Out of Love

God lives and works today. Because He loves us, each day He gives us new and wonderful possibilities for our lives. Have we ever consciously thought about the opportunities of a single day? What might they be for you and me for this day? Listen to today's meditation by Basilia Schlink.

Perhaps you are just beginning your day. Or perhaps you're well into the day and busily carrying out your tasks and responsibilities. Whatever you're doing, let's stop for a minute and turn our hearts to God the Father.

Let's say to Him, My Father, I thank You that You've given me this new day and so many wonderful possibilities. Let me use this day in the most beautiful way by sowing many seeds of love. Love for You and for others.

Don't let the day come to a close without my having brought You joy, my Lord Jesus. Show me how I can make You rejoice, how I can bring You my thanksgiving or sing You a song of love. Help me to spend much time with You in prayer and to bring You and the Father all my trust.

In everything that I do today, let me say in my heart, for You, for You. And may all my activities be inspired by love for You, for then they will bring about a rich harvest. Yes, dear Lord, I want to bring You my thanksgiving and love today.

Especially when my soul is in darkness or when the world around me is dark with sin. For during these times I can show You true love, the love that comes through faithfulness. Lord, help my love to be so steadfast that I will continue to follow You, even when I don't feel You or sense Your love for me.

Help me to faithfully carry out Your will in every aspect of my life, obeying Your commandments through my faith in the power of Your redemption. Above all, let me use this day to fulfill the great commandment to love my neighbor as myself. Let my love stream out to each person, even those who are difficult to bear.

Help me to show Your love to them by responding with goodness, mercy, kindness and forgiving love. Give me eyes to see where I can help or serve my neighbor, how I can bring him a little joy, show him a bit of kindness or bring him comfort. I thank You that You, the God of love, have given me this day and that You have only one desire.

You want to fill our hearts ever anew with the love that we lack through the power of Your Holy Spirit. I believe You and trust You. You will make me into someone who can love, who bears Your image, and then I will be truly a happy person who radiates Your love and joy.

Dear Lord, let me become like You, bring love in me to birth, spending my love upon others, the love that makes heaven on earth.
