God lives and works today, but what do we do when things go wrong in our lives? Do we begin to doubt His existence and rebel against Him, saying, How can God be a God of love and allow something like this to happen? Today's program is a testimony from the life of Basilea Schlink, which can help us to learn how to go through the difficult times in our lives with joy and confidence. I've often been led along paths which shattered all of my hopes and desires. My prayers got no answer, and I could not understand what God was doing.
But then I realized the time has come when the reality of my love is to be tested. Even though I don't understand God, He's waiting for me to prove my love to Him by loving His will. I knew that the will of God is always good, for it springs from a heart of love.
Therefore, His will is love. I began to sing of the goodness of God's will, how His will is only love. The paths that He has planned for me are always good.
God's will is goodness and loving-kindness, so good the ways by which He leads. This helped me to surrender my will completely to His, and peace came into my heart. The fellowship of love, the union with Jesus, was there again.
I had raised a barrier against God when I rebelled or sighed, when I asked why, and now that barrier had fallen. We should always understand this. If our unity of will with God is broken, so is our unity of love with Jesus.
We have ceased to abide in Him. We have fallen out of the first love. Therefore, the nourishing of exclusive love for Jesus means fighting against even the smallest thought of rebellion against God's will.
Love for Jesus is like a tender little plant. If the right soil is not there, it will not grow. Rather, it will wither.
And the right soil is the unity of the will with God. Do we realize how lovingly Jesus regards this little plant growing in our hearts? Should we not strive every day for this dedication of our will? In no other way do we have such a wonderful opportunity to bring joy to Jesus and our Heavenly Father. Every time we dedicate our will to God, in the event of our everyday lives, the union of love takes place.
This is an absolute and certain union, and therefore the purest and highest union there is, for it is a union of love with God. Find peace and true contentment within thy will of perfect love. You have been listening to a program written by Basilea Schlink of the Little Land of Canaan.
