Redeemed to Give

God lives and works today. Just as a great musician is honored when he plays beautifully in spite of a bad instrument, so God is glorified when He can demonstrate His redemptive power on our bad character traits. Yes, it is His joy to create something new and beautiful out of the most hopeless cases.

This is joyful news for all those of us who suffer under our sins and bondages. Today's program by Basilea Schlink called Redeemed to Give will be sharing with us some helpful advice for all who have trouble with selfishness. In 1 Timothy chapter 6, the Apostle Paul writes, The love of money is the root of all evil.

He's referring to selfishness and stinginess, which is an especially serious illness of sin. Therefore, we must be set free from our selfishness at all costs. And this selfishness is more or less in all people, even if it's not so obvious in some of us.

Selfishness shows itself wherever it's hard for us to give away something. That can happen in many areas, depending upon what our heart is especially attached to. Selfishness is the opposite of love, which gives away everything and makes us and others happy by doing so.

Therefore, let us declare war on the selfishness in our hearts and lives. Jesus warns us so urgently, Watch and be on your guard against avarice of every kind, for a man's life is not made secure by what he owns. Luke 12 At the same time, Jesus reveals to us the main root of stinginess.

We are blind and cannot see what the real treasure is, the treasure in heaven, God himself. If God is the great love of our lives, then we are rich in him and will not be attached to the riches of this world. Then we'll be able to let go and give things up for his sake, because he will give us abundantly everything we need in our lives here.

Yes, the way to get rid of this destructive stinginess is to let go. But who can do this? Only those who have found complete abundance in Jesus and at the same time, in faith, count on his promise, Give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. Luke 6 We must dare to let go and give away what we would rather cling to.

And if we take this step in love for Jesus, we will experience that he will act according to his promise and give us a hundredfold in return. Jesus has redeemed us from the futile ways inherited from our fathers and has transplanted us into his kingdom where love reigns. Jesus, you are my redeemer.

I trust in your great might. Jesus, you are the victor. For me, you won the fight.
