God lives and works today, but perhaps you don't feel that way. Do you see no way out of your problems and suffering? Does everything seem hopeless? Then now is the time that God can do His greatest miracles. The promises of the Bible are true, and as we read in Proverbs, if we wait for the Lord, He will help us.
Today's meditation by Basilea Schlink called Blessed is he who can wait shares what can happen when we're willing to wait. There was a time in our sisterhood when it seemed that we were in an impossible situation. This caused us so much suffering.
What was so hard at that time? Our goal of faith was to acquire Canaan, the land that God had promised us for our commissions and where we live today. But at that time, it seemed impossible. To be sure, God had given us promises for this land, but the authorities in charge had said no, and so there was an iron lock on the door to this land.
God seemed to ignore our prayers. Yes, the more we prayed, the more hopeless the situation became. God seemed to veil His fatherly countenance more and more.
Yet Mother Basilea and Mother Materia laid one question upon our hearts. Can we wait? It all depends upon whether we belong to those who can wait. If we had said back then, I've had enough, I quit, God just doesn't answer.
Then, there never would have been a Canaan where people from all over the world can join us in praising the fatherly goodness and wondrous power of God. But blessed is he who can wait. Yes, blessed, for if we wait patiently, we bring joy to God's heart.
When He sees that we are children who beg and wait, then He cannot help but let our waiting end in fulfillment and joy. He responds to humble waiting with a stream of blessing. We have literally experienced this on our land of Canaan.
What seemed to be impossible, the Lord brought to a wonderful fulfillment. He gave us the future that we longed for. That's why we would like to pass on a cheerful watchword that we've learned from this experience.
When it seems as though there is no way out of your spiritual or physical problems, wait on God for His help and salvation. Blessed are those who can wait. Their waiting will be turned to joy.
For those who wait, there will be a blessed fulfillment here and above, because when we hope in Him, God will not let our hopes be disappointed. Yes, blessed is he who can wait.
