One of the songs which has really blessed me is the one I've chosen for today and the first line goes like this, let me sing for the glory of heaven like a sunbeam has swept on my heart. I don't know if you know that song but many times when I even read these verses my heart is uplifted and I am encouraged to praise the Lord and thank the Lord. It's like the tune and the words of it are like the feeling we get when a storm is over.
The last few days we had stormy weather here and when the sun finally comes out and the rays, the rays of the sun come into our rooms and into our hearts what a joyful feeling that is or when we go to some scenic place with a lot of trees and we sit and meditate on God's creation and we think of the Lord and a spirit of thankfulness comes in our heart that's a joyful feeling. Growing up in my childhood days I grew up in a mountainous area with a lot of trees outside our home and we had a lot of rain too and sometimes after the rain in the mornings when the day had just begun we could hear the birds singing in the trees. It's so beautiful to hear those birds and one bird especially I remember.
The music, the song that that bird made sang was like a tune. It was like a two or three lines of a tune. I wish I could have recorded that but it's in my heart here when I think of that and sometimes we would open the door quietly to see which bird was making that beautiful sound.
But as soon as we opened the door the singing would stop. It was almost like the bird was saying I'm not singing for you all to hear I'm singing for my creator and that that sound of that bird and that thought often comes to my mind when we sing whether we are singing for our creator or whether we are singing to entertain others. Today we heard about Babylon there's music in Babylon but there's music in heaven too.
I praise and thank God that we can even on earth sing praises to the Lord. We can thank him for all his good gifts. We can thank him for his everlasting love.
That's what this verse, this song speaks about and above all thank him for sins forgiven for forgiving all our sins. For a parent we as parents we know one of the most beautiful sounds that we hear from our children is when they laugh and when they're happy or when they say good things to us and they're nice to each other or when they're thankful. That brings so much joy to us.
How much more joy our heavenly father must be having when he hears from us a word of thankfulness. It's easy to thank God and think of his creation when we think that the wind and the stars and the sky all of creation express their thankfulness to God but what about us in these COVID days? We cannot go anywhere. We cannot do what we like.
Our children are struggling. There's sickness. We have to cope with so many changes, financial problems.
Yet from our heart there can be a song of thankfulness to our God COVID or not. Whatever our days, dark days or bright days, every day of our life there can be a song of thankfulness. Even if we can't sing a tune properly the music that comes from our heart brings joy to God because it says in heaven there's joy over one soul that repents.
There's joy in heaven. It's almost like when one soul, when one of us has repented even now when you daily repent and come back to the Lord and confess to him. It's like the bells and the chimes in heaven are ringing and there's music and celebration going on because one soul has repented.
Praise God that we can have that joy in our hearts. It's like the sunbeam that comes into our heart, the joy that we get when we truly repent, when we ask forgiveness to the Lord or when we forgive others. When we hold a grudge against someone there's such a heaviness in our heart and when we have forgiven them even in our hearts it's like a ray of heavenly sunbeam coming straight into our heart.
I felt that so many times and that praise God that we can experience that every day of our life. Whatever the weather is we can have that song of praise to our Lord every day and that sunbeam of glorious sunbeam can come into our hearts. Praise God.
I want to share this verse in Psalm 104 verse 34. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God while I have been.
May my meditation be pleasing to him for I rejoice in the Lord. Amen.
