I want to talk to you about the supply of the Spirit. Is one of these phones not working here? Okay. I'm okay? All right. I don't know. What do you want? You're not going to electrocute me, are you? You're not going to electrocute me, are you? The supply of the Spirit. Let's pray. Lord, these people that are here at this conference are some of the most spiritually hungry people we've ever met. Lord, that is not flattery. That is the truth. And we ask that you satisfy the longing. Minister to us the Spirit of the Living God. Speak through me now. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Paul, in writing to the Philippians, was in a Roman prison. He'd been there two years. And he'd hear reports of all of those young men that he ministered to. They're traveling the world. They're winning souls. And he hears all these reports of God's blessings. But there was joy in this man's heart. This man had not only a baptism of the Holy Spirit. He had more than fillings of the Holy Spirit. He introduces a new word with the Holy Spirit. He talks about a supply of the Holy Spirit. That means never-ending flow of the Spirit. He said this in Philippians 1.19, Then I know that this shall turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. He's saying, I know I have the Spirit. I walk in the Spirit. But he said, your prayers for me have provided a supply of the Holy Spirit. And this man lived in that constant supply. And the heart of my message to you this afternoon is that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the only issue. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is another issue. But the need for a constant flowing of the Holy Spirit, not only in the good times, not only when there are miracles happening, but all times, in the hardest of times, by faith, to believe the Holy Spirit will come and help us to rise above our problems. What does it mean to be full of the Holy Ghost and power? You read that all through the New Testament. He was full of the Holy Ghost and power. Now when you say that to a charismatic, or those who talk about being full of the Holy Spirit, they refer to a man who says, that man is full of the Holy Ghost and he has power. What is the evidence? What is the proof? How do you tell that a man or woman is full of the Holy Ghost and power? It is not how loud a man can preach. Not how fast he can preach. Not how eloquently he can preach. It is not how many demons he can cast out. Or how many words of wisdom that he can give. It is much deeper than that. Thank God for the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. I believe in the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Often the manifestations of the Holy Spirit move through me. I believe in laying hands on the sick. And I believe they will be healed. But there is another measure to a man who is full of the Holy Ghost and his power. Not everyone has the same measure of the Holy Spirit. Of course we can't have the full measure that Jesus had. He had the Holy Spirit without measure. So I'm not talking about that measure of the Spirit. But not everyone has the same supply of the Holy Spirit. They don't have the capacity to allow Him to flow. The Holy Spirit I would liken to an ocean. Of everything that a man or woman needs to walk the Christian life. How do you tap into that? That has to do with the measure that's going to flow into you. If I want to get a full measure of that ocean water the Bible said He shall be in you a well of living water springing up. Then I have to have a bigger pipe. A bigger capacity. And the capacity to get this flow is not through works. It's through faith. Every time you read of a man full of the Holy Ghost and power you will hear this. And he was a man of faith. It says of Stephen being full of the Holy Ghost he looked steadfastly into heaven. That's in Acts 7. But you go to Acts 6 and it says Stephen a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost. Always where you read of a person full of the Holy Ghost you read of him being a man of faith. I want to talk about some of the men in the Bible that walked that kind of life. It is said of Peter he was full of the Holy Ghost and power. You know that even in his shadow people were healed. This man cast out devils. This man performed miracles. He spoke with power and authority. We know he walked in the Spirit. But let me talk about the flow of the Holy Spirit in this man. The supply of the Holy Spirit is when a man or woman is totally yielded to the direction of the Holy Spirit. You can claim to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and you claim to be walking in the Holy Spirit but if you're not yielded to His direction if you still have your own will and you do things without consulting the Holy Spirit you're not walking in the flow of the Holy Spirit. You're not walking in the supply of the Holy Spirit. This man is on a rooftop and the Spirit speaks to him. He's been in prayer. This is a flat rooftop and the Spirit comes to him and says three men are going to knock at your door and they're going to ask you to go with them and I'm telling you to go with them and ask no questions. He didn't know they were going to be Gentiles. He didn't know that being a circumcised believer he was not to eat or associate with Gentiles. These were Gentiles that knocked on the door and they invited him to go to the house of Cornelius. Peter didn't go just because it was the right thing to do. He didn't stop and evaluate the Word. He didn't reason. He didn't say well this is a great opportunity. Here's a chance to reach the Gentiles. One thing ruled this man's life. The Holy Spirit said a man who is in the supply of the Holy Spirit is contented anywhere he is in everything he does seen or unseen because he has no will of his own and he's totally yielded to the voice of the Holy Spirit. And the Bible says he went without question. He took six men with him and I want you to know there had to be questions. Peter, we're from Jerusalem and many circumcised believers and they have not had a full revelation. We don't even have the full revelation. What if they ask us to eat with them? Are you sure God spoke to you? Are you sure you to go into this house of the Gentiles? This is a new concept and Peter would not reason with them. All I can tell you, he said, the Spirit said go! Who am I to question the Holy Spirit? The Bible said he went and of course, God moved. The Holy Spirit blessed. The Holy Spirit came in the middle of his message filled them all with the Holy Spirit and of course, they were invited to eat. They ate and fellowshiped. Paul said, Peter said, I was told not to call any man unclean. He got his direction from the Holy Spirit. He got his message from the Holy Spirit. He got the revelation to fellowship and of course, they go back to Jerusalem and sure enough, the circumcision crowd met him and they pointed a finger at Peter and said, you went down to a Gentile house and you held a meeting in a Gentile house and not only did you do that but the most unbelievable thing of all you sat and ate with them. Peter stands in front of the whole circumcision crowd. These are Jewish believers but they're still believing that you have to be circumcised to be saved and God is educating Peter. Don't walk by these laws. Not by these traditions. This may be the church of Jerusalem but I spoke to you by my Spirit and this is what Peter said. I heard a voice telling me to go. At first I said no but the voice came again and the Spirit bade me or directed me to go. The Holy Spirit commanded me to go. Who was I to withstand the Holy Spirit? Folks, I believe that's the kind of life that God wants His servants to live. We're having questions today that are beyond our comprehension. We're facing things in our families that no other generation has faced. How complicated it is if you have children. There's no book on how to raise grandchildren. You have financial problems that no other generation has faced. We face principalities and powers of darkness that have been erupted out of hell. And I keep saying it to this congregation that God's trying to speak. The Holy Spirit wants to direct us. He wants us to walk in this supply of a Holy Ghost direction a Spirit-led truth a Spirit-led revelation in every need. If I spend time praying and I spend time seeking God's face when I come out of His presence and I believe the Holy Spirit does speak then He can direct my life. He can tell me how to raise my children. He can put a red flag when it's time to stop He can give me a green light when it's time to go He can speak at the moment. I don't have to run to a secret closet and I'll say, wait a minute I'll see you in about an hour. I have to go check with the Holy Ghost. No, because you see you learn His voice in secret. And then in every crisis and every time of need in the home and in the church there will be a word there will be an inner knowing God will speak and this is how Peter's walking now. We're not hearing much about other manifestations right now. We're not talking about people being healed in His shadow. No one is healed in His shadow here. But He's walking in the Spirit. There's a wonderful manifestation now of the Holy Spirit. This is the very thing that Paul introduces us to. The constant flowing and moving of the Holy Spirit for details of our life. This is a Holy Ghost man. This is a Holy Ghost filled woman. This is where the power of the Holy Ghost is. It's not me calling you down here to the front and giving you some word of direction. Now that's a deception if you are not willing to go to the Holy Spirit and you will not spend the time and you will not believe that He will speak to your heart. It's a deception to come and ask for some man to give you the word. God wants to give you the word through His Spirit alone. And if anyone speaks to you a word it has to confirm what God has already spoken to you. It's only a confirmation and nothing else. Philip. Let me talk about Philip. Here's a man who truly understood the flow of the Holy Spirit. When you study this man's life you begin to realize how God so loves the work done in the quiet. How disinterested God is in just kind of bigness. He's not looking for the spectacular. He's looking for men. He's looking for women who are faithful when no man can see doing a job that is so small and insignificant in the eyes of men. Now, Philip is known to be a man full of the Holy Ghost and power and the Bible said he's a man of faith. He had the gift of healing. He could cast out devils. He was an evangelist the Bible said. He's a married man with four daughters and the disciples decide that they're not going to minister to the widows personally. He said, let us give ourselves to prayer and the Word of God and the church is told pick out seven men vote them in this office and let them wait on the tables. They have established a home for widows. Philip is at that meeting where they're choosing waiters to wait on tables those who are going to buy the groceries those who are going to do the dishes and Philip is sitting there and I'm sure his mind is so full of a vision a yearning to win souls he's an evangelist he's a soul winner he wants to lay hands on the sick there's not a proud bone in this man's body there's no false ambition no ego problem but he wants to do something for God and suddenly he hears his name called Stephen come forward he's the seventh man and they say you have been chosen complete majority to wait on tables suddenly they're laying hands on him saying anoint him Lord use him Lord to wait on the tables and to do the dishes this man never complains because he has a supply of the Spirit he has no questions somebody says how do you go feed your family he said this is the Holy Ghost appointment I didn't ask for this this is what the Lord gave me and I will serve him you meet him the next week I can imagine he's in the marketplace he's buying groceries and some believer from the Jerusalem church says evangelist Stephen evangelist Philip are you planting a church no where are you evangelizing he said I'm not evangelizing I'm in school what school the Holy Ghost school what are you doing there I'm doing dishes what a great man that has all of this talent and all of this ability can I tell you something and I believe this with everything in me there are some of you pastors sitting here now you may be pastoring 30, 50 people and if you were in the United States with all the openness that we have and so many religious opportunities you could probably be pastoring 500 maybe a thousand people with the same anointing you have the same ability you have you may be pastoring a great church when I say great in the eyes of man but you see this man is flowing in the spirit and he's faithful in what he does and he continues to pray for the widow widows are being healed and he's faithful never one question because there's a supply every night he goes home to his rooms and prays with his daughters prays with his wife God is doing something in his family those four daughters become prophetess four daughters who prophesy because you see this man if you ask him in his later years what's the greatest work the Holy Spirit has done through you he's not going to tell you about the great revival he held in Samaria persecution remember came to Jerusalem the church is scattered and remember the great revival that came and stirred the whole city devils were fleeing in all directions a great revival stirring hundreds and hundreds being saved even they had to send men from Jerusalem to help and people would come to him no doubt and say Philip now you've got your break now you have your dream look at you winning so many your time has come we have a lot of people ministers and lay people waiting for the break waiting for that time God will pour out a flood of blessings and live in misery and disappointment because they see so little happening right here but see if you can't flow in the Spirit here if you can't flow in the Holy Spirit while you're waiting on the widow he's not going to cause the flow to get any bigger you'll have no capacity and God will have no reason because you murmur and complain because God has put you here in this little place open now the break and if you ask Philip in his latter years Philip wasn't that the greatest thing the Holy Ghost did for you he said oh no no no that's not it I thank God for that for season that was wonderful but you see this man is walking in the Spirit and flowing in the Spirit and while everybody is saying to this man you have it made for the rest of your life no more financial problems now you got a nice home coming you have a place for your wife and your daughters you don't have to worry about money anymore and now you can teach these people now you can build a great church but the Holy Ghost he's an interrupter he can interrupt you anytime he wants the Holy Ghost says to Philip leave it appoint somebody else I want you to take a trip nobody's going with you Peter may be able to have six with him you're going all alone I want you to go down in the desert of Gaza and he names a road to him and just go and take a walk he's probably got a water sack and some bread rolls he doesn't know how long he's going to be there he doesn't know why he's there but he's not asking any questions there are no TV cameras no reporters if God does anything nobody's going to know about it what kind of man is this a man who has a supply of the Holy Spirit Lord, as long as I know your voice as long as I know you're leading me take me anywhere you want I'll go anywhere you say I'll obey you and when we bring our will under his control that's power that is the power of the Holy Ghost when a man will go well, who's going to take care of your family well, there were some Christian friends but the God who's met me all these years he's going to meet me all I can tell you I heard the Holy Spirit and he said go and here I am and I know when he's walking this road he's not saying God, why why can't I have this why can't I have this why have you stuck me out here where nobody is no, not with Philip because the Spirit is flowing in his soul and I see him raising his hands and worshiping and saying Jesus you're enough I don't need anything else as long as I have your word and I have this peace that I know that when I pray you hear me I don't need what other men need I don't need the praises of men I don't need to fear man I don't need to fear my job I don't have to fear for money I have something so complete I have the abiding Holy Spirit in me and as long as I'm walking under his will he has a purpose and if I have to walk until I drop and if nobody shows up God has a reason a chariot comes by and there's a man of color an Ethiopian and he's reading a Bible and at first nothing is said the chariot passes him by and Philip must have thought amazing he's reading a scripture now how does he know he's reading from Isaiah the man had to be reading out loud and he's reading from the 53rd chapter about this man dying and yet he's supposed to see his seed he's supposed to live to see his seed this great man that's going to be born is going to have children he's going to have a seed but he's going to die and yet he's going to live to see his seed he said how can that be he's asking God how can that be and the Holy Spirit says that's it go jump in the chariot tell him what it means and he opens up Isaiah this man is baptized I think that's one of the greatest revivals in the Bible this man opens the entire country to the Gospel and many believe that's where Africa first got it's Gospel and the great truths and the great truths that spread all through Northern Africa this man is walking in the Spirit and what happens he comes out of the water and the man turns to thank him and he's gone and the Bible said the Spirit he found himself in the Spirit in a place called Azotus it's amazing where God will take a man where God will take a woman who gives themselves to this kind of life I've had to do that I'm not anywhere near this I don't understand how a man can be so obedient as this I don't know how a man can leave everything like this but let me tell you the rest of the story then the Spirit said unto Philip join yourself to the chariot and of course you know the man believes and is baptized and when they came out of the water the Spirit of the Lord caught him away the eunuch saw him no more he went on his way rejoicing but Philip was found in Azotus and passing through he preached in all the cities in all the cities till he came to Caesarea and in Paul's later years he's on a missionary tour and he's got some other young missionaries with him and it said Paul's company came to Caesarea to the house of Philip and abode with him and the same man Philip had four daughters virgins which did prophesy now you ask Philip he's an old man now Philip what was the greatest work of the Holy Spirit in your life? that great miracle in the wilderness that great Ethiopian leader who was converted what about all those cities you went from city to city and you had revival and revival he says no that's not it I thank God for that what a wonderful Holy Spirit he's been to me but he said look there's Paul the apostle and all these great young preachers and right in the middle his four daughters laying hands prophesying that's the greatest work what if I had won the whole world and lost my daughters he said I'll soon be with the Lord but the Spirit that was flowing through me is going to flow through my daughters long after I'm gone long after I'm gone Holy Spirit said to me one time I'm not looking for you to win the whole world for me I'm looking to win all of you for me I want your will I want all your will I want you to trust him with everything in your life my wife is here and I know she remembers what I'm about to tell you with four children two sons and two daughters and ten grandchildren our four children are all in the ministry of course you've heard Gary my son preach here my other son's a youth evangelist my daughters are married to young ministers but my wife has had I guess four cancers four or five cancers over twenty operations and our daughter Debbie got cancer the same kind her mother had and that was an ordeal we remember chemotherapy ate a hole in her stomach when they were treating the cancer and the worst day of my life was in the hospital she was skin and bones and doubled up in pain and I walked out of the room and I said I can't take it but our second daughter a number of years later lived in Texas and my wife and I were coming home from the hospital she had just had her second mastectomy we were in a car coming home from the hospital and I got a call on the cell phone that our daughter Bonnie had a serious cancer 30% chance to live we flew down and the hardest I remember Gwen in the corridor of the hospital just pounding the wall God I've given my daughters my cancer because the doctors called it a cluster because the doctors said it was a group that goes through the family and they had to give her cobalt treatments three days alone in a room no one is allowed in and even the doctor that brings the machine in covered with a suit and lead all in front of him three days and nights with cobalt banging into her system I couldn't handle it I lost it I got in my car in Texas and went out way in the country country road nobody within miles and I got out of my car and walked and screamed I said God I gave you my life my wife two daughters what have I done this is not right I screamed at God cried for I think probably two hours till there were no tears left and standing that lonely road the spirit of God came and spoke and he said David your daughter Bonnie has two fathers you and me which one loves her the most I said of course you do which one of us has the power over her cancer he said you do he said which one of us will do what is right for her you would do what is right you have to give me the credit that I'll do what is right and you won't hurt your children and you know I won't hurt you and I won't hurt your children if I have to take her you know I have a reason but I'm going to ask you to take your wife and your daughters both of them and put them in my hands right here now you yield your whole life your whole family and you put them in the hands of your father and never again as long as you live don't you worry don't you fear you trust I'm a loving father and if I have to take you through a hard time I'll give you the strength and I'll give you the power but you have to give it over to me you've given your ministry to me now you give me your family and by an act of faith I said God you can have my wife you can have my daughters my sons here and I gave them over now thank God as you see my wife is here tonight and my daughters are both alive God's been merciful I think it's what 15 years now which you see last year it was a granddaughter 12 years old cancer and then God said will you do it again will you put it in my hand because I have to take her home we still cry but you see we don't question no questions because see there's no will left no will of my own Gwen has given her family she's given me to the Lord our friends live that way we're teaching our church to live that way and oh when you trust him what incredible people peace because there's no sweat there's no more struggle because you know Father knows best and he's a loving Father and he's given us the Holy Spirit to quicken us to guide us and to lead us I don't know what you're going through I don't know what your test is I don't know where God has placed you you may be in a very insignificant place right now you may be going through the test of your life but are you willing to turn it all over to him and say Holy Spirit I'm going to trust you I'm not going to question you I know you have a reason I'm going to walk by faith will you stand the Holy Spirit's here in a wonderful way how many can testify that you've been filled with the Holy Spirit would you raise your hand please hold it high you say I've been filled with the Holy Spirit keep it raised there while I pray Lord you're witness to what you see now I have raised my hand we have raised our hands and we testify to the world the Holy Spirit abides he lives in us he lives in me he's been given to me my body's the temple of the Holy Ghost now Holy Spirit by faith let me trust you that you will give me your word you will lead me you will guide me you'll give me strength you'll hold me when I don't understand when the enemy comes with confusion and fear overwhelms me I will trust you Holy Spirit I will trust you I will trust you dear Lord Jesus you'll not forsake me and you'll make a way when it seems there is no way now let me pray for you Father I pray right now for a miracle for so many that are here tonight going through the battle of their lifetime some are going through a marriage problem some Lord have been so discouraged and so downcast and so burdened some have been so abused and so mocked and ridiculed oh God I don't know all the causes but you do and I know that you're here will you just reach out to him right now and will you thank him for what he's already done for you and will you say Lord help my unbelief forgive my unbelief forgive my unbelief oh that's the greatest sin of all saints our horrible unbelief God has not forgotten you he knows what you're going through come on let's just commit it to him right now Lord I commit this to you give it into your hands and I trust you and I believe you oh give him glory now just give him praise give him glory Lord I give you glory I give you honor I give you praise you are worthy you are mighty oh blessed Holy Spirit hallelujah oh we give him thanks I hadn't planned to do this because we have a service starting in 45 minutes but I have to obey the Holy Spirit just as I preached I just feel that there's some here this may be the first service you've attended or maybe you've attended one of the other services but you can't leave because you've come to the end of yourself you said if something doesn't happen I can't go on you love the Lord you love him with all your heart and I don't know who I'm speaking to but this is a supernatural word from the Lord you came tonight you said God you have to do something now or I can't go on I've gone as far as I can I've taken as much as I can take and I have to have you touch me just step out and we'll believe you and believe with you that God will touch you and answer your cry just follow these who are coming and move in close please don't be afraid to cry you can come even while I'm speaking will you look at me please all of you who came forward look this way please listen closely as I speak in the Holy Spirit there's only one thing standing between you and an answer to your heart cry it's one thing I'm not going to talk it's not about sin it's not about a lack of prayer one thing if you just yield this now this one thing get this in your head believe what I say now because the Spirit of God is on me this one thing is standing between you and going back to your seat with assurance in your heart it's a lack of faith it's doubt it's unbelief you said I just lost my faith it's gotten too hard for me the Lord said I must have your confidence it's by an act of faith you don't have to scream at God you don't have to cry a river of tears but you have to stand right here in His presence and say God you said that you're faithful to your word I believe your word and you're going to be faithful to me because you're no respecter of persons so you love me as much as you love Pastor David and every pastor in this place you love me you're my father you heard my cry and you know my pain and you told me and it's written in your word if two or three agree together concerning anything on earth it shall be done to the Father in heaven you're one I'm two and he's three we're going to pray and I want you to believe God that He's going to answer you and before you get back to your seat God will give you peace and assurance and you will walk in expectancy believing that God will keep His word and be faithful He may not change your circumstances straight away but He'll lift you up above them and give you the strength and the peace and the rest so that you can endure until He answers now believe with me now in the name of Jesus Christ I ask for every seed of unbelief to be plucked out pull it out in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord bring peace bring assurance deliver from the lies of the enemy oh Jesus hear the cry hear the heart cry of these who stand before me and who have said I can't go any further but more than a miracle most of all faith confidence my Heavenly Father will deliver in His time and His way but I ask you now for peace and supernatural strength I want everybody that came forward lift a hand to Jesus and pray this prayer out loud dear Jesus dear Jesus I give you my faith I give you my heart and my will Lord Jesus I believe you for supernatural strength and for the Holy Spirit to come and flow through me with assurance and with the rest of the Holy Spirit thank you Jesus thank you Jesus now let the peace of God come into your heart let the rest of God come into your heart blessed be the name of the Lord it doesn't take God long when you're ready God has said I'm more willing to give than you are to receive if you believe God is answering your prayer put on faith like a garment I
