The Prophetic Ministry in the End Times
Mike Bickle

Mike Bickle (1955 - ). American evangelical pastor, author, and founder of the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC), born in Kansas City, Missouri. Converted at 15 after hearing Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach at a 1970 Fellowship of Christian Athletes conference, he pastored several St. Louis churches before founding Kansas City Fellowship in 1982, later Metro Christian Fellowship. In 1999, he launched IHOPKC, pioneering 24/7 prayer and worship, growing to 2,500 staff and including a Bible college until its closure in 2024. Bickle authored books like Passion for Jesus (1994), emphasizing intimacy with God, eschatology, and Israel’s spiritual role. Associated with the Kansas City Prophets in the 1980s, he briefly aligned with John Wimber’s Vineyard movement until 1996. Married to Diane since 1973, they have two sons. His teachings, broadcast globally, focused on prayer and prophecy but faced criticism for controversial prophetic claims. In 2023, Bickle was dismissed from IHOPKC following allegations of misconduct, leading to his withdrawal from public ministry. His influence persists through archived sermons despite ongoing debates about his legacy

Sermon Summary
Mike Bickle emphasizes the significance of the prophetic ministry in the end times, urging believers to seek a deeper understanding and experience of God's power through prayer and fasting. He highlights the coming together of signs and wonders with eschatological revelations, suggesting that ordinary people will be empowered to prophesy and perform miracles that shift the spiritual culture of entire communities. Bickle encourages the church to prepare for unprecedented manifestations of God's Spirit, which will include both individual healings and dramatic signs that capture the attention of nations. He calls for a commitment to obedience and humility, reminding listeners that God uses weak and broken individuals to fulfill His prophetic purposes. Ultimately, Bickle inspires hope that the next generation will witness a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit, leading to a global revival.

Good song. Father, we ask you just to release the presence of your spirit on the heart. Lord, we ask you that you would strengthen our confidence, our faith about what you intend to do. I believe even in this generation, what's on your heart, stir us to ask you, to seek you for the greater works than these in the realm of the prophetic calling and the prophetic ministry. We thank you in Jesus' name, amen. Again, we're in the middle of this 21-day fast and we're asking the Lord, we're using this occasion to be plumb-lined, to realign our soul and our heart and our thinking with what the word of God says because we drift away from the ideals of scripture, the things the scripture presents as normal. I mean, the mighty things, they're normal to God, but they seem so dramatic, they seem surreal and unreal. And it's actually normal to believe it in terms of the spiritual point of view, but we struggle to lay hold of these things that are written in the word and some of the things the Holy Spirit has promised us. Well, last week, we looked at the unprecedented measure of conviction of the Holy Spirit that is released in historic revival. We looked at the first and second Great Awakening in America as a prototype of what's coming in the days ahead, but what's coming in the days ahead is gonna surpass that measure of conviction we saw in the first and second Great Awakening in America where the spirit of conviction, the power of God pervaded entire regions and hundreds of thousands, millions came to the Lord in short amounts of time. Even without preachers, people are gonna just weep and new believers were telling the story of the message they heard last night. Multitudes were getting saved in factories and bars all over a region that happened all across America. I mean, different places in America. Well, tomorrow, we wanna look at the unprecedented healing anointing that the Bible promises, but the Lord has highlighted. He's been generous and said, I wanna strengthen your resolve so you know that it's true. Well, the Word should be enough, but we're slow of believing and slow of hearing. The apostles were, how much more are we? And so the Lord gives us supernatural encounters to bolster our faith in what the Word says. It's the Word that we have our confidence in. Well, there's gonna be unprecedented release of finance as well in the generation the Lord returns. And I believe, it's my opinion, it's not a prophecy, it's an opinion, but I believe that we're in the early days of that generation. I don't know if I'll see it with my eyes, but I believe my grandchildren's generation will see it. I believe there's people alive on the earth today that will actually see these things in their fullness. And again, that's just my opinion by just looking at the signs of the times that are in the Bible. Well, tonight, I wanna look at the unprecedented measure of the prophetic ministry. The office of the prophet, how far is it going? Well, there's two types of prophets in the Bible. There's what I would call the signs and wonders prophets, like Elijah and Elisha. And then there's the end time or the eschatological prophets. Eschatological just means the study of the end times, it's a fancy word if that's new to you. Like Daniel and Ezekiel, like Zachariah. Now, Daniel didn't operate in signs and wonders, not that we know of. And Elijah and Elisha, who did mighty signs and wonders, we don't have any indication that they saw the end time storyline. But I believe, it's clear in the word, that the signs and wonders anointing, prophetic anointing of Elijah and Elisha, and the eschatological prophetic anointing of Daniel and Zachariah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, John the Apostle, they're going to come together in fullness in one hour of human history. That the people, there will be men and women that will actually see in the realm of the spirit, like the prophets of old, but even more clearly, because they're building off of the revelation that the former prophets had, the Holy Spirit will tell the end time prophets these things and give them even greater clarity about them. But it will go beyond seeing the storyline. There'll be signs and wonders, dramatic signs and wonders, not just in physical healings and people's bodies. Yes, signs and wonders in that. But in addition to signs and wonders, in terms of people's deliverance from pain and sickness, there's gonna be signs and wonders in the created order. Signs in the heavens, signs on the earth. So it's gonna be the miracles of the book of Acts, which were people, individuals were touched with power, combined with the miracles of the book of Exodus, where Moses prayed and food was multiplied, the Red Sea divided, signs came from the heavens. So I mean, imagine the book of Acts and the book of Exodus combined in signs and wonders prophets. Then put that together with the eschatological or the end time revelation like Daniel had all together in one package. That's where the prophetic calling and the prophetic spirit is going. And the ideals, meaning the ultimate demonstration is Revelation 11, verse three to six. I don't have it on the notes here. Revelation 11, verse three to six, the two witnesses. They will have end time revelation and they will move in the same power of the book of Acts as well as what Moses did and Elijah and Elisha. I mean, it's coming together. But the amazing thing is God is going to anoint weak and broken people like you, really. He's gonna, that's the only type that he has, by the way. Now, we know that and it's kind of cute, but the issue, it's real. It says in James chapter five, verse 17, it was a shocker when James said, Elijah is a man with a nature like ours. He deals with the same depression, the same sin, the same doubt, the same mundane routine issues we deal with, he dealt with. He struggled, he questioned things, he didn't feel the power, he felt lonely, he felt rejected, he felt afraid, he quit. He wanted to draw back and say, Lord, I just wanna quit. And the Lord took him home. Now, we look at Elisha and we go, wow, and we should, but I wanna tell you, you don't understand the Elisha story until you understand Elisha and Elijah, I meant to say, but both of them, they were men just like you are right now. I mean, it's hard to imagine it because we put it into a realm of way out there and kind of the out of reach realm and then the stories are just fascinating, they're no longer helpful to us because they're not really real about real people. But beloved, the good news is this, it is real people like you are gonna do this. And I believe that what my children and grandchildren and their children will do, we can't even imagine. Now, I believe we're in that timeframe. I believe we're in the early days of it. And if I'm wrong, it's not so much later than what I'm guessing, what my opinion, but I actually, I believe strongly that there are people alive, they will actually see it. If that's true, if we're in that countdown, those decades that are going to unfold and culminate and the intensity is gonna grow, that means that this anointing of the signs and wonders prophet of the book of Acts and the book of Exodus combined, and then the eschatological anointing of seeing the secrets of God's end time storyline, that there are people alive on the earth. I believe they'll actually enter into that and the way that God's gonna train them and raise them up is just like he did in the days of old. The simple main and plain ways, they study their Bible, they choose obedience, they wrestle through boring prayer, they say no to lust and yes to righteousness, they stumble and fall, sign back up, stumble and fall, sign back up, break through, stay steady, get confused, get perplexed, sign back up, stay steady, get depressed for a little while, stay steady again. That's how it really happens. It really is how it happens. We just wish there was some super saint status where all of a sudden you turn a corner and everything in the natural realm, all the troubles are gone and suddenly everything is perfect. It didn't work that way. Not for the apostles either. So when I read the real storyline and at the height of where God's taking his church, but you read the real human dynamics, it encourages you and it causes us to say, Lord, we wanna ask for this kind of labor. These kind of labors, because remember in Matthew 9 38, Jesus said pray for laborers to be sent, sent ones. We don't wanna just want volunteers, we'll take volunteers, but Jesus said there are sent ones. Ask the Father to send the labors, God anointed men and women that are sent from heaven. And I believe that we get a vision, not just for faithful workers, although that's the premier issue is faithfulness, it really is. But the Lord says, I have more on my mind than faithfulness only. I have a greater works than these anointing. Jesus is the one that said it. He said, the miracles I do, you'll do greater ones. Now that's never happened in history yet. It's not been fulfilled. That's an unfulfilled prophecy yet to be fulfilled on a global level. Doing greater works than what Jesus did. Now Jesus combined it. He did the signs and wonders and he did the eschatological revelation. He was a prophet that put them both together. Yay, more than a prophet. But the point is this, I wanna ask the Lord for this. And though we don't see much right now on the global level of too many operating in this, there's a few that are at the early days of this. And after our break, I wanna tell some stories of some things I've seen that really convinced me. I've seen with my eyes, some most remarkable things in the realm of the prophetic and the power, the signs and wonders prophets. And it's encouraged me. But when I really look at scripture, I've only seen the beginning of the beginning, but what I've seen is awesome. And the days gone by and the Lord's whispering in our hearts and saying, that's only the beginning of the beginning. That's not the ceiling, that's the floor. That's the beginning place to believe for. And so as we hear these scriptures and we hear the testimonies, what I wanted to produce in us is this tenacity to believe God for it in our own lives. Don't just ask for some other guy. Say, Lord, why not me? I'm a weakened, broken person committed to go all the way. Here I am. That's all he's looking for, is weakened, broken people that when they hit the wall, they hit the ceiling, they don't give up. They keep pressing through in terms of their obedience, in terms of their hunger for the word, in terms of breaking through in the spirit. Why not you? Why not you? So I wanna stir up a faith for this. Why not your children? Why not your grandchildren? Well then, we wanna understand why God wants to give these kind of prophets, both male and female, both old and young. Some will be children. They'll be young, just like they were in the Bible. Now, one of the reasons God wants to give the kind of prophets I'm talking about, he wants to shift the culture, the spiritual culture, the body of Christ to the awe of God and the fear of God. There's a kind of level of prophecy which I appreciate, I really do appreciate it, that is for personal edification of individuals. A prophetic anointing is on a person and they help and an individual gets helped and they go, wow, I have more clarity. There's a kind of healing that helps an individual. It's a miracle that touches an individual's life. And that's powerful, that's what's common today and I love that. That it mostly impacts the individual and the others hear the story and they have a sincere, yes, Lord, thank you, Lord, but it doesn't overly move the others. They hear the story and they go, good, I believe you, praise God, but they're not overly affected. The guy touched is, but not the others. And that's mostly where miracles are today, healings are today, and prophetic ministry, the compassion of God is touching individuals and the rest of the body of Christ, they hear the story and they go, wow, cool, that's good, yes, Lord, and again, they're unaffected. But there's a level of the prophetic anointing that it shifts the entire spiritual culture of a region. It shifts the entire culture of a ministry to the fear and the awe of God. It's not just, wow, did you hear what happened? It's like, I mean, whole communities, large numbers of people are riveted by the presence of God when this other level of the prophetic ministry is released. I've seen a little bit of that over the years, and I mean, there's a difference between a culture-shifting miracle, a culture-shifting prophetic word or prophetic event, and one that is being released because of God's compassion on an individual. Now, I love the individual compassion ministries. I love that. We want much, much more, but I'm hungry to see more of that culture-shifting kind of thing. There's another kind of prophetic word that it's not so much just compassion for an individual or it doesn't shift the culture, but it gives direction and perspective to a movement. Those are some of the things that the Lord used through Bob Jones. Back in 83 and 84, he gave perspective to a movement, and it's 25, I mean, it's 30 years later nearly, and we're still gaining strength as a movement from that direction and that perspective. It doesn't create awe today, but it does bring a clarity and an alignment and a perspective. So I want the compassion-type prophecies and healings. I want much more. I want the movement-directing perspective ones, but I wanna see the spiritual culture-shifting-type miracles where, I mean, the whole room, the whole auditorium, the whole movement is captured with expectation and the fear of God, the awe of God, and they're just a little bit afraid in the right way, going, whoa, what meaneth thou this? What's this about, whoa? Now, that's the kind of miracle that I believe the Lord wants to add, and the Book of Acts, there's a number of those in the Book of Acts, that it grabbed the attention of a region, an entire region, and shook the region. It shook, and what I mean by that, many believed and many did not believe, but they were hostile, but almost nobody was neutral. Everybody was captured into the drama of that miracle. Lord, send those kind of miracles. Let's look at Acts chapter two, I mean, Joel chapter two. Joel chapter two. Now, we know this passage, but I want you to read it like you've never heard it before. Don't look at it and say, oh, yeah, yeah, I know this passage. No, just, there's so many levels of meaning and implications here in Joel chapter two that are above and beyond what we grab just because of our spiritual capacity. As it enlarges, we'll see more. Verse 28, you'll note that 12 times, the word shall or will, I will, says the Lord. It shall happen, says the Lord, 12 times. There's that emphatic, declarative, yes, it's going to happen dimension in these few verses here. It shall come to pass, afterwards. We're going to find out in a minute, we might not get to it, so it's in the notes, that it's after the prayer and fasting earlier in Joel two. It shall come about afterwards. A lot of folks, they skip the word afterwards. It's after the fasting of prayer in verse 12 to 17. After my people come before me and cry out, afterwards. There's going to be a global prayer movement that is growing quickly in the earth right now, but it's going to mature in the decades ahead. And it's going to be common that the body of Christ will have a prayer culture in the earth, then the afterwards will take place. But there's a, what about now before afterwards? He said, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. Now when he says all flesh, he means this, every single believer in every nation. Old and young, Jew and Gentile, male and female, every single nation. That's what all flesh means in this context. Every single believer will prophesy. You know, over the years, because I've been associated with the prophetic ministry, so I run into guys. They go, I don't believe the prophetic ministry. I go, that's okay. They say, you know, where's that in the Bible? Prove it. I go, I don't want to prove it. I say, that's too boring. I'd rather talk about Jesus. I've had this conversation a number of times. I go, it is so sure that you are going to prophesy. I don't even want to argue about it. Let's talk about Jesus and enjoy each other, and then you give me your prophecy when it hits you in the years to come. I go, I can't even get excited for the argument, and then I throw in just a little tongue in cheek. I say, I hope your wife gets the dreams and visions first, and kind of troubles your household for a minute, and then, well, it doesn't have to happen that way, but the ladies are just so eager and sensitive to these things. That's how it normally happens. You know, the guy doesn't believe it. The wife starts dreaming that he's in a, I've seen this story so many times. He's just in a mess, because he's like, uh. Anyway, it's sons and daughters. So that means old and young, male and female, right there. They're gonna prophesy, prophesy at many levels. The old men, they're not left out, and therefore, the older women as well is the idea. The older generation, it's a young people movement, but the Lord says, I have an assignment for the older ones to move in the spirit, too. The young men, someone may say, yeah, but they're unrestrained, and they're a little impetuous, and this and that, and the other, that some young ones might be, and the Lord says, I'm gonna give them visions, open visions, I'm gonna do it anyway. But here's the key phrase, verse 29. On my menservants and my maidservants. The other translations say, on my bondservants, both male and female. I like that word, bondservants. But this says the same idea, menservants and maidservants, meaning, this anointing is not just going to flow indiscriminately to every believer, it's on the believers that choose to live as bondservants to the Lord. Now, that's a really serious qualifier. Often, that point is skipped. It's talking about the men and women that says, my life is bound up, and throwing myself into the will of God, and I tell you, the suddenly of the Lord's gonna begin to happen, and people are gonna operate in the prophetic anointing in the most amazing ways. I can tell you some stories, and I don't know how many stories I'll get to in the second session, but of people that never prophesied ever, and suddenly, it begins one night. And the multiplication of dreams and visions begins. Suddenly, one day, they were the last one to think that would happen in their life. I mean, I don't know the number, but I'm thinking right off the top, I know 20 or 30 peoples, what I'm thinking of right now, having never counted them, that never prophesied, and suddenly, it happened one day. And then, for the years to come, amazing proliferation of prophetic revelation, and they thought, I never thought I was one of them. Well, who are those one of them people? They're people like us. I'll tell you, in our own midst, our own little beloved Julie Meyers, she, I was with Julie, we were close friends. 30 years ago, we were close friends. When I was 25 years old, and she says she was nine, but you know, sometimes she says 12, but she was something like that. But Julie was whatever, normal, and a few years ago, I mean, I knew Julie, I never thought of Julie in this way. Julie was a happy, just going for God, and happy, and I mean, she's still happy, but I mean, I just thought of Julie as fun, and hey, you know, how you doing, Julie? All of a sudden, a couple years ago, something happened, and none of us can figure it out. It's called the grace of God. She began to get tremendous prophetic dreams. They started multiplying, and if you'd asked her when she's in her 20s and 30s, would this happen to you? She's, no, no, I'm on the worship team, and I'm a housewife, no, no, I don't do that. Bob Jones does that. But suddenly, it started happening to her, and I have about, again, I would think, having never counted 20 or 30 people, I look back over 30 years, they were just going along for 10 or 15 years in the Lord, and suddenly, it happens, and they look back, and it never stopped. Beloved, this may be the week, and next year may be the year, a whole new beginning. You may be nine, you may be 90, you can't rule yourself out. The minute you think you're too young, then it's a boy prophet. The minute you think you're too old, you're a Daniel, or you're a John the Apostle who received their revelations in their 80s and 90s, their major ones. I say, let's go for it, but it's bond servants. It's the people who want it. It's the people who can't live without it. Don't ever write yourself off on this passage here. Now, look how dramatic it gets. I will show wonders in the heavens. I have, I was just adding it up, seven different times that I know of where a prophetic man, and it was five with Bob Jones and two with Paul Cain, they spoke a prophecy, and then they prophesied what would happen in the heavens, a weather pattern that was far enough away where there wasn't a chance they could guess it right. And they said, here's the prophecy, here's what's gonna happen in the heavens, in the sky, in the weather pattern, and when it happens exactly on this day, exactly on the day, you will know then, the dream and the prophetic message I'm giving you right now is true, because nobody can manipulate the sky, nobody can. That's the point. I know of seven, maybe one or two more that I've witnessed with my own eyes. I heard the prophecy, and then later, exactly on the day, the wonder happened in the heavens, or on the earth. Well, it's gonna upgrade from weather patterns, although weather patterns will be involved again. Nobody can predict the weather or comets. You can't predict them. Not in the precise day. I mean, somebody, a scientist, may, you know, some years out, say, you know, in a few years, this one, that kind of deal, but I'm talking about unpredicted by scientists kind of thing. But look at what's gonna happen. Look at where the signs and wonders are going to go to three categories, the very important categories. And there's quite a bit in the Bible on these three. I have a series on the book of Joel, where I have a chapter where I put most of the verses in the Bible, maybe all of them, I try to get all of them, where blood, fire, and smoke is recorded in the scripture as an end time sign, like in the book of Revelation, the book of Isaiah, the book of Zechariah. But these are the three categories. The prophet will prophesy, right, and then the blood will flow. Of course, the question you ask is, who's blood? And there's a lot, several different answers. The prophet prophesies, and the people go, maybe yes, maybe no, and then the fire comes down, and then the people go, yes, that's the true word. And smoke, pillars of smoke, those are the three prominent signs. This will go beyond weather patterns and comets and earthquakes to a whole nother level. And there's an amazing amount of material in the Bible on those three categories of signs in the end times. Then it's gonna go beyond blood, fire, and smoke. It's gonna touch the sun, and it's gonna touch the moon. Beloved, do you know how hard it is to make the sun do something it doesn't wanna do? By a man or a woman on the earth to speak to the sun under the anointing of the Spirit and give a word, and the sun actually does what the word of the Spirit declares? It's gonna cause the earth to shake and tremble. I'm talking about the peoples of the earth. That's the level of where this is going, and the moon, and then the stars as well. There's a number of verses that say the stars will be moved, but they're not just gonna be indiscriminately moved, but they're going, the prophet will prophesy, and then the sign will happen. That's the key part. It will be spoken ahead of time, not afterwards, but beforehand. Verse 31, these things are gonna happen, look at the key word, before, before the second coming, not afterwards. These are pre-second coming demonstrations of power. And here's, verse 32 is the open invitation. Anyone that calls out to the Lord, that's prayer, they will be saved in the sense of their sins forgiven, they're brought into the family of God, but they will be delivered from harm as well. There's salvation in the spiritual sense, but there's deliverance in the physical sense. Now, it's not like just one day all of this begins. The early beginnings of these have been happening for 2,000 years through church history. Tokens of this promise have been happening since the day of Pentecost. And right now, they're happening in small measure, a little here, a little there. And in my own story, I mean, meaning my story, meaning what I've witnessed with my eyes is what I mean by my story. What I have seen with my eyes and heard with my ears over the last 30 years, I have seen a number of these in the small version, but startling. I mean, it's a small version, but it shook us when it happened because it was so unusual in that hour. That's what we're believing for. Signs and wonders that show the compassion of God and healing and prophecies that we wanna see that happen, but ones that shift the culture of the body of Christ to the awe of God and with a terrifying expectation of God breaking in in a glorious sense. I mean, terrifying in the right sense. Paragraph B, afterwards, that's a key word. It's after prayer and fasting. That's what Joel says. It's after verse 12 to 15, or 12 to 17, more if you wanna get the entire passage. Paragraph C, in Acts chapter one and Acts chapter two, the 120 disciples in the upper room, they followed the Joel 2 pattern. They followed it. Jesus told them, the resurrected Christ, he says, I'm gonna release a tremendous ministry of the Spirit, and it's the Joel 2 prophecy clearly that's in view. We don't know that Jesus said Joel 2, but that's the main prophecy. I can't imagine Joel 2 not being a major part of that dialogue that Jesus spoke for 40 days to them with a resurrected body. He told them, he gave them teaching for 40 days about what was coming. I have no doubt that Joel 2 was a primary issue. What did they do? Well, they did the Joel 2 pattern. They went into the upper room for seven days. I used to say 10 days, but Wes Hall corrected me. He's right, it is seven days. You can do the math later, but I said, are you sure? I said, I've always said 10. He goes, I didn't make it right. So he has a good point. He was right, he did the math. I go, you're right, it is seven days, all these years. But what happened in Acts one, they went into the prayer room for seven days. And then the Joel 2 anointing of prophecy broke out, but here's the point, it only broke out in a small measure. It was not a fulfillment in a complete way, it was a token. It was a very small down payment. I mean, we look at Acts 2, we go, that's small? It looks pretty exciting. Yes, it's more exciting than what the body of Christ has been experiencing, but when we look back when it's all done, we'll see it's a small part of Joel chapter two. It's not a big fulfillment, it is a fulfillment, but only a partial beginning fulfillment. Now the reason, paragraph D, the reason that there was such a dramatic visitation because it was a Kairos time. And what I mean by Kairos time, most of you know that phrase, it is that strategic time on God's calendar. It was the first coming of Jesus. He just died, rose from the dead and ascended to the Father. I mean, it was the most dramatic moment of human history. It was the Kairos moment of salvation history. It was a very strategic time, but I have news for you. There's another really strategic time coming soon when he stands in the clouds. And the strategic time at the first coming, those seven days of prayer released a down payment in the book of Joel, the Joel 2 anointing. But another thing I have written here in paragraph D, down in the paragraph, it wasn't just, it's the combination of two things. It wasn't just a strategic time, that's critical. That Jesus, God in the flesh, offered himself on the cross, raised from the dead, ascended to the Father. I mean, there's no time like that in human history. The only time that parallels it is the second coming, which is approaching quickly. But beyond it being a strategic time, there was also a long history of prayer leading up to that hour too. It wasn't just strategic and that was it. There was a long history of prayer. I mean, we know Anna, it's been 60 years crying out. The prophets of the Old Testament, Jesus himself, John the Baptist, Simeon, they've been praying. But beloved, right now God is stirring up by the spirit, the prayer movement of the earth. And I see this thing crescendoing in the next two, three, four decades. Again, we don't know if it's longer, shorter, nobody knows. Could go on a few more decades, it could be sooner than that. But the prayer movement is building rapidly in the earth. And that is, and from my point of view, that's like the Lord shouting, do you know what's coming afterwards? It's the Joel 2 anointing, that's what's coming. The Joel 2 prophetic spirit, where the signs and wonders prophet and the eschatological prophet anointing come together in the same people, all over the earth. It's gonna happen all over Asia, Africa, the nations of the earth, and it's the fruit of the prayer movement. There's two things you cannot separate, prayer and the prophetic. If you pray, the prophetic will happen. If they prophesy, the people will start praying if they respond right. You know, somebody said, well, which is it? You know, which came first, the chicken or the egg? Is it prayer that releases prophecy or the prophetic that releases prayer? I go both. I believe that there was prayer that released the early prophetic anointing that touched us in the early 80s. I believe prayer fueled that, but that prophetic deposit fueled the prayer room and kept it going all those years. So which is it first? I don't know, they're both first. Paragraph E, Joel said, in the last days. Well, the last days began at the death and resurrection and ascension of Jesus, but in the New Testament, the last days, that phrase is used five times, it refers to two time frames, the entire 2,000 year period, and the final decades leading up to the second coming. The last days actually refers to both of those time frames. I don't use the last days for both time frames, though it's biblical, because people tend to get confused. I talk about the last days as beginning from the cross and resurrection of Jesus, and I talk about the end times as the final decades of the last days. The last days have been going on for 2,000 years. But at the same time, it's biblical to say the last days, meaning the final decades. But you'll always have some guy that knows this one verse that say, hey, the last days have been here for 2,000 years. They say, yeah, I know, and they'll say, no, you're using the verse wrong, so they win their little argument, and so I skip all that, and I use the phrase, which is not a biblical phrase, by the way, I use the phrase, it's a biblical idea, but not a biblical phrase, the end times, meaning those final decades of the last days, which has been going on for 2,000 years. So I have a little bit of that written in paragraph E. But there's a big difference between what happened in Peter's day on the day of Pentecost. The Joel 2 thing did not happen in Peter's day, a little bit. I have written here in paragraph E, the sun and moon did not grow dark. Joel said the sun and moon would grow dark, it didn't. Is Joel a false prophet? No, Joel's not a false prophet. Only a little bit happened. Fire, blood, and smoke did not appear. The outpouring of the Spirit to all nations did not happen. Matter of fact, the Spirit touched 120 people, and then 3,000. That's hardly Jews and Gentiles, old and young, all nations, it's 3,000 people. Now, that's awesome, 3,000, but the Spirit's gonna touch one or two billion. Not 3,000 in one city, it's gonna be one or two billion in every nation of the earth. That's what Joel talked about. So Peter was right in saying this is what Joel said, but it's also right to say this is what Joel prophesied, and it's a down payment. It's a beginning of a beginning. It's not a complete fulfillment by any means. If the book, if the day of Pentecost is fullness, that means Joel prophesied a lot of wrong things. Joel's a false prophet. Well, praise the Lord, he's not. It's just a down payment. Paragraph F. I give you a few verses for the end time prophets. Beloved, there will be prophets, not just prophetic people, prophets. The office of the prophet will be functioning on the earth in the generation the Lord returns, because Revelation 18, verse 24, as well as other verses, one of the things that the Harlot Babylon religious system does, they kill prophets. They want the prophets silenced, because the prophets are not only exposing their deception and motivating the people to resist the Harlot Babylon, the prophets are declaring things and signs and wonders are happening in the heaven that are disturbing Harlot Babylon. You know, it's like Ahab and his wife Jezebel, they want to kill Elijah because he was prophesying and drought was coming and miracles were happening. It was troubling their kingdom. They said, let's kill this guy. Let's not just shut him up in terms of his message. He's releasing power on the land that's disturbing us. So they're gonna kill the prophets, but my real point is the prophets exist. That people say, well, the prophets, they passed away in the first century. I go, no, no, they're killed in the final decades. They're killed then. I believe what Jesus prophesied for the apostles in his day, we're gonna see at a far greater level on a global level, John 1, verse 51. Jesus said this, he's prophesying. He said, surely I say, you shall see the heavens open and you'll see the angelic activity, ascending and descending, going up and down. He goes, you're gonna see the realm of the spirit opened up and you're gonna see the interaction of angels with natural events. You're gonna see with your eyes. Well, it's been going on throughout history, but the disciples, some of them got to see it with their eyes, but beloved, when you study the book of Revelation, it's clear there will be a global open heaven before this thing is over. There will be the ascending and descending of angels. Now, this is an interesting thing. That the ascending is noted first because you would think it would be the other way around. Angels are coming down and then going up, but Jesus said it opposite. They're going up, then coming down. What does that mean? I'm not sure, but I think the angels are involved with us in Revelation 8. The angels present a bowl of prayer to the father. The angels are carrying something up and then something is coming down in response to them going up, and I believe it's related to the prayers of the saints. There's a going up before a coming down. There's an interactive relationship, I believe, with the prayer movement. I'm guessing that's what that means. Top of page two. Well, I've already said paragraph eight, all flesh. Don't write yourself off. There will be 10-year-olds like Jeremiah as a youth prophesying, set apart from his mother's womb as a boy. There will be the old men like Daniel and John the Apostle in their 80s and 90s and older women. There'll be men and women prophesying. It will be old and young, every nation. Now, this was really radical when Joel said it because when Joel said it, only Jews prophesied. Only men prophesied. Well, you gotta throw in Deborah, and only the old guys prophesied. Joel says the paradigm's gonna be totally different. The young, they went, the young? The guys went, well, that's a stretch. The women, okay. But worse than all, Gentiles. Goyim, you, Gentiles will prophesy. That was the troubling one of all. They go, how could they prophesy? They're just like heathens. How can Gentiles prophesy? That was the hardest of all. Paragraph B. We're gonna touch this a little bit in the next session. Misty's had three or four dreams, very strong ones that make this point, this paragraph B. He said, on my bond servants, my men servants, my maid servants, there is a responsiveness that is required. It is still grace. Someone says, well, if God requires us to be responsive, it's not grace. No, our responsiveness is still so fragile. Our wholeheartedness that we call radical, when all the truth is known, it's pretty fragile and pretty weak and broken. But God says, I'll take your wholeheartedness, but the wholeheartedness is real. It's not strong, but it's real. Meaning, it's not some guy going, oh, by the grace of God, I'll just prophesy and just take what comes. No, it's talking about people who are fully abandoned in their pursuit of God. That's what he's talking about. But even them, the fullness of their pursuit of God is still fragile and frail, and God says, my grace will make up the difference. But the abandonment must be there. Don't let anybody give you a false doctrine of grace that says abandonment, if you're wholehearted, that means you're earning it. You're not earning it. You're lining up in agreement, posturing yourself to receive, because no matter how abandoned you are, it's still fraught with all kinds of weakness and frailty in it. It's still grace. Paragraph C, this has been a verse that's moved me over the years, powerfully. Zechariah 3. I remember D. Bennett had a real powerful dream once about this, some years ago. And the reason it touched me is that the Lord had given me this verse. I had said nothing about it. And then D. came along and spoke this verse directly to me about what was gonna happen in the years ahead. And here's what's going on. Joshua was the high priest. He was in the same generation as Zerubbabel. Back in Zechariah 3 and 4, they were the two leaders building the house of prayer in 536 BC. Back in 536, a lot of you know that date. 536 BC, they're building the house of prayer. Two main leaders, Joshua and Zerubbabel. Joshua had unsettled issues in his life, big ones. And the Lord says, I'm gonna forgive you. I'm gonna cleanse you. I'm gonna put a white garment. I'm gonna put a new turban on your head. I'm gonna cleanse your mind. I'm gonna cleanse your body. The devil was accusing him saying, this guy can't prophesy, he's disqualified. The devil was accusing him. And the Lord said, stop, I'm gonna qualify him. So that's in verse one to five. It's a great passage. If you feel you've been disqualified, you need Zechariah 3 to read it. I tell you, it's a very affirming, strong passage. But then in verse six, the Lord, he says, just because you're forgiven, that doesn't mean you're gonna be casual with the forgiveness I gave you. The angel of the Lord, notice the word admonished. Here, Joshua's having this very dynamic, prophetic experience. But the angel of the Lord, he warns him. It's got a tone of correction in it. He goes, now listen, you've been forgiven. Listen, you got a brand new beginning. What you did to be disqualified, God has canceled it out. You are now qualified. But listen, that's what an admonishment is. Verse seven, you need to walk in my ways. You need to obey. You can't be careless with my commandments. Joshua's shaking his head, but look at the grand promise. He goes, if you will do this, if you will take your new forgiveness, your new beginning, your fresh start, and join it to radical obedience, look, I will give you places to walk among these. And when he pointed, he was pointing at the angels. He goes, listen, not only will your disqualification be canceled out, and not only am I giving you a new beginning, but if you will mix obedience with it, I will give you, Joshua, access to the angelic realm. In other words, the open heaven realm where the angels ascend and descend. You can have access to that. Beloved, this is what the Lord's calling us to. I'm talking about the body of Christ everywhere. But I want us focused in on it. He's calling us to enter into that realm where the angels ascend and descend. We see the invisible realm and the interaction of the spiritual powers with natural events and with the prayer movement. I have six things here I'm just gonna say real quick. When we want to posture ourselves to do God's ways, I tell you, there's no area like the anointing that has more, whatever the anointing is on a man or a woman, there's so many temptations to compromise something about the anointing. You would think it would make people sober-minded, but it makes them, it stirs up whatever pride they have in them, it comes to another level. A little bit of anointing takes a pretty decent guy or gal and their pride just comes out, they can't contain it. They get a little anointed, they get what I call helium highs, and they just kind of float to the top with a big head thinking, I'm the one. Lord says, no, I'm gonna pop your balloon and show you it's not. One thing the Lord has pressed me on over the years, when the things I promised happen, hold the line on these issues. We must pursue the Lord, not this false grace doctrine where we're passive and we say, oh, the grace of God. No, it's wholeheartedness. We have to live righteous. Now, I'm pursuing God, I'm talking about fasting, praying, going after Him, righteous, living righteously. We must live righteous, this is not negotiable. So many men in the past, they get a little anointing, in a decade or two, they just start dabbling with unrighteousness far beyond what they did before they were anointed. It's like, where did that go? They quit seeking the Lord, now they're famous and everybody wants their autograph, and they quit obeying. Like, why? You were seeking God hard and obeying. You finally got an answer, you quit. It's like, why do we do that? Because that pride is lodged in the heart. Here's one, you've heard me talking on this over the years, I really care about this, anointing with humility. There's something about pride that wants to draw attention to ourself with hype, exaggeration, and as you know, I detest exaggeration and hype in the name of the anointing of the Holy Spirit, I detest it. Because what it is, it is misrepresenting the Holy Spirit. We're trying to tell the group watching us, this is the Holy Spirit, he goes, it is not me. Do not misrepresent me when my presence is in your midst. Be authentic. I see that one, well, I see the other two. Then we have to honor the scripture. Guys get anointed, they start coming up with revelations that aren't in the Bible. Like, what happened to the Bible? You were so committed to it. Well, God told me in an angel, I don't care what an angel told you, if it's not in the Word, don't run with it. Stay in the boundaries of the Word. No, I'm anointed. Two angels told me, I don't care who told you. We stay in the boundaries of the written Word of God. Finances, well, God told me to take the money from the anointing and do these things with it. He didn't. He told you to help the poor and to finance the gospel with the anointing, with the money, because millions will come when the anointing increases, millions and millions. And we need to bear the stigma. I tell you, Paul the Apostle found this out in 2 Corinthians 12. He says, I got anointed, I got a thorn in the flesh. I said, Lord, help me, and the Lord says, no, no, because your pride will get out of control if a thorn doesn't stick you. I mean, if a mature apostle would get out of line in pride, where do we stand? I go, Lord, yes, wholeheartedly, I'm gonna seek you even with a great anointing, I'm gonna live righteous, I don't wanna hype, I don't wanna exaggerate, I don't wanna add things, I don't wanna draw attention to myself and my ministry style, I'm gonna keep the Bible, I'm gonna use finances, ooh, but this stigma thing, could you like, Lord, just let me do those five things without that stigma and just trust me, Lord, I'll obey you. And he goes, no, no, Paul needed the thorn. Helium highs, I tell you, they're just, a guy gets a little bit of anointing, they turn into a different person in a year or two or three or four, I've watched it many times in 30 years. I go, what is this about? Well, I got five people falling down in the prayer line now, I'm the man of God, like, bro, get your head back into reality, go wash the toilets, serve and pray in fast and live in hiddenness, so what, five people fell down, you push three of them down anyway, who cares? Anyway, I beat this one string fiddle for 30 years I've been saying this and I'm not gonna stop. Some of the folks around like, boy, he's really into that, I've been in this for 30 years, the folks that have known me, this is not a new, you know, last five years, I kind of figured it out, I've been disturbed by this for years, that how much hype there is related to the subject of the anointing, how much falsehood and misrepresentation that comes when people get one ounce of anointing the way they carry on, it's just bizarre to me. It's about Jesus and it's about helping people, it's not about telling people how awesome we are and how anointed we are. But this is pretty easy to stay in the boundaries as long as it's a one inch anointing, whatever that means, but when the big stuff happens, I tell you, we must be grounded in these things, we absolutely must. Well, Roman numeral three, signs and wonders, this is not just normal stuff, this is stuff that arrests the attention of cities, regions and nations. I mean, nations will be caught up in anger over these signs and wonders, awestruck, perplexed and stirred in faith, every emotion imaginable will happen with these end time prophets and prophetesses. Look what Jesus said, Luke 21, 11, fearful signs, great signs, not little signs, terrifying signs. I mean, fearful, they will cause believers' heart to palpitate when they see them. Then he goes on in Luke 21 and verse 25, 26, he adds a little bit more, he says, let me tell you how great they're gonna be in the sky, the heavens means the sky, it's gonna touch the sun, the moon, the stars, verse 26, men will faint from fear, the signs will be so awesome, now they won't be random, the prophet or the prophetess will speak them and people say, yeah, whatever, and then they will happen and then the people say, whoa, what was that message that went along with that sign? And then they'll wanna hear the message. Be, whoever calls on the name of the Lord, that's prayer, the prayer movement will be dynamically connected, it will be a great harvest, salvation movement, this is connected to the great harvest, but it's also connected to supernatural safety in a time when the whole earth is being shaken. And I tell you, if there's anything we wanna go for, well, there's about 10 things we wanna go for, but we wanna believe Jesus for this level of power and we wanna walk in his ways like the angel told Joshua so we would have access to that angelic realm of power for all the right reasons. We wanna do it for the right reasons, for the fame of his name, for the gospel to go forth in the nations, the body to be built up in strength, not so we can establish a little neon sign over our life and ministry and saying, I'm the one, I'm the one, I'm the man of God, that's not the way we want it. We don't want neon signs pointing at us, we want his name, we want the nations coming to the Lord, amen and amen. Okay, let's stand, I'm gonna pray over you, take a moment and stand. Lord, I wanna go for this. Lord, I sign up again. All right, this is what this fast is about. And again, we're 21 days, we're realigning ourself, we'll need to do this over and over again over the years, we've done many of these already, but they're helpful to line up again, to remember what it is we're about. Lord, I ask you even now, I ask you for faith to stay steady and not be thrown off by unbelief, just distracted like, well, it's boring and it's hard. So what? Stay steady. Lord, we wanna stay steady. I wanna just invite you just to say that to the Lord your own way, Lord, I wanna do this thing. I don't care if it's hard and it's no breakthrough comes for a while and maybe we're a few decades out from that Kairos moment, maybe we're a few months out, we don't know. Doesn't matter, we're gonna stay steady. I'm gonna stay steady and I'm gonna be humble. I'm gonna use the money for God. I'm not gonna draw attention to myself. I'm gonna love the word and stay in the boundaries. I'm gonna seek you with greater zeal when the power breaks out instead of drawback. I'm gonna obey you and not get into pride that I'm special and I don't have to obey. Say those things to him right now, just as a moment. The Lord will mark some of your hearts even now. Lord, this is what we say as a community. This thing is yours and we wanna be a part of it. In the name of Jesus, amen and amen. We're gonna take a 15 minute break and we're gonna come back and we're gonna worship for a little while then we're gonna come back and I'm gonna tell some stories and Missy's gonna share a few dreams just about, she shared with her leadership team that were really moving. About staying steady.
