Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the importance of discerning false teachings and being cautious of preachers who mix the gospel with harmful messages. He shares a story about an encounter with a woman who received an envelope as an offering, but it took a long time for the actual offering to be collected. The preacher warns that even though a preacher may sound deep and deliver a good message, if there is no mention of sin and a lot of focus on money, it may be a sign of a false teaching. He also shares a personal experience of preaching a strong message and feeling fear that he may have wounded God's people, but later realizing that his message was changing hearts. The preacher concludes by warning that another gospel is coming to the church and urges believers to stay true to the gospel and not compromise, even if it may offend people.

We thank God for his presence in these meetings. And we come again to the Word of the Lord. You will notice our meetings are very simple. Just to glorify Christ and hear the Word of the Lord. Very simple. But we trust that when you go home you will remember what God has spoken to our hearts. We have two more meetings tomorrow which may be the most important of all of our meetings. I'm 75 years old. I would like to come to you today I wanted to come to you and preach a very pleasant nice message. And I chose one. I said, that's what I'm going to preach. Maybe everybody get happy and rejoice. But then a heaviness came to my spirit. The Lord showed me something. It's coming to the church. Here in Costa Rica. And I have to preach what God has spoken to my heart. Your country is going to be invaded with another gospel. Another gospel. The greatest test the church in Costa Rica is going to face is this test of the gospel. What kind of gospel are you going to preach? I pastor a church in New York City. God has blessed us. And he has taught me many things. He taught me a lesson one night. I had preached a strong message. And when I was finished there was such a silence everywhere. A fear came over me. And I backed away from the pulpit. And I said, Oh God. Did I wound your people? Did I preach a message too hard? And such a fear came over me. I just fell on my face. A few thousand people were there. And I laid on my face. And I began to weep. And a scripture came to me from Proverbs. Do not wound the righteous or encourage the wicked. And God put something in my heart from that time on. We're not to spank and whip God's people. And we're not to bring an easy message that would encourage the wicked. And I'm careful that God will help me not to cross the line. I was there for 45 minutes. When I finally woke up I thought everybody was gone. No one had left the church. Because the word I had preached for 45 minutes was changing the hearts of the people. Now let's pray. Lord, help me not to cross the line. You didn't send me here with a whip in my hand. And there's not a whip in your hand. If there's anything, Lord, there's a tear in your eye. There's a hurt and a grief in your heart out of great love for your church. And the invasion of so many different gospels. Gospels contrary to the heart of Christ. And so many pastors and evangelists that are giving in. Changing their message. Adapting their message. Making it easy. Oh God, if there's weeping in heaven. If there's grieving in heaven. And we know the Holy Ghost does get grieved. I feel that grief. Lord, touch my lips. Sanctify me. If this were the last message I preach in my life. If you take me home tonight. This is the message that I would preach. And then I would stand before you and say, I have obeyed you, oh Lord. Oh God, give us ears to hear. There are so many in this room now and hearing me now. They're on the fence. And you're trying to save them. Lord, only as I speak in the Spirit will it make any difference. So just bring it out of your heart. Let my voice just be a vessel. Let it just be a back vehicle to which you can speak. Amen. We love to preach that text that says the gates of hell should not prevail against the church of Jesus Christ. And the Bible tells this clearly. He's coming for an overcoming church. Without spot or wrinkle. And when Christ appears, He is not coming for a corrupted church. For a crippled church. He's coming for a sanctified church. He said a church that the gates of hell and demons of hell cannot bring down. A church that the demons of hell cannot destroy. In the last days, a church sanctified, washed in the Word, a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing. But you see, the Apostle came along and he gave us a warning. For the time will come they will not endure sound doctrine after their own lust. They will heap to themselves teachers because they have itching ears. This is in the house of God. Paul's not talking about sinners. He said they don't want to hear the Gospel. But this people he's talking about, they want to hear a Gospel, but accommodating their lust. Paul gave a solemn warning to every pastor, every Sunday school teacher, everyone called by God to preach the Gospel. He said, preach the Word. Be instant season out of season. And he said, I call God and I call Christ to witness. He said, by the Word of the Father and His Son. He said, I'm warning you. I'm telling you. Preach the Gospel. Then what Gospel is he talking about? He goes on to describe it. Reprove. Rebuke. Exhort. With long suffering. And preach sound doctrine. See, it's a very solemn call that we have as ministers of the Gospel. Paul said there's going to be a great falling away. There's going to be a greed. He warns of a spirit of covetousness coming upon the church. It's going to be a sin that nobody wants to call sin. Men become lovers of things, material things. He said they won't want to hear the prophets. They don't want to go and hear a preacher who's preaching reproof and instruction and righteousness. He said they're going to go for the love of money. Having itching ears. Itching to hear what they want to hear. I used to think that the false doctrines, the doctrines of covetousness and the doctrines of materialism in the church by certain kinds of preachers or pastors or evangelists who had this lust for the things of this world in their heart that they imposed it upon the congregation. That's not what Paul says. He said they're going to heap up in other words, they're going to demand preachers. They're going to cause a need for a breed, a kind of preacher. That will scratch their ears. You will always go to a preacher. You will always go to a church that satisfies what you want to hear. If you were a true Christian, if you have a true love for Christ, you will go to God's house and you will say, O Holy Spirit, today, from this pulpit, if I have to be reproved, if you must rebuke me, if you must instruct me, my heart is open. If you have to shake me, shake me. If you have to humble me, humble me. But I want to hear from heaven. I want to hear the living Word of God. I don't want to be entertained. I don't want to hear men tell jokes. I don't want preachers to tell me I'm good when I know I'm suffering. I want a preacher to come from the brokenness of the altar of God. And if he has to be a prophet to me, if I'm in adultery, if I'm in pornography, if I'm living in sin, I want him to come to me and point a loving finger at my heart and say, you're the man, you're the woman, repent. Jesus loves you, but you must repent. The Bible says many shall follow their sensuous ways. And because of them, the truth shall be mocked. Peter wrote a warning to the church also. He said, I write this letter to stir you up. This is what he said. Remember what the prophets have spoken. Remember what the prophets have spoken. Remember the words of Christ spoken through the apostles. Remember this, Paul Peter said. In the last days there shall come scoffers walking after their own lusts and say, where is the coming of Christ? All things continue as they are. Peter is not talking about agnostics. He's not talking about atheists. He's not talking about street people. He's talking about the church of Jesus Christ. He said the time is coming that the church be so worldly minded, so lost in a maze of entertainment, so drunken in their spirits, that they will no longer yearn for the coming of Christ. They will never preach the coming of Christ. And I'm telling you that day has come. He said, scoffers will rise up. They will be on your pulpits. They will not tell you Jesus is coming. They will convince you that the world has to be completely converted first. There will be doctrines that make you leave the house of God, that make you eat and drink and be merry. He has passed off his coming. When I was a boy, when I was a child, every Sunday my preacher father and my preacher grandma father preached the coming of Jesus. He said, be ye ready for any moment Christ is coming. And we lived our lives under the glory of that message. I'm going to live for Christ. We will live a separated life because soon we stand before Christ. But the church has gone asleep. Pastor, when's the last time you preached on the coming of Christ? When did you preach it with such power and such faith in your own heart that people trembled because they were asleep because of them not because of demons not because of the spirit of the world but because of these preachers because of them the way of truth shall be scoffed at. We have preachers coming to New York City. They're renting auditoriums and they're coming with their money bags. They gather the crowds and they spend an hour raising money. And these are poor people. These are people that can't pay their bills. These are people that are so far behind in their bills. They're handed an envelope. The first thing you get when you come in they stick an envelope in your hand. And the first thing that's said give every dime you have. You give one dollar, God will give you ten dollars. And these people some of them who've gone out from our church and one lady comes to me and she mildly rebukes me You should not preach like you preach. You should be praying for these men. I said, I don't despise these men. I despise the doctrine they're preaching. I'm not their judge. I said, you've been going to these evangelists. You've been fed in this church. You've heard the whole gospel. You've heard about heaven and hell. You have been encouraged. You've been preached faith. A victorious life. But there's something in you. There's some kind of a desire. I want to be richer. I want to have more than I'm getting out of life. I said, answer me this question. What's the first thing was given to you? She said, an envelope. I said, how long did it take for the offering? She said, a long time. She said, I heard a good message. You see, the enemy will come with 95% gospel. With 5% poison. In Central Park. In New York City. There was an invasion of rats. And they spread poison. 95% pure grain. 5% pellets of poison. 1% of the grain was killed. And the other 1% was alive. I don't care how good a preacher sounds. You may hear something that sounds so deep. But it won't take you long. To find out. There will be no mention of your sin. And there will be a lot of talk about the money. I believe. I believe with all my heart. That a pastor is called. To teach his people how to give. And to give generously. To the cause of the vision of the church. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about that. But the Bible says that there's coming a lust. And a greed. And covetousness. What is the answer? How does God deal with his church? If it's to be a victorious church. If it's to be a church pure and sanctified. A church looking for his coming. If it's a church with prophets. Who have no desire for man's money. Totally without desire for materialism. A church that is really transforming lives. How is he going to get there? How does he work a miracle? How do we get from where we're at now. To this glorious overcoming church. God does not send angels. Not even warring angels. To proclaim the gospel. Or to change the hearts of the people. The Holy Spirit will come. And he touches individuals. He raises up men. And all through the Bible. When there was backsliding. God raised up a man. He raised up a woman. He raised up those that came. And he would separate them from the world. He would sanctify them. Shut them out. They would be shut in with God. And they would come out from the presence of God. So it was in Samson's day. The church was in chaos. In hiding. The enemy had overtaken the faith of the church. And in that chaos. God calls a man by the name of Samson. Samson starts out full of the Holy Ghost. He moved in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. It was more than just a commanding spirit. I have been to meetings. And I've heard men with commanding spirits. Their flesh is strong. And there is great passion. But soon you hear something that is false. But Samson had the anointing. The true anointing upon him. And the Spirit of God began to move on Samson. It came mightily upon him. And you remember he tore lions apart. He did great and mighty things. I meet so many pastors. Male and female. Evangelists. That at one time. Were men of such prayer. They were untouched by the world. And when they spoke. It would light a fire in your soul. You know God was speaking. And you know that what they're preaching. They didn't get it from another man. They didn't get it from a book. The Holy Spirit. Took them aside. Shared his heart. His hopes and his griefs. And you knew. I've been to services. Over the years. And I've heard young men get up. Didn't know much about doctrine. Didn't know much about how to put a sermon together. But they'd been with Jesus. You knew they had been with Jesus. When you go to church today. I'm talking to those who are not pastors now. Do you hear that certain sound from heaven? Do you hear the heart of God? Are you stirred in your spirit? In the hundreds of thousands of letters that come to our office in a year. So many people tell us. I hate Sunday morning. I hate the thought of going to my church. Because I know. Everybody is going to be watching their clocks. I know it's going to be the same thing over again. There's going to be some little sermonette. On how to cope with life. Some instructions for my job. Just how to get by another day or another week. And thousands and thousands cry out. I hate going to church. That's all over the United States. And all over the world. Brother, it should not be. I've told the Lord. If that ever happens. If I stand in the pulpit. And I'm a dead man. And there are dead words. Borrowed words. If it's words that are not anointed. Then I want to have you put me out in the pasture. Keep me out of the pulpit. All over the world. God still has a remnant. God has his men. God has his men in this room. And even right now while I'm preaching. There's a fire burning in your heart. And what God's having me do. And the words that are coming out of my mouth. All it's doing. It's breathing. A flame. Some of you. All that's left. Is a little burning fire. The fire's gone down. You've been discouraged. You see people preaching an easy gospel. And you see people don't want to hear a straight gospel. So you've just been a little bit defeated. But right now. The Holy Ghost is breathing. He's bringing up fire. He's throwing up a fire in your soul. When the Lord decided to build a church. A New Testament church. He didn't put a pencil in the hand of his disciples. He didn't put a tablet in their hands. He didn't say go through Jerusalem. Take a poll. Find out what they want. Find out what offends them. And let's build a church. That is not offensive. And let's design our gospel. So that they'll not be offended. And after they come. And after they're comfortable. Then we'll slip Jesus in. I heard that said by a Pentecostal preacher. We don't beat people over the head with a Bible. We don't bring Jesus in the front door. We bring Jesus in the side door. Pentecostal preacher with 10,000 people. How do you think that grieves the Holy Spirit? What did they preach in this church in Jerusalem? You see the cross is not preached anymore. Sin is not named anymore. But listen to what they preached in the upper room. And they preached on the streets of Jerusalem. And they preached it when the churches were established all over the known world. Imagine this being preached in some of our famous churches. Peter speaking. You have taken by wicked hands. You have crucified and killed the Lord. Now when they heard this. They were pricked in their hearts. They weren't comforted. They were touched. A knife in their bellies. They were not appeased. They didn't go to these people. And said by your wicked hands you have crucified the Savior. The sins have crucified him. And when they heard this. They were pricked in their hearts. And they said to Peter. And to the rest of the disciples. What shall we do? That should be the cry. In response. To what is being preached in every pulpit. In the United States. And in your nation. And the nations of the whole world. Our sins have crucified him. But he took our sins upon himself. Repent of your sins. But all we hear now. Just believe on Jesus and you are saved. Believe on Jesus and you are born again. That is not what the Bible says. Repent. Of your sins. There must be sorrow. Take your heart. And then turn to the Lord. Turn from your sins. And he will become your father. And you will become his son. That is the eternal gospel. Samson once preached the straight gospel. But then came the enemy. The enemy came to try to destroy this witness. Her name was Delilah. The Bible said she stood by the way. The devil put her in his path. Let me tell you what her name means in Hebrew. Ease up. Don't be so intense. Don't be so hard. That is her name. And here is how the devil came to the church. Don't make it so hard. Ease up. Drink a little wine. A little pornography. You are an adult. You can handle this. Bring your wife in and just justify it. Don't preach such a hard message. Ease up. And here came the enemy. Into the house of Delilah. The house of ease. A house that says ease up. And the doctrine now is take it easy. No more separation from the world. Cut your hair. You don't need to be a Nazarite now. You don't need to be a Nazarene. And that is the cry in this new modern church Ease up. Take it easy. And then a pastor sees a church overnight grows to thousands. And he knows what is being preached in that church. Let me tell you something. You take a prophet. A modern day prophet. I am not a prophet. But you show me one prophet. You show me one man who is in touch with God full of the grace of Christ who has been shut in with God and he slips in and he goes to the microphone of that church of Delilah. That church compromised. Ease up. And you see thousands of people going to hell because nobody has touched the sin problem. More people are going to hell in the church than outside the church. You put one prophet for 15 minutes just in love saying here is what God says. You have crucified him by your sins. You can't go to heaven with those sins. And he preaches 15 minutes under anointing. Let me tell you what happens. Over half the people will get up and run out the door. The other half will come and fall on their faces before God because they are hungry and they are thirsty and broken before God. Three times God comes to Samson and three times Samson toys with the Holy Ghost. And you know the story of a lost anointing and a man becomes so self-centered his eyes are plucked out that means loss of discernment. And that's what happens. You can be so wrapped up in an easy gospel. You can be so interested in building a kingdom you lose your eyes. You lose your discernment. And then the only thing left God's one last great act avenge my eyes. And I hear preachers say what a great thing he did. He killed more at his death than during his life. But his dying words because of my eyes not one word about God's people not one word about his sin just bitterness. Samson his discernment and his anointing I believe what the Bible says. God says I'm going to shake everything that can be shaken. I'm going to shake everybody who is at ease in Zion. Is that in your Bible? At ease in Zion. The prophet said they come to me now and say preach to us a smooth gospel. Don't preach to us that anymore. Don't preach a hard message to us anymore. Folks listen to me. I'm not talking about men who stand in the pulpit and they just rail and scream and they beat their people down. That's not the gospel. It's a man so broken. Folks I have not arrived. I speak out of weakness and everything I'm telling you I need to speak it over and over again to my own soul. But saith the Lord of hosts yet once again in a little while I'll shake the heavens the earth and the sea and the dry land I will shake all nations I will shake my house with my glory. That's what every prophet preached that there's going to be a glorious church without spot or without wrinkle and I don't know when but I know soon he is going to shake the whole earth and folks when that shaking comes and if that shaking comes on a Saturday and everybody's talking about it and every news program is talking about it and every Christian knows this is it yesterday the world will never be the same but oh tomorrow, Sunday I'm going to meet with the remnant I'm going to meet with those who believe like I do and in the middle of this shaking there's going to be a people say Jesus now pour out your spirit open the ears open the heart raise up prophets raise up men and women of God raise up elders and deacons pure and holy and righteous who will hear from God and once again it will be a church without spot or wrinkle washed in the blood of the land will you stand please this afternoon I told the Lord what's the reason to call a conference here in Costa Rica if it's only fellowship that's good and I see pastors together that have never been together before and that's scriptural God said he'll command his blessing on you but what good is it I said what's the purpose of flying down here what's the reason just to hear a few more sermons no just to leave and say we had a wonderful time no God brings a people together he speaks a word and he expects us to act on that word he expects me to go off this platform and pray with everything in my soul oh God help me to practice what I preach I've got so far to go but God is speaking to you has the spirit of Delilah been seducing you sir have you been thinking if I don't preach so hard if I just bless the people just make them happy more people will come or are you ruling and ready to say no Lord I will preach the gospel all the gospel no matter what the cost no matter if it costs me my church pastor if you're afraid that you're going to lose your paycheck I'm going to tell you honestly and I'm going to tell you in biblical language if you go along with the crowd if you want to preach what everybody else is preaching and ease up because you're afraid you won't get your paycheck the bible says you're a hireling you're a hired hand you say it's terrible to say I didn't say it the prophet said it I don't want to be a hired hand I'm not going to compromise the gospel because I don't want to offend people I'm going to stay true to the gospel at any cost at any cost the last thing I want to say to you I was standing here just before I came on the platform and a picture flashed ahead of me I remember in the old testament it talked about the prophet who saw an army of the lord and armies of horses surrounding him but I was asking the lord to give me some encouragement to preach what I had to preach and I saw I saw a horde just all around all around Costa Rica now wait a minute wait a minute this is what I see I see evangelists pastors teachers with money bags in their hands with another gospel just waiting to move in all over the hills a drawing of Costa Rica they are going to rob the poor they won't be thinking about feeding your children they won't come here to feed your poor they are not going to come to get you on your knees they are going to turn your eyes away from the coming of Jesus and they are going to turn your eyes on this on this this pocket book and God called this meeting and God began to speak clearly because I told you He wants to put a wall of fire to protect this nation from false doctrines from foolishness and those who want your money and the only way that's going to happen is through pastors and pastors wives who say no so far God has been protecting your country so far this is one of the cleanest countries we've seen this is one of the cleanest countries we've seen you've been able to say no but now you have to take a stand no not here not as long as we stand here hallelujah I know the Holy Spirit speaking and I know He's calling in love young pastor Bible school students young people God's calling you He's saying you're a different generation don't go for the money go for the presence of Jesus the presence of Christ now let me tell you how we'll close this meeting the Bible says if two or three agree together concerning anything on earth if Gary and I can come from the United States and feel this inner weeping of God if we can grieve if we can grieve with the Holy Spirit over your country this is your country why can't you feel this grief if we go home now and we get our church to pray God put a wall around Costa Rica then why can't you do it why can't you cry out to God I want you to agree together that God will pour out His Spirit and when the Holy Spirit is truly outpoured everything that's false everything focused on money it'll run it'll flee from you it won't want to come here because the Spirit of God is here and where the Spirit of God is everything of evil and sin is exposed it's exposed by the Holy Ghost I want everybody in the house to agree together I want you to turn in little groups four or five people and everybody agree and everybody pray send the Holy Ghost with an outpouring of His Spirit and protect this country from false doctrines and materialism and covetousness seek His face call on His name God's going to hear from heaven let God hear a cry from Costa Rica
