C. William Fisher

C. William Fisher (March 31, 1918 – January 8, 2009) was an American preacher and evangelist whose extensive ministry within the Church of the Nazarene spanned over five decades, marked by his global revival preaching and radio broadcasting. Born in Brilliant, Ohio, to Charles W. Fisher Sr. and Laura Belle Stewart, he grew up in a devout family and graduated from Brilliant High School in 1935. Converted at age 17 during a revival led by H.V. Miller at First Church of the Nazarene in Brilliant, he began preaching soon after, pursuing theological education at Eastern Nazarene College (B.A.) and Nazarene Theological Seminary (B.D., 1943), later earning honorary doctorates from Olivet Nazarene University and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Fisher’s preaching career took off in 1942 when he was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene, initially pastoring in West Virginia before dedicating himself to full-time evangelism in 1947. He preached revivals across all 50 U.S. states and 28 countries, including Japan, Korea, and India, often addressing thousands with a focus on holiness and salvation. From the 1960s to 1970s, he hosted the Showers of Blessings radio program, extending his reach nationwide. Married to Marjorie Dunlap in 1942, with whom he had two sons, Charles Wesley and David Stewart, he retired in 1992 but remained active, preaching his final sermon in 2008 at age 90. He died at 90 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, buried in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, leaving a legacy of fervent evangelism and Nazarene leadership.
