God lives and works today, but perhaps you don't feel that way. Perhaps it's hard for you to believe in a God who seems so far away. But in your heart you wish that you could believe, and wish that you could experience personally His reality and love.
Today's meditation by Basilea Schlink will tell you how you can experience this. You've fallen down. You're dirty.
You no longer dare to approach God. He seems to be so far away from you. But it's exactly now that God the Father is waiting for you.
He waits for the child who's fallen down, as a mother waits to wash her child who's become dirty. He wants to cleanse you in the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. So don't be dismayed when you begin to see yourself for what you are in reality.
A poor, weak, sinful being. When you repent of your sins, you'll come close to God, drawing His love close to you. Yes, those who repent are truly alive.
For after weeping over their sins, they find their hearts are filled with rejoicing. The joy of knowing God's forgiveness takes us to greater heights than any other joy. Yes, when you humble yourself like a little child, when you admit your guilt and repent, then the joy of heaven will come.
For the kingdom of heaven, with all its blessings, in a way of security, holy care-freeness, and blessed love, belongs to children. However, being a child of God must be practiced through lowliness and humility in everyday life. God's children ask people to forgive them.
They humble themselves before others. They're willing to take the last place. If you're prepared to become like a child in this way, you will experience the truth of the promise.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to children. Yes, already here on earth you'll taste something of paradise and what it means to be a child of the Heavenly Father. Repentance.
What a creative, life-giving power is inherent in this. For this reason, our Lord Jesus and Peter too, on the day of Pentecost, commanded the churches of his faithful followers, repent. This is the way to be brought to life and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
For it's in repentance that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. It's in repentance that we find our risen Lord and Savior. Yes, it's in repentance that we come to the right relationship to our Heavenly Father again.
What else do you desire below? A little piece of heaven? Believe that Jesus loves it so. He loves the poor again. With Jesus on the heavenly day and out is heaven now.
So come and hear the world we say. Receive your sonship now. Our sinners find God's promise sure.
Who sorrow for their sin. Repentance is the entrance door. God's mercy brings them in.
To us, O poor, God's great sheep belongs their heavenly land. O God Himself so rich will be His blessings in our head. You have been listening to a program written by Basilea Schlink of the Little Land of Canaan.
