As most of you know, my main burden has been to make sure that God's people are not robbed of their inheritance by the devil. Because I see so much of that, and like I've often said, if your rich father left you millions of dollars in an inheritance, you'd be very careful to study it, to study his will, and make sure you get all of it and not just part of it. But among born-again believers, I don't find that same passion to find out what their inheritance is in Christ. And so most of them live far below what they could live in their personal life, in their home relationships, and generally in their life altogether. And that shows that such Christians are more serious about money than about God. Because if the inheritance was money, boy, they would really study it carefully, because they don't want to lose one dollar of what their dad had worked hard and laid up for them. But when it comes to God and spiritual things, they're not so serious. And despite all the messages we hear, I want you to just think about this, that if you are not making spiritual progress, it's possibly because God is not as serious to us as other things in this world. And then no matter how much we hear, it'll never change. It'll be the same next year. It'll be the same five years from now. Because God is not primary for us. The Bible says God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. And in Jeremiah, we read that if you seek me with all your heart, Jeremiah 29, 13, you will find me. Do you feel that you're seeking God with all your heart? If not, don't be surprised if you don't find Him. And if you find someone else who's making a lot of spiritual progress and getting to know God better and better, there's only one reason. God is not partial. There's absolutely no partiality with God. He treats everyone in His creation equally. Everyone has an equal opportunity, and everyone sitting here, every single one of you has equal opportunity to grow spiritually, to get rid of sins that have plagued you for years, to overcome habits that are unchristlike. It's not God's will that we should be perpetually defeated. Under the old covenant, it was like that, because Christ did not come, the Holy Spirit did not come. But once the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, there's absolutely no excuse for any Christian to live a defeated life. And if he's defeated, it's because he's been cheated of his inheritance by the devil. If you husbands and wives are quarreling at home, and you call yourself believers, I hope you're ashamed of it. I hope you recognize that, at least today, that you have been cheated of your inheritance by the devil, and your conduct at home is something the devil uses to tell God, look at those people who call themselves your children, how they behave, and that brings dishonor to God in the heavenlies. When David, who was the man after God's own heart, whom God had anointed, and being tremendously approved by God, when he fell into that terrible sin with his neighbor's wife, and then killed her husband and married her, God sent a prophet to him, and the prophet said to him, because of what you have done, you have caused the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme. Let me show you that passage, and it's a phrase that we should remember. Remember, in 2nd Samuel, in chapter 12, when David admitted his sin, Nathan said in 2nd Samuel 12, in verse 14, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme. In those days, their only understanding of the enemies of the Lord was earthly enemies, and when Israel proclaimed such a high standard and taught the other nations that Jehovah is the only true God, and we are the only chosen people of God, and the law God has given us makes us special compared to all the other people in the world, and then those enemies said, well look at the way your king behaved. He takes advantage of his neighbor's wife when the husband is away, rapes her and kills her husband and marries him. What type of God is this? The Philistines are telling the Israelites, what type of God is this? You think your God is superior to our God or Baal or whatever we worship? The enemies of the Lord blasphemed. Now today, it's not only earthly enemies, it's not not enemies, but other people of other religions, but people who don't claim to be born again, but up in the heavenlies, you know, in the new covenant, we are told about what happens in the heavens, that the devil is called the accuser of the brethren. So that's in Revelation 12, 10. The accuser of the brethren. We must always remember this, that in the heavenlies, there is an accuser who's watching us all the time to see if there's something in your life that he can accuse to God. He doesn't accuse the people in the world because they already belong to him, but the devil's called the accuser of the brethren. And I must always be aware of this. I must say, Lord, I don't want to bring any dishonor to your name by the way I live. Think if you had a son or a daughter who brought a lot of dishonor to your name by the way he or she conducted himself or herself in a place of work or in some other area. Think of the grief that would be in your heart that your son or your daughter is, you know, first of all ruining himself or herself, but also bringing such dishonor to your name, to your family name. I wonder whether you think like that, whether we all think like that in relation to God. We call ourselves the children of God and then we give occasion to the enemy of the Lord to blaspheme by the way we conduct ourselves. That should challenge us. Say, Lord, I want to say enough is enough. We don't want to continue like that anymore. We want to do things differently. The Bible says that when Jesus comes back, and I believe we are approaching the second coming of Christ, there are going to be two groups of believers. And I want you to see that. 1 John chapter 2 verse 28. Now, generally we think it's going to be the unbelievers and the believers. That's true. That's going to be one type of separation. But among those who are believers, there are going to be two groups when Christ comes again. According to this verse, 1 John 2 verse 28. Little children. The Apostle John is writing to born again believers and calling them little children. Abide in him so that when he appears. Now here are the two groups. One, those who have confidence and boldness. And the other group, those who shrink away from him in shame at his coming. Why should any believer shrink away in shame when Christ comes back? Aren't we all looking forward to his coming? And yet the Bible says, little children, remember, some will shrink away from him in shame at his coming. And there are others who will be bold and say, it's wonderful, Lord. You're coming back. I'm ready to meet you. I picture it like this, you know, that when Christ comes back, we stand before him to give an account of our life on earth. Our whole life on earth is a time God has given us to learn his ways, to partake of his nature. And if we haven't done that, it's like a child of ours we sent to school and he never studied anything, just played the fool the whole time. And the disappointment parents will face with a child like that. The Bible says we will all have to stand before the Lord in the final day. And the way I picture it is this, that when, let me read this verse, 2 Corinthians 5.10. We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one of us may be rewarded. I got to read that slowly. We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one of us will be rewarded for the deeds that we did in our body, according to what we did, whether good or bad. It's talking about believers now. The deeds means the words we spoke, and the actions, and the motives, and attitudes to people, everything. We're going to be judged there and according to what we did in our body. And I picture this in my mind sometimes. It's good to use our imagination for something like this, that the Lord calls people one by one, by one, by one. And then my turn comes. I really use my imagination to think that Jesus has come, he set up his throne, and my name is called, and I go and stand before him. I'm going to be judged for everything I did in my body, whether good or bad. Every sin that I did not confess, did not repent of, did not turn away from, it's going to be brought up. Every careless, lazy attitude I had towards spiritual things, however much an impression I may have made on others in the church, that I'm a pretty good believer, it's not going to have any value over there. Zero. It's the Lord. He doesn't need to ask anybody's recommendation about me. It's just me and him. This is real. It's actually going to happen. It's more real than the sun going to rise tomorrow morning. This is actually going to happen, that one by one we stand before the Lord, and we're going to give an account of our life to him. Every single thing we ever did, every single thing we ever spoke, every way we treated other people, whether good or bad, and there will be no partiality. And I think, Lord, I want it when you look at my record in that day, I want you to say, there's nothing to be judged. You'll have a full reward. Do you want to hear those words? Well done, good and faithful servant. Well done. I want to hear that. I don't want to just hear I'm forgiven, but that I live my life expressing my gratitude to Christ for what he did for me on the cross. Anything less than that, we should be thoroughly ashamed of ourselves. And the Bible tells us how we can be among that group that's bold. Now, if we believe this, and it's going to happen, then you realize that if Christ will suddenly come, you realize how some will say, hey, great. That's what I was looking forward to, Lord. And there are others who have not settled matters who are going to shrink away from him in shame at his coming. And Jesus, you remember, Jesus often said, watch for you do not know the day or the hour when the Son of Man will come. For he will come like a thief in the night. It'll be a surprise for so many people who are not expecting him to come at that time. No thief announces when he's coming. It's going to be sudden, unexpected. But the Bible also says that if you are always live in a spirit of alertness, then the coming of the Lord will not overtake us like a thief. 1 Thessalonians 5 and verse 2, you know that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. Jesus said that and the Holy Spirit through Paul reminds us of that. He will come as a thief in the night. Every burglar comes unannounced. When everybody's thinking is peace and safety, then sudden destruction will come. But listen to this verse 4, but you brethren are not in darkness that that day should overtake you like a thief. I don't believe that the Lord's coming will overtake me like a thief. Because God is my witness, I seek to live in readiness every single day. There's absolutely nothing that I leave unsettled in my life, not just when I go to bed at night, throughout the day, at no time. That's the way a true Christian is supposed to live. The Apostle Paul said, I know nothing against myself. Absolutely nothing. What a way to live. 1 Corinthians in chapter 4, this is Paul's testimony about his own life and that's a challenge to us. 1 Corinthians 4 and verse 4, I am conscious of nothing against myself. Is it possible to live as a Christian on earth like that? Yes, that means I've never hurt anybody whom I've not gone and apologized to. Paul hurt a lot of people in his life, but he settled everything. I believe that the people whom he knew, whom he had persecuted in the days when he was a fanatical Jew, he went to them personally and apologized. It was settled with everyone. You remember once he shouted at the height priest in anger and he immediately settled it. It's not that he never slipped up, but as soon as he slipped up, he immediately asked forgiveness. He said in Acts 24 verse 16, I do my best to always, always means 24-7, maintain a blameless conscience before God and before men. This is the only way a Christian is supposed to live. 24-7, that's always means 24-7. And Paul says, I do my best, just like some businessman says, I do my best to make more money. I do my best to make sure my business prospers. Or some student who is after a PhD or something, he says, I do my best to get the top rank in the class and how politicians strive to be senators and presidents. I do my best. Here's what a Christian says, a true Christian for the one thing that matters more than becoming the president of the United States or getting a PhD or, you know, business prospering. I do my best to keep my conscience always blameless, not a spot on it before God. That refers to the secret areas of our life, which only God knows, thought life, attitudes to people, motives with which I'm doing things. I want to keep my conscience always clear that as soon as I'm aware of a wrong attitude towards someone, I immediately confess it to God. That as soon as I was aware that I did something, the wrong motive, I immediately confess it to God and ask him to forgive me. Or if there was a thought that came to my mind, which was not upright and clean and pure, immediately forsake it and repent and confess it to God. I keep my conscience blameless before and before men. That means if I spoke a rude word to somebody 24 seven, I keep my conscience clear. I'll tell you honestly, I think there are very few husbands and wives who immediately confess their sin to one another as soon as they speak a rude word. I've been serving the Lord 50 years and I met enough number of people to know that. I met so many believers of all types and different denominations and I've discovered this. So many people just take advantage of the fact I'm born again. I'm going to go to heaven. Well, don't be so sure. Don't be so sure. Do you keep your conscience always blameless before God and men? Start with your own wife and husband. Every husband and wife has sometimes or the other said a rude word or a word which is not proper. And when you've done that, how soon after that do you go and apologize and say, I'm sorry, that was wrong. You're aware of it, but you don't apologize and you continue your life. You pray and the Lord says, if you have hurt your brother, leave your offering there. Don't go to God. He won't even listen to you. Do you know that there are millions of prayers that believers pray that God never listens to because there's something they have not settled with somebody else. If I regard sin in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. It's like saying he won't even pick up the phone. You can keep on talking. A lot of believers keep on praying, praying, praying. They don't even realize God hasn't even picked up the phone. He's not listening because there's something unsettled in their heart against someone. Jesus said it so clearly. You know in your heart that your brother's got something against you. Leave your offering there before God. Go and settle that first and then come even a prayer. God won't even listen to a one-sentence prayer of mine if there's something unsettled in my heart between me and another human being. I've sought to live like this for a number of years and my Christian life is extremely happy. I can sleep peacefully at night and I tell you it really makes a difference. We progress spiritually. God begins to reveal himself to us because he sees that we take our Christian life seriously. These simple things like this. And why does he say I keep my conscience blameless before God and men? Paul is standing before when he said this he was standing before a heathen king called Felix. You know answering the accusations of his enemies. And he says they can call me what they like. They can call me a cult. They can call me a sect. They can call me a false teacher. That's what the Jews were saying about Paul. That this group called Christianity is a cult. This Paul is a false teacher. But he says that's okay. I don't care what they say. But let me tell you what I believe. What they call a cult. I'll explain to you what it is. Acts 24 verse 14. I admit to you he tells the king who's a judge there that according to the way Christianity in those days was called the way. It's a wonderful word. I wish we'd call it again by that title. The way. That means these people walk in a particular way. They're different from all other human beings. They had a testimony. Unfortunately Christians don't have that testimony today. But those days they were so different. According to the way which these people call a sect or a cult. He says I'm not ashamed to say I admit it. I serve the God of our fathers. What is this thing which they call a cult? I serve God. I believe everything written in the word of God. That's why they call a cult. And a lot of people today you know a lot of Christians who don't take everything in the New Testament seriously. Someone who does take everything seriously they'll call him a legalist or a cult. I say let them call me a legalist. I don't care. I believe everything written in God's word. And I have a hope. Now this is where it becomes important. Listen to this. I have a hope that there will be two resurrections. I don't know whether all of you know there will be two resurrections. When Christ comes again everybody is not going to be resurrected. There will be some who are resurrected and many who are not. And that's what he says here. I believe there'll be two resurrections certainly. One a resurrection of the righteous and the other a resurrection of the wicked which will be much later. Years later. And because there are going to be these two resurrections. One for the righteous and one for the wicked. In view of this what do I do? I don't just sit back and say well I accepted the Lord 25 years ago. I'm okay. That's not how Paul lived. That's how a lot of believers live today. But you see Paul knew the Lord. He knew God's ways. And he said in view of the fact there are going to be two resurrections and I want to be in the resurrection of the righteous and not in the other resurrection. I do something about it. I do my best. Why do you do your best? Because I want to be in the resurrection of the righteous. What do you do your best about? To keep my conscience always without blame before God and before men. God's not asking you to be perfect. Never to make a mistake. He's asking you to keep your conscience clear all the time. That means as soon as you're aware that you did something wrong to admit it, confess it. Verse 16 to God and to men. That's humbling you know. Why is it that a husband or a wife will not deliberately very often sometimes deliberately unfortunately say something rude or hurting and are aware of it and you know that it was not right. Why is it that such a person will not immediately apologize within 30 seconds? Why not? Why leave it for hours or sometimes days? I will tell you the reason. Pride. There is absolutely no other reason but pride and pride is of the devil. All pride is of the devil. That's what made him into a devil. He was the head of the angels and he became a devil because of one sin. Pride. That's how sin came into this universe. Sin didn't come to the universe through adultery or murder or telling lies. All those things are came later but pride when a when the most beautiful angel became proud he became a devil in a moment and you can be the saintliest person on earth and you become proud you become like the devil in a moment. No difference. That's why when Jesus came to deliver us he had to do the opposite of that. He humbled himself. So there are two spirits operating in the world. The spirit of pride and the spirit of humility. Spirit of pride is from the devil. The spirit of humility is from Christ and I want to say to you whether you know it or not we are getting caught up with one of these spirits all the time. All the time you are being influenced by one or other of these spirits and I know for myself which spirit I want to be influenced by 24 7. The spirit of Christ. I do my best always to maintain a conscience before God and before men. Always and I I know that if I say what I'm saying right now if it's not true God will judge me. I have no doubt about it. The bible says don't be many teachers because we will receive a stricter judgment. If Paul said that and it was not true boy God would judge him severely and if I say that and it's not true God will judge me. But I can honestly say before God 24 7 I seek to keep my conscience perfect before God and before men. I refuse to allow the devil to put any of his pride in me that will prevent me from humbling myself and saying I was wrong. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. How can I set it right? Ready to ask that from anyone anywhere in the world anytime. The only person who never has to apologize is God Almighty and the bible says in the last days there'll be people who act like God who sit like God. Who are these people who sit like God? You know it says about it's a verse in the bible by the way 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 if you haven't seen it. It says that he's talking about the second coming of Christ 2nd Thessalonians 2 verse 1 regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ on our gathering together to him. It says in verse 3 let no one deceive you because before that happens there's going to be a great falling away. Falling away means people who believed once but didn't take their christian life seriously gradually fell away. Falling away by the way is not a sudden thing. No I don't believe that David fell into adultery with Bathsheba suddenly. He must have been indulging in lustful thoughts for many years. It's a slow process. Adultery comes through years of lustful thinking and slowly watching pornography and nobody catches you and you keep going down like that. It's a slow process. It's not a steep fall. A steep fall we'll be careful about but the slow gradual slope that leads all the way to hell that's that's the way the one the devil prefers people to walk on. If there's a steep slope he knows they'll run away. So he makes the slope to hell very gradual. Just a little bit here and a little slip up there and a little slip up. Ignore it. Ignore it. Ignore it. No it's not serious the devil says and we go on and on so that's apostasy gradually falling away and then it speaks about the man of sin who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and he sits in the temple displaying himself as being god. How do people display themselves as being god? I never need to apologize to anyone because I don't make mistakes. That's how you display yourself as god. One way. There are other ways when people people you know in a authoritative dictatorial way rule over others whether an elder or a husband or anybody. He displays himself as god. I'm the absolute authority. Nobody can question me. These are the people and there's lots of them are claiming to be christians. They display themselves as god as a spirit of satan who was created and as a created being he wanted to be like god. It's there in all human beings the temptation to be like god. You know in the in the book of revelation there's a number called 666. A lot of people dispute about what does this number mean. Well I've got one understanding of it spiritually and the spiritual meaning of it is more important to me than what the number actually signifies. It's in revelation chapter 13 that it says there will be the antichrist is going to have put a mark on people. Remember the book of revelation is all symbols. Don't take it all literally. Right at the beginning in the third verse of revelation it says the lord symbolized it to the apostle john. The whole book is full of symbols. Jesus is displayed having a sword coming out of his mouth and bronze legs. That's not how he is. It's a symbol of the word of god and a symbol the white hair. Jesus has a symbol of wisdom. He doesn't have white hair. His hair is black but the whole book is full of symbols. So when it speaks about a number it's a symbol. When it speaks everything it says in revelation is a symbol. A mark. What mark? Not a physical mark. It's a symbol of something. And it says in revelation 13 18 the number of the beast is 666. Six is the number of man because man was created on the sixth day. Three is the number of the trinity. God is father son and holy spirit. So when man six wants to be like god it's 666. So it's a symbol of man trying to be like god and there's going to be a lot of that in the last days. That is the mark of the beast symbolically. When a man begins to act like god. When a man begins to exercise authority that he has no right to exercise. When a man refuses to apologize. When a man acts as if he's never sinned he's acting like god. So I'm not surprised when I see that 666 mark all over the place. People who have that mark. Man trying to act like god. I see plenty of people like that but in contrast to that the next verse says these are the people who had the mark of the beast on their forehead or on their hand. But here it says about another group you know the previous verse you see that in chapter 13 16 he causes all the small great rich poor free men to be given a mark either on their right hand or on their forehead. The meaning is that if you have it in your right hand you can hide it because in your forehead everybody sees it. You can openly serve the devil or you can secretly serve the devil. Openly means it's on your forehead. On your right hand means you serve the devil in secret. You watch pornography in secret and come and sit in the church acting like a holy person. Nobody knows what you're doing in secret. You can cheat and tell lies in secret. It's all hidden and you come to church and act because you want to be you're an agent of satan but you want to act as though you belong to god. Many like that. The others in the world they don't even claim to follow jesus. They got it right on their forehead. I serve the devil. I disobey all your so-called commandments. I don't believe the bible is god's word. They got it right on their foreheads. But when it comes to the followers of jesus notice the contrast in revelation 14 verse 1. I looked and the lamb was standing on this mount zion and with him 144 000. This is a very small number of people having his name not the mark of the beast and the name of his father on their foreheads. They were not allowed to have it on their hands. There was no question of being a secret disciple of jesus. No. You can be a secret disciple of satan or an open disciple of satan. But when it comes to jesus there's no option. His name is only on their forehead. That means i want to be openly known as a follower of the lamb and there are other things written here about them. That they followed the lamb wherever in verse middle of verse four they follow the lamb wherever he goes. That means they've determined. These are people who determined to seek to follow in jesus footsteps in everything in their life. They want to think like jesus. They want to talk like jesus. They want to behave like jesus. They've seen that god sent his son to earth not only to die for our sins but also to live and show us how god wants every human being to live. We have all heard for years that christ died for our sins. That's the common message even every roman catholic protestant every denomination of christian denomination the face of the earth people believe that christ came to earth to die for our sins. How many of us have heard and understood and been gripped by the fact that christ came to earth to show us how we should live every day. That message is not proclaimed sufficiently. Christ came to earth to show me how i should live every day. Christ came to earth to show me how i should speak to people, how i must love, how i must humble myself, how i must take the low place, how i must be willing to wash people's feet and how i must never be offended with what people say about me. How i must never retaliate if people spit on my face or crucify me. I must forgive them. That message is not sufficiently proclaimed. That is how the devil has cheated god's people of their inheritance. The death for their sins the christ dying for our sins yeah that's part of the truth but that's not all and it's only these people who it says they learned a song it says here in verse three they sang a new song which no one could learn verse three except these who had been purchased from the earth. Now have you ever thought of that verse you know when i come to a verse which i don't understand i stop it's like a red stop light i don't i don't drive i have my foot is on the brakes and i'm not going to move till the light turns green the light turns green when i've understood that verse then i can move on but a verses and they go crashing through the red light stop lights and they forget about it you are and they've gone through it through so many verses in the bible they don't even know what it means because they never stop they don't respect god enough to say lord what are you trying to say to me through that i was like that in the early days as a christian and i could say i read the bible but i read my bible half an hour every day but most of it i didn't understand and i just left it like that it says here they there was a song that only those could learn who had been redeemed from the earth so i understood that to mean that if the lord has succeeded in detaching me from earthly things i can learn that song but if i'm attached to earthly things redeemed from the earth means lifted up from the earth purchased out of the earth i become a heavenly person a true disciple of jesus is a heavenly person living on earth his interests are not on this earth so if i were to paraphrase that it means like this the only people who can learn this new song are those whose interests have been freed from earthly interests like everybody else around them who are no longer serving for earthly honor or for the sinful pleasures that earth offers or for all the wealth and money that earth offers they've been redeemed from the earth and they learn a song which nobody else can learn it's not a musical ability it's got nothing to do with musical ability it's a hard attitude do you want to be in this number it comes through following the lamb wherever he goes verse four and these are the first fruits to god from among men they are blameless there was no lie verse five found in their mouth which basically means the hypocrites to be a hypocrite is to be a liar that means i'm giving you the impression that i'm more spiritual than i really am that's a lie that's the meaning of verse five there's no lie in their mouth i'm not talking about something that's not true my inner life or private life it's a wonderful passage i want i want the name of the lord to be written on my forehead i want to be openly known as a disciple of jesus one who's seeking to walk in the footsteps of jesus and you slip up like paul said i immediately make sure my conscience is clear by do you know how easy it is to clear your conscience very very easy in the old testament it was more difficult do you know that in the old testament you read that when a person sinned he had to bring a goat how much does a goat cost imagine if you had to bring a goat every time you sin we'd all be bankrupt by now we don't have to bring a goat today because something more valuable than a goat has been sacrificed on calvary which we take so lightly is the blood of jesus worth more than millions of goats or not but because it is free and cheap for us you take it lightly think if you had to pay a hundred dollars every time you sinned or even fifty dollars where would we be today it cost the israelites when they sinned it cost them money they had to bring these animals and sacrifice them we've never had to spend one one dollar to confess our sin does it mean we have taken the blood of jesus christ lightly i can imagine those israelites thinking hey i better not do this because i'll have to buy a goat tomorrow but what about us you see oh it's all right the blood we just confess the blood of jesus cleanses us is that casual attitude towards sin that makes us take sin lightly i believe those israelites took sin far more seriously than we did because it cost them money but for us you just say oh the blood of jesus cleanses us the bible speaks about people who treat the blood of christ as something cheap as a common thing in hebrew that's in hebrews chapter 10 by the way hebrews 10 it speaks about somebody who keeps on sinning hebrews 10 and verse 26 now remember when you read a letter must read to whom it was written it was not written to unbelievers earlier in hebrews it says holy brethren you know the letter it's a letter and in one hebrews 3 1 it says holy brethren partakers of a heavenly calling if we go on sinning willfully knowingly i mean there are sins which we may do accidentally not knowing that it was wrong but if we go on sinning willfully knowingly i mean there are sins which we may do accidentally not knowing that it was wrong but if we go on sinning knowingly willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth then there is no longer a sacrifice for sin but a terrifying expectation of judgment because in the old testament verse 26 sorry 28 if anyone set aside the law of moses he was judged without mercy but how much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who trampled underfoot the son of god that means saying lord i don't care that you died for me i'm going to indulge in this sin you know once we understand the death of christ on calvary there's absolutely nothing that can make us hate sin more than that to see that at least for me it was like that that this this lord this wrong attitude is what put you on the cross this careless casual way of my speaking is what put you on the cross so i don't want to be speaking like that anymore i want to be very careful with my speech because there's sin in my speech and that sin is what christ hung on the cross for i don't want to talk glibly and lightly about christ dying on the cross like other christians do i don't want to trample underfoot the son of god as and regarding who regards the blood of the covenant as a common thing that's the meaning they're common around the blood of the covenant with jesus shed i treat it like something cheap that's the verse i was quoting and he's insulted the spirit that blood which is it says here i regard as cheap and unclean and common the blood of jesus by which i am made holy that blood which cleanses the sin i confess if he confesses our sin he's faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness that blood of christ which cleanses my heart makes me pure and acceptable before god i treat it as a common unclean cheap thing how do i treat it like that you know yeah what's there i can confess the blood of jesus cleanses me i keep on doing it again and again and again and i don't take seriously my sin it's like you know we're not disturbed if our hands get dirty because water is cheap soap is cheap we'd be a lot more careful with dirtying our hands if water was very expensive that's the meaning there we treat the blood of christ like tap water oh got dirty cleanse it i believe that is the apostasy or the falling away that we read off in second thessalonians before the coming of the lord there's going to be a falling away among christians and it's among people who think that i'm okay so what is the solution let me give you a verse in philippians chapter 2 philippians in chapter 2 it's a verse that's blessed me and i've often quoted it i've said that if you have this one verse you can live with that one verse without a bible this one verse is enough for a christian once you you know that christ died for your sins and rose again he's coming back here it says in philippians 2 5 have this mind in you which was in christ jesus have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus one verse you can live with that verse for all of your life have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus lord what should my attitude be towards sin have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus lord how should i look at pretty women exactly like jesus looked at them is that your goal have the mind in you which is in christ the world is full of people who lust but if i'm a christian i want to look at people like jesus looked at lord what should be my attitude towards money have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus i've only got one verse to live by have the same attitude that jesus had what about those who are speaking evil about me calling me billsy bull and prince of devils have this attitude in you which christ had he forgave them he said have you spoken a word against the son of man is forgiven you know you can live with that verse for every single situation you face every single day of your life one verse have this attitude in you which was in christ jesus and they could not do that in the old testament because they never knew there was no living example like we have in the life of jesus christ and even if we had that example still we would not be able to do it if god had not given us the holy spirit that's why the most important requirement for any believer is to be filled with the holy spirit every single day otherwise it's impossible it's like trying to drive your car without gas in your tank not possible and so have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus lord what shall be my attitude towards all these television preachers who keep on asking people for money and take money from poor people in order to live in grand style themselves have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus what was his his attitude to all those fellows who are making money in the temple he chased them out he was angry with them and i'm angry with them i'm angry with all these television preachers who make money from poor people in the name of god hypocrites and humbugs if jesus were here he'd drive them out and i'd never let any one of them come into my church no you see with that one verse have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus what should be my attitude to a woman caught in adultery terrible sin same attitude that jesus had have you repented okay you're not condemned don't sin again like that what should be my attitude to a woman who was divorced five times and now living with another man whom he's not even married to the samaritan woman by the way john 4 seek to save her like jesus saved that samaritan woman see with that one verse this is what it means to follow the lamb wherever he goes have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus this is what it means to have the name of the lamb written on my forehead lord i want to take your the attitude you have is he always humbled himself he humbled himself he humbled himself so let me close with verse six seven and eight you have heard me speak on this before what is this attitude the root of this attitude was his humility though he was god step number one he came down and became a man and verse seven step number two as a man he became a slave which is the lowest among all men and then verse three even lower than a slave verse eight he became like a criminal hanging on a cross so it was humility god becoming a man i mean if he had become a king that would have been humility too but he went further and became a slave and then even lower than that the roman soldiers didn't the romans didn't crucify slaves they crucified criminals so he was willing to take the place of a criminal on the cross he came down underneath everybody because he did not want to have anything of the spirit of satan in him that seeks to exalt itself over others have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus therefore verse nine god exalted him jesus was not exalted because he was a son of god he was exalted because he humbled himself and everyone who goes that way he humbled himself will be exalted primarily exalted over sin and the bible says that if i humble myself i'll be exalted it doesn't mean i'll be a ruler or a ceo or a president or something it means i'll be exalted over the one thing i want to be exalted over and that is sin i want to rule over sin i don't want to rule over people i have no interest in ruling over people but i have a passionate interest to rule over every filthy lust of the that the nature of adam has given to me through my ancestry which the bible calls the flesh i want to rule over it all i want to be a ruler and a conqueror in that area in proverbs it says the one who can rule his spirit is greater than the one who can rule a city have this attitude in you which is in christ jesus and i want to say this dear brothers and sisters that this is the main reason why god gave us the holy spirit so i hope there'll be a great hunger and thirst in your heart for the holy spirit's power in your life that's the only way you can make it otherwise you can hear 10 000 messages and get stirred it'll only be temporary for a few moments you'll be stirred and then it'll all be gone and that's why it has maybe many of you have been stirred in the past not much has happened but now we need to seek for the power of god's holy spirit let's bow our heads before the lord in prayer there's far more that god has for us than we have experienced so far and that we can even then we have even asked for thought let's come with faith that god wants to give us more than we have had so far heavenly father we pray that we shall possess all that you purchased for us on calvary's cross we know you want us to live a victorious triumphant life on earth give us grace lord to humble ourselves so that we can receive more grace from you and walk this way so that we shall be a testimony for you in these last days and give no room in our life for satan to accuse us before you for anything to be quick to keep our conscience clear before god and men we pray in jesus name
