Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Sermon Transcription
See, the gospel is complicated on that one. You can know what God's saying, smart folks. I'm gonna tell you one thing. You're responsible for you. You better know what he's saying. And I'm responsible for me. Let's go ahead. Verse 14, it says, for this reason it says, what? Verse 14. Somebody hit me a little. Wake up. That's exactly what he's talking about. Did I tell you the sleeping bird? Now look at me here. We're gonna wake up. This is reason I told you that's in the day. This is time the sleeping bird. Did I tell you? There are the foolish and the wise. Now the Lord's opening up this word to us. It's impossible to see it. As long as God has something in front of his eyes, he's opening it up. Don't try to figure out why they didn't see it before. They couldn't see it before because God didn't want it seen. Because smart folks are picking up the Bible and trying to look at it through the intellectual eyes of Satan and get mileage out of it. And people sitting there listening to them, they don't want to honor God and come to him with a whole heart. Their hearts go after men. So God just let the whole bunch die. Because they want to follow men instead of follow the Lord. They let men have their hearts. Jeremiah 17 said, you're cursed if you put your competence in the strength of the flesh. A curse is on you. Destruction and death is working in you. Hey folks, this has been hidden from us the wrath of God. You know what's going to happen when you learn all this? When you wake up in the morning, you jump out of that bed and you say, reporting for duty, Lord Jesus. Jesus didn't come here to condemn you folks. He's the only help you have. Can I tell you again? He's the only way. Brother, if he, and he's the only one that can lead you the way. You can't figure it out and you can't go through something for him and you can't have him out. He might as well give it up. You're going to either get in on it or you're going to get killed. One of the two. All right now, verse 14. For this reason it says, awake sleeper and arise from the dead. Death is working all over you. And then Christ will shine on you. Verse 17, if you wake up. Folks, is this kind of waking you up? Hey, let me ask you something. You've been, and you've been so sweet and I, coming back to the word. See, I'm, some places I go, I mean, boy, they so fit. Of course, don't you get puffed up. But see what's happening, the word's shaking, isn't it? It's shaking me too. See, we used to, man that come to town have all answers. No man has all answers anymore. Jesus has all answers. He's the one who has it all, amen? So we're not going to look to man anymore, amen?
