God lives and works today. In this day and age when everyone is looking for new thrills and distractions, God has given us something, or rather someone, who can completely fill our lives and fascinate us. Today's meditation by Basilea Schlink is the testimony of a woman who made this exciting discovery.
Are you searching for something? For something that will satisfy you and make you happy? I have an answer for you. It's God's answer, the answer of Him who has created you, who knows you and loves you, who wants to give you what you're searching for. He says, if you seek me, you will find me.
No one searches in vain for my presence. No one searches in vain for my help. Are you searching for security? He can give this to you.
No one else can. Are you searching for satisfaction? The one who never lies and never disappoints says to you, I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10, verse 10.
Many people have experienced this. One girl wrote, I was just cooking supper with a fellow student when she told me that she always reads the New Testament over and over again because Jesus fascinates her so much. Everything he said and did simply captivates and overwhelms her again and again.
This hit me like a brick. I knew that I could believe even in great need. I knew that I could pray and experience answers to prayer, but that Jesus could completely fill and fascinate a person, that I didn't know.
My life has suddenly found its deepest longing. Later, this same girl was so drawn by the magnetic love of Jesus that she left everything to follow him. She gave up a promising career and many other things in order to serve the Lord full time.
Her colleagues, who only wanted the best for her, were full of misgivings and concerns. They pointed out everything that she would lose and forfeit. It wasn't that they weren't proper Christians.
It just didn't seem possible to them that Jesus could so completely fulfill a person's life. But at that time, an intense longing filled the girl's heart. She wanted to be able to say one day, with the weight of her own life, Jesus is enough.
Jesus is worth it. Today, years later, she can testify, Jesus has become more glorious to me than I've ever dreamed. Nothing and no one can so fascinate and fulfill our lives as much as Jesus.
So turn today to Jesus Christ. Give him your life completely. In return, he will fulfill the deepest longings of your heart.
