us.
One name there is, one name in earth and heaven, one and all. This name is now the key to paradise and gates of hell. Yes, prayer means calling upon the name Jesus, to whom is given all the power in heaven and on earth.
This name is the mightiest word of prayer for our salvation. You have been listening to a program written by Basilea Schlink of the Little Land of Canaan. To learn more about how God lives and works today, visit us at our website, www.canaan.org. That's K-A-N-A-A-N dot org.
