God lives and works today. He wants to manifest His Kingdom in the world and He wants to use us as His instruments. However, He can only do this when we have faith, daring faith.
How can we acquire such a faith? The answer is in today's meditation by Basilea Schlink. In what way can we come to daring faith? To persevering and earnest prayer? To prayer with a contrite heart? Are these gifts only for special people? No, God wants to give these gifts of prayer and faith to all Christians. And in our Lord Jesus Christ they have all been manifested.
We need only take the next step. That is, we must stand on the assurances which the Lord has given us through His Word or through a special Bible verse given in a certain situation of need. Jesus says, Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you receive it and you will have it.
Every Christian can apply this promise to his prayer life. The more we are charged with zeal for the Kingdom of God, the more urgent it is for us to take advantage of His promises. Why is it that we believe so little, that we hardly know the faith that moves mountains as is promised to us? Doesn't the trouble lie in the fact that in view of all the impossibilities, difficulties and needs, we are still able to live as usual? That it really doesn't bother us that God performs so few miracles and deeds in our lives? However, true faith continually makes new goals of faith for itself.
These goals of faith must, of course, be inspired by the Holy Spirit and rest within the boundaries of Holy Scripture. But only when we have such goals will miracles happen. Therefore, if nothing is happening in and around us, it is a sign that our love for the Lord is too small and poor.
For if love were burning within us, we would have a goal of faith. And when a goal of faith has been set, the Kingdom of God will come. Souls of men will be changed and impossibilities will become possible.
How much would happen in our personal lives and in our churches if we started to have fixed goals of faith in our hearts? Therefore, let's start to pray in faith, counting on the Lord's help. With God, nothing is impossible. With God, nothing is impossible.
