Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

The sermon then delves into the topic of being led by the Spirit of God and making Jesus Lord of our lives. The speaker emphasizes the need to align our actions with the Word of God and warns against the deeds of the flesh, which are evident and can be discerned by their fruit.
Sermon Transcription
When anyone receives revelation in the Word of God, it sometimes conflicts with what he has previously been taught. This causes you to have to deal with old traditions or wrong teaching. These tapes may contain some new light from God's Word, and it may be opposed to some traditions you have previously learned. Therefore, follow through these messages in your Bible, in sequence, in order that you may be able to make a choice for the Word of God rather than the traditions of men. This is tape number three in a series. We urge you to listen to all the tapes in the series in numerical order, so that the whole teaching can be received and understood. Listening to a part of this series, or to the tapes out of sequence, can lead to a misunderstanding of the nature, the intent, and the importance of this series. It does not belong to him. Now, we're going to look and see who the sons of God are, in verse 13. For if you are living according to the what? That's where you're living at? You reckon those Laodicea lukewarm folks was there? They already rich, already arrived? I'm increased in wealth and good, huh? They already arrived! God said he's poor. God said he's going to spit them out of his mouth. If you're living according to the flesh, you must die. But if you're living by the Spirit, here's what you're doing. Are we supposed to be living by the Spirit? I understand, however, if I read right correctly in verse 4, if I'm not living by the Spirit, I'm walking on the law, right? Huh? Well, let's see right here. If you're living according to the flesh, you must die. But if you're living by the Spirit, here's what you're doing. You're putting to death the deeds of the body, the flesh, you will live. May I ask you something? Did it say if you're led by the Spirit of God, you're putting to death the deeds of the flesh? Is that what your Bible said? Huh? Well, let's look at the next verse. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the ones that's what? Now, if you look at me. Did your Bible just say right here, this Bible you have in front of you, that sons of God are led by the Spirit of God, and the sons of God are led by the Spirit of God, put to death the deeds of the flesh? Is that what sons of God do? Does it say they're not walking out of the flesh? Is that what your Bible said? Did somebody come back and write a new Bible? You're gonna receive it. See, it's all lining up. Hey, we're just getting started. This is first day. We've got a few more scriptures left, haven't we? Right? There's a bunch. Now see, I want you to, when you see these things in the world, I want you to start receiving them. Okay. Now, let's look at who obedient children are in verse, well, let's look at verse 17. But if children, will you circle if children? If your children, your heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed, if indeed your children and fellow heirs, if indeed, we what? We'll suffer with him in order to be what? In order to be glorified with him. Let's read 21 and 22. That the creation itself, that's a new creation, also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of what? I want you to know the corruption in this world is slavery, the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of what? Come on in. But we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of what? Together with, until now. Do you know what those pains of childbirth is? Could that be the suffering and groaning and everything that, you know, waiting for the redemption to have this new body that the Lord has for us? Isn't that right? Dying. Well, let's look at that a little further then. I want you to turn with me over to 1 Peter 1. I like that about obedient children. We'll look at some more things about obedient children. 1 Peter 1, please. 1 Peter 1. All right. Let's look at what obedient children do. You know the Bible don't say to do one thing in one part and then not do it somewhere else, does it? All right. Now in verse 14, 1 Peter 1. As what kind of children? Will you please mark that obedient children? Just circle that. Do not be, what's that word right there? Conformed to the what? All right. What is a lust? That's a form of lust which you used to walk in, that you died to. Is that right? As obedient children, you're not conformed to the form of lust which were, please circle were, which were years and year what? All right. Now look at me. Some aren't looking again. The world, when Jesus come here to have the gospel, everybody walking in darkness. They don't know. They don't know they're puppets. They don't know that the powers of darkness are bouncing off the wall, just controlling them and playing games with them, destroying them and killing them. Until the light came. All right. What were they walking in? They were walking in ignorance and wise in their own eyes. Are you hearing me? So when you come to the Lord Jesus Christ as obedient children, it says it over and over and over, you are no longer to be conformed to this lust of the flesh, which was or were years in your ignorance before. You're a new creation. Old things have passed away. All things have become new. As Jesus Christ is in the world, so are you. Is that what your Bible says? Now folks, let me tell you something. The powers of darkness block off this talk about righteousness and holiness. They give you a little picture of the whole of this rolling sawdust and things like that. Let me tell you something. I want you to look at the next step right here. This says, verse 15, but like the who? Holy one is the Lord Jesus Christ, who what? He called you be holy yourselves in all, all, all, all your behavior. You're not being holy folks when you live after any part of the lust of the flesh. Is that plain? You're blocked from holiness. And that's the reason it's left out of the church today. You don't even hear much about it. Walking right in God's eyes. Righteousness. Being holy as He is holy. And it tells you, you abstain from the lust of the flesh first. You cannot be holy. You're not going to have holiness, you know, as long as a person wants to live after the lust of the flesh. Do you understand that? Now let me tell you something. This thing of grace is perverted. Let me tell you what the grace is. The grace of God is the power that empowers you to walk in this Word. Covenant to walk in, not analyze it. The grace of God empowers you to be something you ain't. You become something you're not. And we explain away the power of God. I'm telling you, this Word is to obey, to be a doer of the Word. What James 1 said, those who are not a doer of the Word, they deceive themselves. They're deceived. All right, now. Because it is written, verse 16, you shall be holy for I am holy. Let's look at chapter 2 there, please. Chapter 2, let's look in verse 11. Verse 11. Beloved, I urge you as alien and strangers to what? What do you want you to abstain from? Fleshly lust, which wage, what's that word? Is that what we was talking about a while ago? Which wage war against your what? So, look at me. Your Bible that you have in front of you said to abstain from fleshly lust, die to it. Which sons of God put it to death? Which wage war against your mind, will and emotion? Because when you don't die to the flesh and the process of dying to it, you've got an open door for the powers of darkness to come against your soul, which is your mind, your will. Do you ever see people's will just get beat down and beat down and beat down and just drift over? And your emotions, that's where the world is tore up all to pieces out there and hanging in there. There's the world in the church. Skip this and hang in there. And that's how it all gets in there. That is how the church is demonized. That's where we started at this morning. And I've become so plain to you. I want you to know this just first morning. Now, when you have understanding, brother and sister, listen to me. When you have understanding, you know what you can do? You can deal with it. If you wasn't brave enough to come here and let us talk about it with your Bible in front of you, you'd just keep hanging in there. Now, he said to abstain from fleshly lust. Now, I think I need to stop one more time and explain this, which wage war against your soul, your mind, will, and emotions, so you can understand what this Scripture is saying. Let's start with old Bob. Bob, let me use you again, brother. Now, toward Bob. If I don't resist the devil in that, if I go ahead and listen to him, I'm not abstaining from fleshy lust, am I? So this comes up, and I give that devil, I give him, he gets an agreement with him, and bang! It's just unforgiveness and unforgiveness. What do you think makes these people... Well, for instance, like people who are alcoholics, and they tell them, you know, if your liver and everything is torn up, if you go out there and have one more drink, if you ever drink again, you're going down, you see them just personize, personize, personize, but compulsion, got to go do it. I'm going to give you some more examples. They got to go do it because they're driven. There's a force that's living in them that's stronger than them because they do not have the weapons of God to stand against it. Now, you're being told what the weapons are right here. Either jump in or jump out. If you want a war against your emotions, hang in there! If you want it to come against your mind... But when I choose right there to not resist the devil, and I ignore him, I let this unforgiveness come, he comes in and opens the door for other things, the criticism, the bitterness, the hurt feelings and all these things, which is continuous walk. There is no peace in it! The peace walk is denying and putting death to flesh. It's walking right in God's eyes, which is righteousness, led by the Spirit of God. Shake your head if you understand what I'm saying. Okay. All right, now let's go on. You know, I'm going to throw in an extra one here. Back up to verse 8 right there. I'm going to back up to 7. This precious value, this, then, is for you who believe, but for those who disbelieve, the stone which is Jesus, which the builders rejected, but this became the very cornerstone, and here's what Jesus is. He is a stone of stumbling. He's a rock of offense. I mean, people are offended by having to walk against the flesh and obey the Word of God. The flesh doesn't want to go out. They're offended, for they stumble. Stumble, that means stagger, because they are what? Disobedient to the Word and to this doom they were also appointed. Turn over to verse 21. 21. For you have been called for this purpose since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you a what? He leaving you an example for you to follow in his steps. Chapter 4. You remember we read it? Now I think I'm just going to run through it again. It's very important Scripture. Therefore, verse 1, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. Amen. All right, now, verse 2. So as we don't live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lust of men, we don't live for the lust of people. What do we live for? The Word of God that's walking right in God's eyes. We break this covenant of lust of the flesh, which is in covenant with Satan. We break it. We have a change of heart. We're walking in a new direction, which is the will of God, which is the righteousness of God. Amen. Now in verse 12. So you're going to know. You're going to get tested. Verse 12. Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your what? Testing. You'd be amazed how the powers of darkness use people to hymn you up to bring persecution and affliction and things to get your mind off this and get it off of God, get it off the Word. As though some strange thing were happening to you. Let's look in verse 13. But to the degree that you share the what? You share the sufferings of Christ. You suffer in the flesh when you resist sin. Keep on rejoicing so that all sorts of revelation is glory. You may rejoice with exultation. Verse 14. If you are avowed for the name of Christ, you are blessed. Now where do you want your blessings to come from? The men or God? Well, if you're avowed and spoken of because the Word of God, God says, I'm going to bless you. I like that. I'd rather have God's approval than your approval. I hope you feel the same way. Folks, I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what sets you free. The Lord's put this body together to be one, but I want to tell you something. It's a whole lot of comfort to me to know whatever things the devil might want to point out and been wrong with me, things I don't know and whatever like that. When I walk up that step right now, I know one thing. If I don't have no folks anywhere, I'm telling you, that's a very comforting thing to know you have God. I mean, I just know what I know, what I know, what I know, what I know, what I know, what I know. I've got God. And that's not a total loss, is it? So that's the way we all should be. I'm telling you, with God, you've got God. See, that's a good point of view, isn't it? Right? God doesn't set you up where you're going to be cute or smart or get glory or that you're anything. I'm not saying it at that point of time, but it's a very sad thing to stand against all this condemnation and guilt and everything that comes against you. All right, now, you're blessed if you're reviled for the name of Christ because of the Spirit of glory and God rests upon you. Now, verse 8. I hope you've got your big pencil ready, folks. Just only look at one thing down there in verse 9. It's the last part. I want you to see who he's talking to. Who's he talking to? Brethren? You see it down at the last part of that? He's talking to the brethren. Will you please circle brethren? Circle brethren. Use that, circle it twice. Oh, I'm sorry. You don't have to scream at me. 1 Peter 5, verse 9. Now, we're talking to the brethren there in verse 9. You see it there. I want you to circle. Now, we're going to start up in verse 8 and see what he's telling the brethren. Okay? Okay. Verse 8. Be of what kind of spirit? Sober. If you care to, just write serious. You are serious about the things of God. Amen? It says to be of serious. I mean it's not lighthearted. I mean this is serious right here. Okay? Be of serious spirit. Be on the what? Alert. Now, let me tell you what. An alert person is not asleep. We're going to be seeing before we get through Friday. We're going to look at the folks that are asleep like sleeping virgins and things like that. And see what they look like. See what they're doing. See where they're walking. See how they're talking. Now, I'm going to tell you an alert person is not asleep. Now, he said the brethren are serious and alert and not asleep. Is that right so far? All right, let's go on. Your adversary, the devil. Now, I'll tell you what. You can just throw it in there. The powers and darkness, the demons and everything. Here's what they do. They prowl about like a roaring lion. They are the beast. They're seeking someone to what? All right, now, you're warned right there in Jesus' name that you to be serious. You be awake. Take every thought captive to the beatitude of Jesus because you're having to stare at the demons. They're around all the time seeking someone to devour, to get into. Are you hearing me? All right, now, let's go into verse 9. But ignore them. Now, about four times I want you to circle that, resist them. But resist them. But resist the powers of darkness. All right, now, we've already been told how we resist them. Is that right? Shake your head. All right, but we resist them. Firm in our what? What is our faith? God, look at me. Like in this situation. I've got you again, Bob. And unforgiveness come to it. Bob, and he's talking to me. I resist that unforgiveness because my faith is in God sent me to forgive. Amen? So I put up the shield of faith against that flaming missile. That same thing it says on Ephesians 6. Can you hear me? But I resist the devil firmly with my shield of faith. Amen? My faith is in my covenant with the Lord. I mean, if God doesn't come through, I'm sunk. And He always does. Amen? That's the way He likes it. All right, now, just a minute. Just a minute. Let me share this. The brethren are sober, serious. The brethren are alert. They are resisting the devil. Is that what your brethren see and so forth? They're resisting the devil firmly because their faith is in the Word of God, not in words or theology or what anybody is saying. Their faith is right here, knowing that the same experiences of what? Please circle that. Suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. Folks, brethren, suffer. Is that what your Bible tells you right there? Every time you resist, when you're resisting the devil, you're resisting the flesh. Amen? Can you see that? Shake your head. Look at me here a minute. I want to explain this to you. If you miss this, you're going to miss a bunch. If you miss, when I resisted that unforgiveness, I suffered in the flesh, didn't I? Well, that's what the brethren do. They resist the flesh. It says it over and over and over. Isn't that right? Abstain from fleshly lust. Make no provision for the lust of the flesh. Over and over. As we've been saying, we're going to see a lot more after lunch. Right? But see, I suffered in the flesh. And this is what brethren do. This is what the sons of God do. When we saw in Romans 8, they're led by the Spirit of God. They put to death the flesh. Is that what you read in your Bible? This right there says that you're resisting these powers of darkness. Firm in your faith. And that's a shield of faith that's up there. You say, I resist you unforgiveness. I won't receive that in Jesus' name, Lord. I receive love and forgiveness through Bob right here. See? I put up the shield of faith. And these same experience. But I suffered in my flesh. My flesh wanted to get Bob. But I suffered. I resisted. And I began the process of dying. Of dying. And I suffered. But I didn't sin. I put up the shield of faith because I was serious. And I was on the alert. I took that thought captive and put up the shield of faith against that devil. Can you hear what I'm saying? All right, now. Now, here's the good part. The brethren in it. But let's just... I want you to run. If you got sober and alert, I want you to run a line to them. Okay? Just draw you a line right through those Scriptures. Sober, alert. Then draw you a line to resist him. And draw a line to your faith. Then draw a line to suffering. And then draw a line to brethren. Because this is what brethren do. They're sober, alert. They resist the devil in their faith. And they suffer when they're doing it. Amen? But now, here's what the Lord is going to do in your life as you continue to walk in this. In verse 10. And after you have what? You've gone ahead. Now, you're being tested by fiery trial, aren't you? What are you proving? That your heart's to the Lord. Isn't that right? After you've suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, He Himself is going to... Number 1. He's going to perfect you. Number 2. He's going to confirm you. Number 3. He's going to strengthen you. Number 4. He's going to establish you in Jesus' name. Is that strong? He's going to do it. After you're tested with the fiery test. And I'm telling you what. If you're not resisting the devil, you're not resisting the flesh. Because they're all the time talking to you flesh. Keep your mind right up here. Get your heart. Now, you understand before. I've come to the Lord. My heart loves to live right to my garden. But I've got a new home. Hey, not living for this temporal thing anymore. I'm living for eternal life. My mind set on T-throw things. All right. In chapter 2. I mean, 2 Peter is what I'm talking about now. 2 Peter, chapter 1. Let's look at verse 4. For by these He has, you might say, already granted us His precious and magnificent promises. That's what we've been reading about. These promises right here. That He's promising. In order that by them. That's these promises. You might become partakers of what kind of nature? Folks, you have a new nature. You don't walk, talk and act like the devil. Or the world. You've got a divine nature. You walk, talk and act like God. By these promises, you might become a taker of a divine nature. Like God. And this is what you escape. Having escaped the corruption that's in this world. By what? Lust. You don't walk there. That's why you're going to be peculiar. And when you get around everybody, it convicts them. They have to find something wrong with you. They might question you closely about many subjects. Or they might catch you in something you might say. It only gets you out of the law with them. They might spy out your freedom. Let me tell you something. You don't have the powers of darkness, do you? When you line yourself up with the Word of God, they bring all the people that don't line up. They control them. The powers of darkness use people they don't even suspect. In about a couple of years, I've been a Christian. And it's one of those things. I didn't look for what the Lord just propelled me into. Praying for sick people there. And I didn't have any experience of that. The only thing I'd been near that is just watched a little of it on television and so forth. And once in a while around the house. By the way, Carlos, you were on that trip then. You weren't your brother. That's right. I was in 76. I'm glad you're here. At least everybody's here, aren't they? But on this particular trip, we just paired up and went to different parts of the country. And I got away around the world. And I wonder what someone like me was, you know, all I had was my testimony. I couldn't even share it. But anyway, on the first night when George Hahn, a friend of mine from Louisville and I got to this place, we were a day late and the meeting was already going that night. And I shared my testimony and that was all there was left. And I had an interpreter. And that was something kind of new and different. And I sat down and I wondered what I was going to do the rest of the time. But after I sat down and George was sharing there, this Anglican pastor leaned over. And he said, Brother Green, will you pray for rain? Now, he had to say that about four times before I could understand what he was saying. And, of course, I got a little used to the accent after I'd been there a while. But, you know, all I had was my testimony. Here this man is asking me to pray for rain. He said, It hasn't rained in four years. I didn't say four days or four weeks or four months. I mean in four years. And I learned something about the Spirit of God that night because the Lord just moved on to me to do something I wouldn't normally do. I told him I would. So I got up there. And they had an interpreter for me. And just in an awkward way, as a little carpet cleaner might love Jesus would do, I just asked them to lift their hands up. I'd been free ever since I'd known Jesus. And so we just lifted up our hands. And there were just hundreds of people out there sitting on the ground. We had a crude speaker system out in front of this small church. And so I had a couple of scriptures and we used them. And we prayed for it. And I started to turn and get back down, sit back down. And then I remembered. And the Lord just impressed me, you know, just thanking for the rain. Now folks, it hadn't rained in four years. And he'd already told me, the devil already told me, that if it doesn't rain, they'll not listen to another thing you say here. But then I was impressed to come back and we just lifted our hands back up. You could just touch the stars. They're just hot and tropical in the southern part of India. And no clouds. And I asked them to just lift their hands back up and let's thank the Lord for the rain. Now see, I didn't do that because there's anything unusual about me. It's just that the Spirit of God, folks, when you're just really askew, you're just obsessed with Jesus. He'll just move on you to do things you just won't normally do. That ended the service. And they had a little school room for George and I to stay in with some little bunks, hangover about that far. But I was so tired, jet-lagged and so forth, and, boy, I could have leaned up against a wall and gone to sleep. And I can't tell you what was in my heart. I wanted that rain. I just loved those people. And they just had such an innocence about them and such a trust. And I'd just seen such poverty hurting people. And I knew their problem wasn't food or shelter. Their problem was a spiritual problem, just like it is here. Kind of a different way. I'd say, God, if you want me to pray, make me wide awake when I lay down on this bench or bunk or whatever. And George was already asleep. And I laid down and my eyes just wide open. I'm not telling you this story to point anything toward me. I want you to understand I'm telling this because of someone that's sitting here and because I've shared it before. So I just couldn't get up. I was so tired. And we'd just been traveling all over and had delays and so forth. I got on the side of the bunk. And I just began weeping and crying and just asking the Lord what was already put in my heart. It was a tile roof, places you could just see through it. And just a short time after we got in the room there that I heard a noise and I just lifted up my head and thought it was the wind. And it was pouring rain. It rained and rained and I woke up old George and we just had a fit together. The people who live there began they put things around their house, you know, every kind of utensil that would hold water. Now I didn't say four months, I said four years. Four years. Now don't you just think. Can you imagine what that place looked like? It was about three days later that this Pastor Phillip's wife who had just really kind of withdrawn and everything, but she just kind of sneaked up close enough and said, enough rain. So I knew the Lord had healed me. It's all right with me to talk about what the Lord did, isn't it? Okay. I knew the Lord had healed me. And I became very interested in what the Bible had to say about healing. You can. All you have to do is just be dying and you'll just start being real interested in healing scripture. And I knew where a few of them were. And you know I got to thinking about all the deformed and hurting. I'm telling you what. And their faces, oh my goodness. Just precious, precious people. And I told George, I said, George, you know, we got the rain. That's what I was thinking, we got the rain. I said, George, I believe the Lord wants us to pray for the sick. And immediately, that quick, George put his finger right up in my nose and said, Milt, don't you start that stuff. God don't want to heal everybody. Well, the only reason I said it, it was in my heart. I didn't really know how to do it. I just knew it was in there. And so I didn't want to, you know, come halfway around the world and battle my buddy, so I just kind of dropped it. But here's the real interesting thing about the next night. I had shared something. They thought I was a preacher. I think I read 1 John to them that night. And I came and sat down and George, you know, kind of ended the thing. He had a lot more seniority than I did. He'd been a Christian about a year longer than I had, see. So he kind of closed things out. And here this Anglican pastor leaned over to me again, and he said, Brother Green, I'm understanding him a little better now. He said, Well, you pray for the sick. I didn't have any idea how he was going to do that. I really honestly before him, I'm telling you the truth, but I knew I was just consumed with it. Now, I'd pray for some around the house, and I'd watch them do this on television. So I kind of got tickled when he said them. I said it, didn't I? And there's old George. He's up there still sharing with the interpreters and so forth. And I could just see his finger in my face and hear the Lord. It just worked all this out. And I knew it was the Lord. There wasn't anything being smart about it. Boy, I just, man, I just, boy, it was a compulsion to me. I just wanted to do it, and that wasn't a normal thing for me to want to do. But anyway, after the service was over, he got up and announced in Indian, and he told all of those. See, those service, the last 10, 30, 11, and he was telling everyone it wasn't going to be prayed for, to be healed, to go ahead and leave, and the rest to come inside the church. See, we'd been meeting outside. There wasn't enough room. They were just hundreds of people that were sitting on the ground and so forth. So the people began to go in the church, and I just turned and began walking to go in the church too. And George kind of called up to me. I knew he would. And he said, Mel, why are we going in there? And I said, Lord, the Lord wants us to pray for the sick, George. And George didn't say anything, and I, you know, just kind of kept walking. I thought he was with me, and I got up front up there, and I thought George and I, but he's way in the back there. He's a real standoffish, you know. And, but it was in my heart, and I shared Scripture because I knew that any, I already knew in my heart I didn't want any people's eyes on me. I wanted them on the Lord Jesus Christ because I knew I had, you know, you don't have a whole lot of seniority to know when the Lord puts something in your heart. And I didn't do this like people normally do. I watched people do it and everything because the women would sit on one side and the men on the other on straw mats. Such hurting, hurting people. It broke your heart. It absolutely broke your heart. And I just started down the front row. And there was about three or four people under such conviction that God is such a supernatural thing. Because, you know, some people received Jesus, and some, I mean, received Jesus. And this is what this was. They were little babies, just little, hungry, precious, and, you know, mothers. I can just see their faces, you know. They're just so hurt and just so, you know, hopeless and beat. And I can just remember seeing their faces. And, you know, I never experienced this before, but I just didn't. Just a simple, you know, simple way just to lay hands on their head. Just on the front row right there. Just starting with the front row. The church was full and just fevered. And their head would just feel like a hot plate, and it just turned cool right under my hand as I began praying. We came on down there a little further. There was a little baby with a... And I've shared this. I wouldn't normally share this, but I'm going to tell you why I'm sharing this particular time. There was a little baby with a little deformed leg. His little belly was swollen. His mother just... And see, I didn't understand all that. Like, I can look back now and see a lot more than I could see right then. But the little baby's leg was not only deformed, but it was much shorter than the other leg, one of them. And the legs were actually smaller than normal size. And I wasn't making any big scene about it. It was just a quiet thing just moving from one to another in the presence of the Lord was there. And as I was holding those little baby's legs in my hand there, this one deformed leg began just straightening out right there in my hand. And it began straightening out. And not only did it straighten out, it grew out in my hand. As that little leg began growing out, I said, George, and George said, I'm right behind you, Milt, I see it. Now, that makes a good story, but I'm telling you the truth. And I'm telling you, and I've kind of noticed a silence. You know, a lot of times when I've shared that story before. But we just went back to India. About 27 men went over and got to share with about a thousand native evangelists and pastors. And the man, the school teacher in India who was my interpreter. Oh, how I just loved him. And, you know, we walk in our airport holding hands. Brought him back. Brought him back with us this time. And he was the interpreter that was interpreting there when the little baby's leg grew out. And to watch paralyzed people. You know, and all of a sudden you're praying for them. You know, finally just praise to many people. But you don't even close your eyes and just see the arms just fly up. Everyone didn't get healed. But I saw him down there just now. And someone had to go buy him a coat. He don't have air conditioner over him. It's been destroying him here and everywhere he goes. They're freezing him to death. So my mind... Won't you stand up, Justice? Have I ever seen a gift of love in a man? You know, we were going to a place to pray in a village. Just he and I, we kind of finally came to a little place to stay. And it had two little beds in it, you know, and everything. And in the dark, we were so tired. We'd been traveling. And the most unusual thing, here come a hand over. It's laying in bed. And we were holding hands, you know. Isn't that precious? Isn't that something? Boy, I'll tell you what. I learned a bunch. Well, good to have you, brother. Turn to Galatians 5, please. Galatians 5. Galatians 5. I want to start... Let me ask you something. Are you beginning to see the ministry of the power of the darkness, too? Amen? Okay. Now, we want to pursue this. Galatians 5, verse 13. For you were called to freedom, brethren. Only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh. But through love, serve one another. Now, you see, we can be in the Spirit, and the Lord can put us in a position. I quite often, you know, particularly when the Lord first used me, tell you how great and how smart you are, and how good you are when the Lord used you or something. And he's always telling you how to take advantage and make an opportunity for the flesh. Make a name for yourself. Have some... Well, you don't want to tell me. These things just flood your mind. If these demons can't prevent something, they pervert it. They pervert it. Now, in verse 15. But if you bite... Now, this is what you're doing when you're in the flesh. But if you bite and devour one another, take care lest you be consumed by one another. That's been a way of life. Verse 16. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you're not going to carry out the what? You think the Lord's trying to tell you something? If you're led by the Spirit of God, you're not going to carry out the desires of flesh, and you are not supposed to carry out the desires of flesh. And when you carry out the desires of flesh, you've got a war against your soul. Now, verse 17. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit. Now, see, the flesh is in agreement with the devil. Is that correct? Satan. And the Spirit against the flesh. Now, the Spirit's in agreement with God. For these are in opposition of one another. Do you see that? Now, I want you to get ready with your big pencils so that you may not do the things you please. There is your desires of the flesh, your lust of the flesh. Just write it out with that verse. You may not do the things you please when you're walking after Jesus. I don't care who tells you that you can. God says you can't. Now, in verse 18. But if you are led by the Spirit, there it is again, you're not on the law. Now, I'm going to tell you what, folks. If you let yourself get on the law, you're in torment. You're in torment. But if you're under grace, you're led by the Spirit of God, you're in peace. Now, it says if you're led by the Spirit, you're not on the law. Now, may I turn around and ask you this? If you're led by the flesh, are you under the law? Who's controlling your life then? Does being a church member cause you to be led by the Spirit? Does saying words cause you to be led by the Spirit of God? You decide. If Jesus is not Lord, it's a very simple thing. Make Him Lord. Just make Him Lord. As Jeremiah says, if you fell down, get back up again. If you need to repent, repent. Don't try to justify something that doesn't line up with the Word. Okay. Now, we're going to look at the deeds of the flesh. And as we look at these, I want you to totally forget about the powers of darkness. Just forget about you've ever heard about a demon while we look at the deeds of the flesh right here. I want you to see what it says. Now, the deeds of the flesh, I want you to mark the deeds of the flesh are what? Evident. So, let me tell you another way to say this. The fruit of the flesh is evident. That's what he's saying right there. The fruit of the flesh is evident. You can tell what the fruit of the flesh is. Now, let me tell you something, folks. I want you to look at me just a minute. The problem so many times when we read the Word, I'm going to tell you what a stronghold is. It's when you read the Bible, you want to fit it in some box you've got it built back here. If it won't fit in your box, you reject it. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Now, let's have our hearts open and our eyes open here because some of this won't fit in the boxes. Amen? Now, let me just put it another way. This is the structure. You can kind of get tunnel vision if the only way you want to look at the Bible is through Pentecostal eyes. You can kind of get tunnel vision if the only way you want to look at it is through Charismatic eyes. You can kind of get tunnel vision if the only way you want to look at it is through Baptist eyes, through Methodist eyes. Now, let me tell you something, folks. Righteousness is looking at it through God's eyes. All right, now let's kind of drop all our point of views except God's point of view. Will that be all right? Can you do that? If you can't, you can be set free from it. It's a stronghold. If something whispers to you up there and tells you, that won't fit, reject. Kick it out. Now, I'm going to tell you something, folks, to set you free. Now, I'm going to tell you something. When you leave here on Friday, you're not going to be my followers. And I'm going to tell you, I don't have one word for you except one thing. Yesterday. And He's leading you in a way you've never been before. You can always tell something when it's a move of God or a Bible of God. I'm going to tell you how you can tell. It doesn't center around folks. It doesn't center around somebody who hasn't got it boxed up, calling it their works. No one's getting a glory. Do you hear me? Now, listen. That little old trumpet sounding today, open your ears up and don't try to fit it in anything you've seen before because there's a whole bunch that the Lord wants to teach us. A lot. When everybody already knows it, all they're wise in their own eyes. And when you get wise in your own eyes, you're proud. You don't even need God. God needs you. You're a fool. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. I'm going to tell you something. We're a needy, afflicted people. And I've watched so many hurting people. I'm going to tell you something, folks. What matters today is what God is saying, not what folks are saying or what traditions are saying. The only thing that matters. I'm telling you. He's so precious and so sweet. He wants us to love Him. He doesn't want us to be divided. But I'm not going to be the one that builds or tells how to build. I'll build up the body. This is what this meeting is about. To build up the body of Christ. We're going to let Jesus build this next church. Do you know it? We're going to let Jesus build the next church. Now, verse 19. The deeds of the flesh is evident. Now, these are not good, by the way. Which are immorality, cover of multitude of things. Immorality, impurity, sensuality. That's being led by feelings. Idolatry. Boy, it can be any number of things. Can I stop and tell you something? Jesus is not going to be one of your idols. If you think Jesus is going to be one of your idols, you need to get saved. You don't know the Lord if you think He's one of your idols. You're deceived. Idolatry. Here's the deeds of the flesh. Now, I want you to understand that these things cover a multitude of things. Sorcery. Enmities. Strife is a deed of the flesh. Look at that. Jealousy is a deed of the flesh. I hope you mark that extra good. Outburst of anger is a deed of the flesh. Disputes are the deeds of the flesh. Dissensions are the deeds of the flesh. Factions. Boy, ain't there a lot of factions. Folks, we learn how to fit together now. Do you know it? The Lord's teaching us how to fit together. All this thing that the devil has us so divided and opposed, like a bunch of high school football teams. You're the red, blue, black, and white, and opposing and speaking and murdering one another. We're programmed to hate one another. Somebody said, Well, Brother Green, we haven't been taught to hate somebody. I said, If you don't hate them, if you don't love them, what do you call it? The body of Christ loves one another. We love one another. Our ambition is to please the Lord. I want you to be a success in Jesus. And the only way you'll be a success in Jesus is for us to get in on what Jesus is doing. Now, are you seeing these deeds of the flesh? Let's look at some more. Envying. There's envy and jealousy. Do you see that? Drunkenness. Carousing. And things. I want you to mark that. Like these, there are dozens and dozens. And these are just headings and captions for a multitude of things. Now, watch very closely. He's got something else to say here. Of which I want forewarn you. Now, when God warns us about something, do you think we ought to just say, Ho-hum. No, He's got a warning right here. Now, if you run into anything you don't like, just take your little scissors out and just cut it out right here. I forewarn you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Is that plain? Plain? Put that on your refrigerator. Well, that's a pretty interesting thing right there. Half God really said, Yeah, we just read it there. Didn't we? In your Bible. That Bible right in front of you. You just saw it. Now, there is the fruit of the flesh. It's already in every person's flesh. It's supposed to be dead and put to death. Is that correct? Is that what we've read? Now, who do you think comes and stirs this thing up and makes it a way of life? Now, you're seeing why you take every thought, have you? You know why you resist the devil. And when you don't resist these things in your life, are you seeing how the enemy brings a war against your soul? He gets ground. You get in agreement with the devil in your heart. You forget about that stained glass keeping them out. It's a walk. You sit in the front pew. You can preach. I don't care where you are. I mean, it's a walk with Jesus. God's protection and heads are weapons for people who walk with Him. It's an overcoming life. Now, but, in verse 22, we see the opposite of that. The fruit of the Spirit, we see the opposite of the fruit of the flesh is the fruit of the Spirit. We can see. Look here. I can see what kind of seed you're receiving in your heart there when I see what kind of fruit you have. I can see where you're coming from. But the fruit of the Spirit is what? Now, this only comes from God and it only comes in walking in covenant with God. You don't get the fruit of God. Hey, listen. Are you branches? Do you ever see a branch? Look at me. Get out by itself and bear fruit? No, it's going to have the vine, isn't it? I don't want to tell you something. You will only have fruit in your life when you start putting this to death and you acting and walking in the Word of God. Covenant. That's the only way. Okay, now. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience. Boy, that's good, isn't it? Kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Now, here it says it again. Against such things there is no law. Now, the walk of the Spirit is the walk of the image and likeness of God. Do you understand that? Do you understand that this covenant was made, that Jesus Christ came as an example and He walked and you made covenant in Him and the power of the cross and the grace of God and the power of the Lord Jesus Christ puts to death the flesh? We just reckon it, so walk in it and get in on it. Right? And rest in it. Now, here is a very, very important... Let me ask you something. Do you belong to the Lord Jesus Christ? All right, here's a verse for you. Verse 24. Now, those who belong to Christ Jesus... Now, here's what... If you belong to Christ Jesus, here's what you've done. You've crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Now, later on, if we can get into it, I want to show you the Church of Babylon. The Church of Babylon leads people by the flesh. Incidentally, let me tell you what the Church of Babylon is. You don't want to be programmed to think it's a Catholic church. If you're always looking over somewhere else, you're not looking... You know, somebody waiting for the world church to start and they're sitting in it. See, the world has moved into the church, folks. Don't be offended by it. It's your flesh. Psalm 119, 165 says, Great peace, how they that love thy word, and nothing shall offend them. Now, if you belong to Christ Jesus, you've crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If you're in Babylon, you teach. You lead people after passions and desires. See what I'm saying? Well, we're going to look at Babylon, I hope. Now, verse 25, If we live by the Spirit, let us also... What? Well, are you seeing, folks? You see that big word, walk? If you're led by the Spirit, it's going to show up. Now, look at me. Look at me. I come here and I make a decision. And my walk shows whether I'm a disciple or not. You know what? I get over here. If I wonder what kind of decision I've made, look what's behind me. What kind of fruit have I been bearing? Dumpster. Well, somebody might say, Well, trust your decision. Don't trust it if it didn't make Jesus Christ Lord. Repent. Come back over here. Make Jesus Christ Lord. Immediately make Him Master. And you're controlled by the Spirit of God. And then it says right here, If you're... What does it say right here? If you live by the Spirit, let us what? You're going to walk by the Spirit. Is that right? You walk by the Spirit of God. That's where you're walking. And you're living an overcoming life. Now, that doesn't mean that there might not be some sin, and single sin, but you're not going to sin. You're going to get whipped out of it. If you're not chastised, Martin, if you're not whipped out of it, you're a bastard. You're a harlot. Now, I want you to watch this next verse. Let us not become what? We'd never boast about our works, would we? Our nickels, noses, and numbers, or anything like that, would we? We wouldn't boast about... You know, we go into the boastful pride life, that's the world of the church. Challenging one another. We wouldn't speak against someone else because in being one another, and that wouldn't do that. Now, see, here's the way all of us are. In verse... You go to 6, verse 1. If a man is caught in any trespass, you who are a spiritual restorer of such a one in the spirit of gentleness. Wouldn't it be something if we wanted to act that way instead of challenging one another? Saying these things? Murder? Hey! Stone him to death! Kill him! Well, I wonder where that's coming from. I want you to look with me in verse 7. Verse 3 is pretty good while we're there. For if anyone thinks he's something when he's nothing, he deceives himself. Verse 7, do not be what? May I ask you something? If God says, do not be deceived, is it a possibility you could be deceived? You're not too smart that you couldn't be deceived. Is that right? There just might be something you don't know. Is that correct? Okay? Let's see what it is. We just received this now, Lord, in Jesus' name. Do not be deceived. God is not what? He's not mocked. I mean, you don't get by with it. For whatever a man sows, this he will also what? Now, let me show you how that works. God's not mocked. You see, when your motives are your heart, and your heart gets in agreement with the devil, and the lust of the flesh right there, I already told you it opens up a war against your soul, your mind, will, and emotions, right? So when you want to sow, and you want to let your heart live that way and everything, you've got a war. God's not mocked. But what you're sowing, you're reaping. Are you seeing it? Huh? Let me say that again. If we read on in 1 Peter, to abstain from fleshly lust, that war is against your soul. Is that right? This concludes tape number 3. Please fast-forward this tape to return it to the beginning. Please proceed to tape number 4, where this message continues.
