To that marvelous chapter, Matthew chapter 11, Matthew chapter 11 beginning in verse number 25. Beloved, I cannot communicate the depths of what I feel in my spirit. Beloved, the Spirit and the Bride say, Come, Him that is a thirst, come. Not to Las Vegas, not to Atlantic City, but come unto Jesus. Beloved, He is your victory. The crisis of this hour, and the Holy Ghost will bear witness to this. The crisis of this hour is there is a Spirit that is working in the world, and this Spirit is seducing a generation of unbelievers, and is molesting the religious system. And its intent is to take the eye and the heart from the blessed Son of God, so that His victory, and His life, and His holiness, and His righteousness, which is indestructible, which is incapable of being perverted, or distorted, or weakened, will not become yours. For in Him, there is victory, and apart from Him, there's everything but victory. Matthew chapter 11, beginning in verse number 20, Then He began to upraid the cities wherein most of His mighty works were done, because they repented not. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven... That's a term that illustrates the arrogance of that city. The unwillingness of that city to humble themselves before the blessed Son of God, and sit at His feet, and say, Yes, Lord, what wilt that I do? No, they wouldn't. Therefore, Jesus says, Unto those who reject mercy, unto those who reject the blessed gospel of Jesus Christ, thou shalt be brought down to hell. For if the mighty works which have been done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained unto this day. But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for thee. Beloved, these are some of the most terrifying and sobering statements in the New Testament. Jesus, in verses 20 to 24, pronounced judgment upon cities who refused to repent and turn to the Lamb of God. John the Baptist said, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world. Anyone who beholds the Lamb of God in faith and believes on Him, as far as the east is from the west, so far hath the Lord removed our iniquities and our transgressions. They refused to behold. They were under the influence of this seducing, molesting spirit that at that time, John said, was already in the world, the spirit of Antichrist, which is a spirit that blinds the mind, turns from God, and causes people to walk in anarchy against God. Verse number 25, after Jesus pronounced judgment on the ungodly cities that refused to trust Him, He begins to speak to individuals now, men and women whose hearts had been responsive to the marvelous, matchless grace of God. And this, beloved, is what Jesus is saying to us today. At that time, Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father. Notice the context. You're going to discover that there's thankfulness in the heart of Jesus because of something. Now, notice what is bringing thankfulness to Jesus right now. I thank thee, O Father of heaven and earth. Boy, did He know the Father. Father of heaven and earth, Lord God Almighty, you who spoke and it was done. That's who Jesus was talking to. Because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent and hast revealed them unto babes. Now, beloved, notice the joy in the Savior's heart was because He Himself, Jesus Himself, was hid from all the wise and the prudent. God has hid Himself from the wisdom of this world so that only through the preaching of the cross are those who believe saved. The cross does not line up with the wisdom of men. The cross cannot be figured out by the mind of man. But whoever humbles themselves and becomes as a little child and says, well, if God says I'm a sinner and I can only be saved by the blood, then Lord Jesus, save me. There's the one that becomes a recipient to the marvelous grace of God. And as we've mentioned over and over again, that is not a hard attitude that ceases when you become a Christian, but that must be the hard attitude that is cultivated on a daily basis in order to ensure that God will continue to grow you up in Christ Jesus. God causes the increase. He does it. Now watch. Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent and hast revealed them unto babes. Now, we mentioned Wednesday night that the babes here that Jesus is referring to is not exclusively spiritually immature people. The counsel of God, the whole counsel of God, enables us to understand what Jesus was referring to. Again, I repeat, he's not suggesting that the only ones that God ever reveals himself to are the spiritually immature. If that were true, then whenever we grow up in God, God stops revealing himself to us. And we know that's not true. So what Jesus is referring to here is not necessarily the spiritual growth of an individual, but rather the hard attitude of the person. A babe is one who reflects on a daily basis the posture of brokenness, contriteness, meekness, humility, and pliability before God. And we learned that those attributes, those characteristics, can only be gotten in the presence of God and sustained in the presence of God. Those attributes are that which Christ does to those who actively seek and commune through a relationship with him. These are not attributes that can be cultivated apart from relationship with Christ. When we sever individual relationship with Christ from Christianity, I submit to you that we no longer have Christianity. Christianity was birthed through a process by which God birthed us into the kingdom of God, and now it's a relationship, the vine, the branch. So the babe is the one in whom the Spirit of God, listen carefully, the babe, the posture of humility and brokenness before God, it is the babe that God continues to reveal the matchless glory of his person and his character and his ways too. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father, and no man knoweth the Son but the Father. Neither knoweth, and no man knoweth the Son but the Father, neither knoweth any man the Father save the Son. And he whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Now let's not lose the context now. Jesus just told us in verse 25 who the Father will reveal himself to, right? So here we have a picture. Listen, beloved, this is so precious. The Father is known by no one but the Son. The Son is known by no one but the Father. There's the mystery of the eternal unity between the Father and the Son. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh. The mystery, the intimacy, oh my Lord, to think of it brings you down to your knees. To think of the fellowship that the Father and the Son has had for all eternity. Wow. Isn't that marvelous? The Father and the Son. Who has known the Father save the Son? Who has known the Son save the Father? Perfect knowledge, perfect understanding, perfect trust, perfect knowing, perfect unity. God. And now possibly one of the most profound statements in the world. To think that the Father, in verse 27, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Oh my Lord, did you know that God wants to let us in on the communion and the knowledge that the Father and the Son has had for all eternity? Did you know that that's the inheritance of the believer? Oh beloved, God is not wanting as an inheritance to grant to you things that do not count. Things that are not profitable. He is a mindful God and he will take care of all your needs and you ought to be content with that. Jesus said, labor not for that which perisheth, but that which endures unto everlasting life. Oh beloved, you know the Father's desire this morning, the Son of God, His desire this morning is for you, a child of God, to experience the ultimate privilege in life. The ultimate satisfaction in life. And that is to discover by revelation of God's Spirit the matchless beauty of God, Christ, the Father. His marvelous ways, His unsearchable riches. And not just to have a head knowledge where you're in heaven, but when this happens it affects your walk, it affects your behavior, it affects the way you conduct yourself. It practically changes you and transforms you into the very image and likeness of the one you love so very much. Oh beloved. And then verse number 28. Jesus makes the call. Come, take, and learn. Listen beloved. Come, take, and learn. Come unto me. The focus is Jesus Christ. All ye that labor and are heavy laden. The objects, those to whom He is speaking to are those, listen carefully, who are laboring, who are heavy, who are burdened, and know it. Now isn't it incredible? The whole world is in this state. You can't deny it, right? Everybody is burdensome and heavy and laden and full of sin and iniquity. But not everybody knows it. But now Jesus is talking to the babe, the broken, those who see. He's saying, come. See the work of the Holy Spirit is always twofold. It's never God shows you your wretched sin and then just keeps you there. It's never that. It's never God just reveals to you the wretchedness of your state. Never. It's always twofold. It's, I want to show you what you are, and then I want you to come to me and discover my life, which is the victory over your life. The life of the Son of God is the victory. Now, come unto me, Jesus. We're coming to Jesus. All ye that labor and are heavy laden. Those who see, and I will give you rest. There's the immediate result of coming unto Jesus Christ. Rest from yourself. Once we come, we take, take my yoke upon you. Now, in Psalm 37, we discovered the five things that we learn to take in the Lord's presence. Delight, trust, committing, rest, peace. Psalm 37, one through nine, you can write that down and go through it. That's what you learn to take in the Lord's presence. And then once you come and take, then the process of learn of me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. There it is, beloved. Anytime you start looking for a solution apart from his presence and the fullness of his life flowing through you, you're missing it. I want to turn to one scripture, Colossians. Colossians chapter two, verse 18 and 19. Colossians chapter two, 18 and 19, and we're going to close. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. Now, notice the fundamental error of this detour. The fundamental error of this detour right here. And not holding the head, from which, ah, see that? From which all the body, by joints and bands, having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increase it with the increase of God. Now, beloved, verse 18 suggests humility, it suggests worship, it suggests some kind of a religious activity that leads a person away from the head, that is, takes you from relationship with Christ, daily communion with Him, delighting in Him. Oh, Jesus, You're more important to me than anything. Every morning, Lord, I just, oh, Lord, I just want to know You. Departing from the head and getting off into vainly puffed up fleshly teachings and imaginations and dreams and revelations and visions that glorify people, that glorify ministries, that glorify certain doctrinal preferences, and people begin to drift from Christ, the centrality of loving God. But rather, Paul says, stay in tune, stay in walk with Christ, because it's from Him that you're nourished. We're all nourished. We nourish each other, and we increase and grow in the love of God. And that's the vision that God has for the body. Walking in fellowship with Christ. So may I encourage everyone today to find in Jesus all your strength and all your righteousness and walk humbly before God and stay close to Him. I'll stay close to you. I have an announcement.
