Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Folks, let me tell you something. Let me warn you about something right now. There's some real nice folks, all the way since Reformation, they get a little truth and they just go so far and they stop short of it. You're going to find some people saying part of what we're saying right here, but they won't take you on in. And they're going to be nice folks. They won't take you all the way, because if they take you all the way, they lose their reputation and their kingdom. You better discern it now, folks. Now let me ask you something. If you crucify the flesh, the church, so is Blount Crafty, they say they're going to crucify the flesh, this passion and desire? Did your Bible say that? Why then, if you do that, you're going to have a pure heart, aren't you? If you have a pure heart, you've got a new fruit, haven't you? You've gone in and possessed the land. Let me see if you've possessed the land. If you've got a pure heart, how many strongholds are on you? Right here they are, not any. Do you remember what Jesus said? The ruler of this world is coming and he has nothing in me. I obey the commandments of the Father. I always do the commandments of the Father. Do the things that please the Father. So when you do the things that please the Father, his wrath can't get on you. So then when you have a pure heart, you're going to bear love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, and that is what the purpose of the Spirit is, to bring that fruit into your life. Are you hearing what I'm saying? And so then look in verse 22. The purpose of it is the Spirit. Here's what the Spirit of God, Jesus, does. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. That's the nature of God. Against such things there is what? That's how you fulfill the law through Christ. How many see that? Oh, let me have it. You have a pure heart. You possess the Lamb. That's where the Spirit of God leads you. But let me ask you something. What if someone comes over here and they say, I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross and was raised from the dead. And then, boy, God takes you through word that you're making Jesus Christ Lord and that Spirit of God comes in you. And then you stop right there. And then the rest of your life, don't you forget that experience you had and you just go bitterness, idolatry, covetousness, murder, unforgiveness, resentment. And you can walk out different doors. You can criticize the pastor. You don't even have to read the Word of God because remember that time right back there you received the Spirit of God. For good you did. You never did fall in. That's the great falling away. That's why the church today does not understand the powers of darkness. That's the reason they can't deal with them. They can't tell you about them. That's the reason they have to be offended when it comes up because they're supposed to be smart folks. They can't take your Bible and show you how to work. They teach you a form of godliness about a greater seed that's in me than heath in the world. You just go on and walk into stubbornness of your heart and rebelling to God while you're destroyed. That's the great falling away. And a church that walks like this can't tell you what righteousness is. You don't know what righteousness is. You just use the words. You learn a language. It's a religious language. You talk about holiness but you don't really know what holiness and righteousness is. Church discipline is all over the Bible but you don't use it because you'll upset somebody's nature of Satan that they love. Of course you love the approval of man more than you do the approval of God. They can't answer your question. They can't tell you what discernment is because after you've explained everything away there's nothing to discern. They can't explain how you have to endure to the end and how you have to overcome because that's explained away too. Then you learn to skip and pick through the word of God and when you see something in the word of God and say well we don't do that. Then immediately that power of darkness in your mind tells you what Dr. Brown knows about that. He would understand it. So then what you've done is made Dr. Brown Lord. The Spirit of God can't lead you nowhere because Dr. Brown is your source. How many of you see what I'm saying? Hold up your hands. That's how the power of darkness controls people and leads them to the pit. The blind lead the blind to the pit. Nice folks. Intellectual.
