God lives and works today. How much money we are willing to spend on things that will make our lives a bit easier? New inventions, conveniences, patent formulas. However, King David of the Old Testament made a discovery thousands of years ago which can really make our lives easier.
Listen to today's testimony and meditation by Basilea Schlink called The Best Solution. In Psalm 118, verse 8, we read, It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Can this be a solution to all our problems? Yes, because it shows us the possibility of trusting in the Lord, a Lord whose very name is a guarantee that he won't disappoint us or forsake us.
His name is Yea and Amen, which means, Yea, the Lord has spoken, and Amen, so shall it be. However, if we put our trust in man, we will be disappointed time and again. To thee, Father, I surrender as my helper and advisor, my whole self in all its need.
I will trust, though fears surround me and my cares pile up around me with no loophole for escape. Yes, if you trust in him when you have difficulties and problems and believe that it is better to take refuge in him, he will indeed prove to be a helper who is always ready with his aid. Yes, he will prove himself to be a father and will take care that you have all that you need.
Mother Basilea, the leader of our sisterhood, writes, I have experienced this a countless number of times in the face of many difficulties and seemingly impossible situations. I have experienced it so often, I could write a whole book about the miracles of God in answer to prayer. And so, my favorite name for God has become Yea and Amen.
Therefore, I would like to pass this advice on to you. Do not seek help from people when you should be seeking it from God alone. God is waiting for you to talk over everything with him and to expect everything from him.
He is waiting for you to lay your needs before him alone and to give him your whole heart. He is a father and he has a fatherly heart. He loves each and every one of us more than we could possibly imagine.
You will experience how kind the Heavenly Father is when you trust him. He will come and open his heart to you as much as you open your heart to him and desire his love, his help, and his advice. So, seek him and leave everything else behind.
He should be the one, he alone, whom you trust. Yes, O Father, I can trust thee, Who dost help and deal so justly, Firmly plan with thy sure aid. So I thank thee now already, For thy promise sure and steady Cannot fail to come to pass.
