God is actively involved in creation and continues to maintain it, and the Christian life is about letting God be all in our life.
Andrew Murray emphasizes that God is the source and sustainer of all things, asserting that He does not abandon creation to operate independently but actively maintains it. He challenges the notion that living in constant communion with God is an unattainable ideal, urging believers to understand and embrace the truth that all things are accomplished through Him. This understanding is crucial for experiencing true rest and happiness in the Christian life, as it allows for a deeper relationship with God.
Text
2. God Works All. 'Through him are all things.' He did not only begin; he alone continues and maintains. As wonderful and mysterious as is the 'of him' is also the 'through him'. He did not, as the Deist dreams, part with a certain portion of his life and power, leaving the creature to himself and certain laws he had imposed. No, above and through all these laws he himself keeps charge as the God which worketh all in all. We want to study and realize this in its relation to the Christian life. The call to let God be all in our life, the thought of ever being able to live so that it shall be to us natural, perfect rest and happiness to walk with God and maintain unbroken communion with him, is counted a dream, an impossible ideal, an overstrained demand. And why?
Simply because the 'through him all things' is not understood and believed.
