Judgment Day
Steve Hill

Steve Hill (1954–2014). Born on January 17, 1954, in Ankara, Turkey, to a U.S. military family, Steve Hill grew up in Alabama and spiraled into drug addiction and crime by age nine, facing arrests and near-death from overdoses. Converted on October 28, 1975, at 21 after a Lutheran minister’s prayer, he entered Teen Challenge, mentored by David Wilkerson, and graduated from Wilkerson’s Twin Oaks Academy in Texas, studying under Leonard Ravenhill and Nicky Cruz. Ordained in the Assemblies of God, Hill and his wife, Jeri, whom he met at Twin Oaks, became missionaries in the 1980s, planting churches in Argentina, Spain, and Belarus, where they founded a Teen Challenge center. In 1995, after receiving prayer at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, he sparked the Brownsville Revival at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida, on Father’s Day, preaching repentance and drawing over 4 million attendees through 2000, with 150,000 reported conversions. Relocating to Dallas in 2000, he resumed crusades and founded Heartland World Ministries Church in Irving, Texas, in 2003. Hill authored books like Spiritual Avalanche (2013) and Wanted: Extreme Christians (2000). Diagnosed with melanoma in 2007, he died on March 9, 2014, in Orange Beach, Alabama, survived by Jeri and three children, Ryan, Shelby, and Kelsey. He said, “If you’re not winning souls, you’re wasting your time.”

Sermon Transcription
I'd like to share a message with you in today's service that is going to be pivotal for many people that are watching, many of you that are in this room. It's about an event that's going to take place in every one of our lives. No one's going to be exempt. Millions upon millions of people have already experienced this, and you will too. And so I would encourage you and encourage others around you that are not paying much attention to get close and give God your ear. I'm just a messenger man, okay? That's all I am. And I'm going to preach today the Word of God. And it really doesn't make a difference to me whether or not you like it or not. There's a lot of words in the Word of God that people don't enjoy reading. But I am a pastor. I'm an evangelist. I work in the apostolic ministry, church planting. And I have always been known for serving a full-course meal. And so this may be to you like veggies. I don't know. But I want to preach to you today on Judgment Day. The Bible says in Hebrews 9.27, And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment. The Bible also says in 2 Corinthians 5.2, and I'm going to focus this message on the two major judgments that are facing every man, woman, and child that are watching. And every man, woman, and child in this room. All through the Word of God you'll see judgments carried out. But this is eschatology. This is a study of the future. What I'm going to share with the next few minutes is something that's going to happen. 2 Corinthians 5.10 says this, For we must all appear, everyone say all. We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. That everyone may receive the things done in his body according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Now that is for the believer, the judgment seat of Christ. Now for the unbeliever, you haven't made the decision yet. You need to make it now. For the unbeliever, Revelation 20.11-14, For I saw a great white throne. And him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God. And the books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of these things which were written in the book according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it. And death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them. And they were judged, every man, according to their works. Now let me remind everyone that death is not a period, but a comma in the story of life. I'll say that again. Death is not a period, but rather a comma in the story of life. In fact, as I perform funerals, I've often referred to the shell that is in the casket. Own family members, we've suffered just like many of you. And I'll refer to the shell that's in front of me, in that casket. And I'll say, this is not Aunt Susie. This is not Brother John. This is his earthly tabernacle. And if Brother John could come back and stand before us, he would say this. Listen to the preacher. Because the decisions that I made during my earthly life have affected my eternal life. Now I'm going to show you a clip of something that may be disturbing, but I believe most of you can handle it. This is on the internet. You can find it. And it's a lullaby that we've rewritten and put some animation to it, some screenshots of individuals. And I've entitled it, Hush Little Sinner. Now, before you ever judge me on this, I want you to hear me. We're going to roll this in just a few seconds, but sinner is found 21 times in Scripture. Sinners is found 48 times in Scripture. Transgressors and unbelievers are found 30 times. Wicked is found 344 times. Sin is found 448 times. And sinned is found 119 times. Add those all up, and you've got hundreds and hundreds of verses that have to do with man missing God's mark. That's what sin is. Or man not doing what Jesus wanted him to do. The Bible says in Romans 3.23, For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The Bible says in Romans 5.8, While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Because that word has been banned from their vocabulary. Or banned from their church. Don't tell me I've sinned. Tell me I've made a mistake. No, sir. It doesn't work like that. Okay, don't whitewash the Bible. And don't dumb it down. Because whatever you do, no matter how you gloss over it, you will stand before God on judgment day. The Bible says in 1 Timothy, Paul said, verse 16 of chapter 1, That I was the worst of sinners. I love that because we need to admit that we don't live according to God's laws and God's rule book. And so I'm not being judgmental as I preach this because Steve Hill will stand before God on judgment day. I will stand before God. For everything I did, good and evil, everything I did right and wrong that wasn't washed in the blood, I will stand before God. So what I'm about to roll in here is a lullaby that we've rewritten called Hush Little Sinner. It may be a little disturbing to you, but I want to tell you, this will come to pass. Hush little sinner, don't you cry. Satan's gonna bless you before you die. Hush little sinner, don't you cry. Satan's gonna tell you the reason why. I'll give you fortune, wealth, and fame. From this point on, you won't be the same. My friend's voiced in me, you won't have to see. Not a popular subject, but I find it interesting that Noah Webster, whom we often refer to and look to for guidance in the English language, his first dictionary published in 1828 is so full of scripture it looks like the Bible. And when you look up judgment day and judgment, according to Noah Webster, it's this. The final trial of the human race. And I'm not speaking of this, I'm talking about Noah Webster. Webster's dictionary. The final trial of the human race when God will decide the fate of every individual and award sentence according to justice. And then he refers to scripture after scripture after scripture. This is in the 1828 version of Noah Webster's English language. It's the end, Ecclesiastes 12, 13 and 14, the end of all the matter. All has been heard. The Bible says, Solomon said, fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil. So God will judge. Now, this is not me coming up with some theology. OK, I'm just preaching the word of God. And I took some time on the Internet to see who really believes in the judgment. And church, you would be fascinated at the teaching that's out there now. And most of it is so full of grace, you can do anything that you want to do and still get to heaven. At that hush little center that you just watched, at the end of it, it says, don't be afraid of the judgment seat. OK, well, the judgment seat is for Christians. But hey, welcome to America where you can drink, you can party, you can do drugs, you can lay around, still go to church on Sunday. Got your name on the roll down here, but your name's not on the roll up there. But America is so lethargic, so stuck. And I apologize for those of you that are watching around the world. Don't look to us for a standard of high Christian living. Go to the countries where they're being martyred for the things of Christ. Go to an underground church in China. Go somewhere where you'll see people that really live it out. Now, Pastor, why are you just slamming America? I love this country. But it's embarrassing. I got an email one time from a man in a faraway land. He said, please come and help us. But keep America's teaching on your own soil. He said it's ruining our nation. All they wanted was the blood in the cross. So let me just get into this for the next few minutes. There's four kinds of people who are listening to this. There are those who are close to the truth. There are those who are distant from the truth. There are people that are close to Jesus. You're close, but you're not in yet. You're looking at the cross, but you're not on the cross. And there are others who are distant from the truth. You've never known the Lord. You could be Muslim or maybe you're Hindu or some other religion. You're sitting here in this church and you're going, you know, I've never heard anything like this. This is new to me. I want you to know there's only one way to be saved, and that's through the shed blood of Jesus. There's only one way to heaven. And He's the only one. He's my advocate. He's my lawyer. He's the man that stands with me. You don't want anybody else with you on Judgment Day, my friend. Jesus. People who haven't known the truth is another person that's listening to this. You have known the truth, but you've backslid. There are those in this room and those listening around the world, and there's those that have known the truth and have been set free and live in victory. Okay, that's another category of people. Let me just give you a few points about judgment. Without exception, everyone within the sound of my voice will one day face the judgment of God. One day, my friend, your name will be called. There's people watching right now. You say, I've had enough. I don't want to hear that no more. There happens to be a gavel right here. It just happens to be right here. It's amazing. I think I'll lay that right there. But there's people watching this today, people in this church who go, No, I can't stand this. I'm going to go to the bathroom. Let me tell you, you can go into the bathroom. God's still there. You can't run from God. Okay, and ushers down the road, we're going to have to put speakers in the bathroom, all right? Forget that, hiding from God. But let me tell you, I'm just going to weave in this Scripture. I love this Scripture. This is Psalm 50, verse 21. This is why people say, I don't like this stuff. The Bible says in Psalm 50, verse 21, These things you have done, and I kept silent. You thought I was just like you. I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes. Look this way, folks. That's Psalm 50, verse 21. You can look it up for yourself. It says, You think I'm just like you. That's why people do not believe in the judgment. We're the nation that lets child pornographers and child molesters, we set them free. Give them a little slap on the hand and say, go your way. While other nations, hang them. We're the nation that you get busted for stealing. You get probation. Other nations, you get your hand chopped off. I've watched, I've seen people with nubs. And it wasn't from a war wound. They stole a lady's purse. Those nations, ladies, you can leave your purse on the sidewalk. Go in and shop. Come back out. Your purse is still sitting there. Why? People believe in judgment. Okay? But that scripture says, You think I'm just like you. God is not like us. His ways are not like our ways. His thoughts are not like our thoughts. When people come to me and they say, I just can't believe that God would judge people. That's your problem. You're trying to filter everything through that gray matter upstairs. It don't work like that. Are you mad, preacher? No, I'm not mad. I'm trying to warn you. And you're going to say, thank God on that final day. One day your ticket will be pulled. A warrant will be issued for your arrest. Your time will come. The test will be over. You'll put your pencil down. As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, you will face the judgment of God. As certain as death comes to every man, you will face the judgment of God. When I say you, I'm talking about Steve Hill also. As sure as one and one is two, you'll face the judgment. As sure as water is wet and fire is hot, you will face the judgment of God. As sure as summer follows spring and autumn follows summer and winter follows autumn, you will face the judgment of God. I'm saying to you today, everyone will be judged. Remember the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16? The rich man lived his life as if it would go on forever. Lazarus begged at his feet. Both would stand before God at their death. One begged here. The other one begged hereafter. There's that foolish rich man found in Luke 12. Just listen up, folks. This is Scripture. There was a certain rich man, Luke 12, 16, who brought forth plenty. And he thought within himself, what shall I do? I read this this morning and I was shocked about what will I do? That's what this is. I underlined it all. He thought within himself. Oh, big mistake. He thought within himself. What shall I do? Because I have no room. Where to bestow all my fruits? And he said, this will I do. I will pull down my barns and build greater. And there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, soul, you have a lot of goods laid up for many years. Take your ease. Eat, drink, and be merry. But God said, you fool. Today your soul is required of thee. And then we know the Old Testament. That was Luke 12, 16 through 20. Daniel 5, 24 through 28. These are just simple judgments in the Word. A little heavy. Daniel 5, 24. You know this about Belshazzar in the Old Testament. Who was found desecrating the only things of God. That's why I say to all you young ministers. Everyone in this room. Never use the anointing. The word anointing. You get a hamburger at McDonald's. And you go, oh, I feel the anointing. Man, I want to step away from people like that. Don't ever play with the things of God. Don't ever play with the Holy Ghost. You're desecrating the things of God. You scare me, young buck. You scare me, ma'am. When you play around with the Word of God like that. Listen to what happened to this individual. Belshazzar. Using the holy things of God in his party. Then he saw a handwriting on the wall. And this is what was written. Many, many. This is the interpretation of the king. Daniel said, many. God has numbered your kingdom. And finished it. They are weighed in the balances and are found wanting. But as thy kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and the Persians. Writing on the wall during a party. God said, it's over. America in the middle of your party. God may show up. And say, it's finished. Party's over. Or like Herod in Acts chapter 12, 28, 21. I'm telling you, everyone will face judgment. He's arrayed in royal apparel. He sat upon his throne and made an oration unto the people. And yet the people gave a shout and said, it is the voice of a God. What will you do? What will you do when you have their adoration? What will you do when you have their acclamation? What will you do when you have their attention? People are looking at you. I deal with this all the time, folks. Because we lay hands on folks. And they're hit by the power. This last week. People bringing folks to me. Just throwing them in front of me. Touching. Grabbing them and pulling them out of the crowd. And say, lay hands on her. Lay hands. People hit by the power of God. And people going, he's the man. He's the man. He's the one. He's the one. Let me tell you. As the praises of God, as the praises of man go up, you better go down. Get on your knees, man. Don't receive any of that stuff. Take it from Herod. The people gave a shout. He loved it. And the Bible says the angel of the Lord smote him. Because he gave not God the glory. And he was eaten of worms. You want to be like Paul. You want to be ready for the judgment of God. John 2 Timothy 4, 6 through 8. I am now ready to be offered. And the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Now there's laid up for me a crown of righteousness. Ready for the judgment. Jim Elliott, the great missionary statement. He was ready. He said, when it comes time to die, make sure that's all you have to do. John Wesley was ready. Charles Finney was ready. Keith Green. Leonard Ravenhill. Kenneth Hagen. Senior was ready. Bill Bright was ready. These are all people that have gone on to be with the Lord. Evelyn Roberts. Rex Humbard. Jerry Falwell. Ruth Graham. The list goes on and on. Dr. James Kennedy. These are people that have died over the years. And you can add a bunch more to the list. Ready. Ready. I was with Bill Wright right before he died. And laying on his bed. We went in there to pray with him at his apartment down in Orlando. And laying on his bed were all these projects. All the bed was covered with all these unfinished projects. And here he was on a ventilator sucking in oxygen. And he was saying things like, we've got so much to do. And I said to brother Bill, I said, we'll take care of it, man. We'll take care of it. He was so ready to die. He just wanted to work more for the Lord. Oh, I wish that was everyone's story. And the day of judgment will be a day of perfect justice. The day of judgment will be a day of perfect justice. Everyone say justice. This is based on fact. That's what justice is. What is morally and legally right. The administration of what is right. Leonard Ravenhill said to me one day, he said, at the judgment seat of Christ, Steve, all our fig leaves will drop off. Everything that we're covering up with will drop. Because it's perfect justice. The wicked will be separated from the righteous like wheat from the chaff. Goats to the left, sheeps to the right. Matthew chapter 25. The Bible says in Luke 12, 3, Whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light. And that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. For nothing is secret, Luke 8, 17. That shall not be made manifest. Neither anything hid that should not be known and come abroad. Yes, my friend, justice will reign. All the evidence will be in. God is keeping a record. See, man looks at the outward appearance, 1 Samuel 16, 7. But God sees the heart. There's no secrets. I want to tell you, there's a child molester watching this right now. And I want to tell you something. You have not gotten away with anything. Because one day, one day you will be called in. And everything you did, all the sodomy. All the acts that you did. Those people that have been destroyed but they're still living. But they have so many scars and pain and suffering. Because of what you did to them. You didn't get away with a thing. Just because the law hasn't caught you doesn't mean God hasn't caught you. Take your time, Pastor Steve. This is important. Both sides of the story will be known. Every hideous sin will be revealed. Every murderous thought will be known. Maybe you're in this room today. And you've committed adultery 30 years ago. No one caught you. You're caught. You're caught. You didn't get away with nothing. There's always three witnesses. The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. They're always watching. Maybe somebody sent you this DVD. Maybe they bought it for you at a crusade or something. And gave it to you. And you're just sitting there trembling. What am I supposed to do, man? You're supposed to get right with Jesus. That's what you're supposed to do. In this room, what am I supposed to do? In just a few minutes you come to the Lord. And you say, forgive me, wash me, thank God for grace. Everyone say, thank God for grace. Man, I've been in front of worldly judges before. It ain't no fun standing before a judge and you know you're guilty. And I had one judge look at me. And he said this. Steve Hill. And I was facing four felonies. He goes, this is against my better judgment. But I'm going to probate you. And I said, your honor. He goes, shut up. I've been busted 13 times. He goes, next case. And he probates me to a program called Teen Challenge. Outreach Ministries of Alabama, then Teen Challenge. And it was a miracle because I should have been thrown in prison for 25 years. Why? Because they knew the story. I was guilty. You ever heard the phrase guilty of sin? Every murderous thought will be known. Every perverted sexual act will be screamed out in the courtroom of God. All those 1 o'clock in the morning internet visits. Wife is asleep. Kids are asleep. Just you in the study or maybe you at the back porch playing around with some girl. All the phone sex, you name it. Busted. The little alcohol you got in your study. A little nip you take every now and then you think nobody can smell your breath. Guess what? God smells your breath. I'm going to hide that bottle from him. All lying, stealing, cheating, fornication, adultery, hate, idolatrous act, covenants act, wagging tongue. Every act of slander. We talk about that just for a minute. Boy, you better watch what comes out of your mouth. Hey, sister. I want to talk to you about something. You hear about Julie? I want to share something with you so we can pray. Y'all ever heard that? I want to talk to you about Julie so we can pray for her. How about just let's pray for Julie. Quit wagging your tongue. Quit spreading that garbage. That's not in my notes. That was for somebody here. Mm-mm-mm. For every unbeliever within the sound of my voice, there's coming a day of perfect justice. For every believer, there's coming a day of perfect justice. Those of you that don't know the Lord, you're going to be faced with the same question Pilate was faced with. In Matthew 17, 22, it says, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called the Christ? You'll be judged for this message right here. Because I've already shared the only way to heaven is through the shed blood of Jesus. The cross, the blood, that's the way in. So what are you going to do with Jesus who is called the Christ? Some of you, you adorn your body with the cross. But you don't adore the Christ of the cross. I don't know how many times I've watched Hollywood stars sitting there on camera with this big old cross. Talking about their latest R-rated movie. I'm going, what is that? Put something else on, woman. You have nothing to do with the cross. Just get on it. You ask Him to save you but reject Him as Lord. You shun Him over and over again. You'll be judged for what you did with your tongue. I'm just giving you some scriptures here. Don't yell at me. Don't look at me. I don't believe the Bible. You've got a big problem. Let me tell you something about the Bible. Let me tell you something about this book right here. This is God. Yeah, but I know all the people that wrote it. He uses, man, that's amazing to me. But they penned it out as the Holy Ghost spoke to them. They wrote about things that were going to take place in the future. They wrote about Judgment Day. And John was writing. And I saw everyone. And there was this great white throne. And they were writing stuff going, ah, ah. You don't believe that stuff? Let me tell you, I stood before a judge one time. And the judge said this, how do you plead? And I said, not guilty, Your Honor. Stupid state. It was the state of Alabama versus Steve Hill. I hated that, man. Why can't it be Joe Blow or somebody? Why the state of Alabama? The whole state? I don't know the whole state. The state of Alabama. And this prosecuting attorney, he'd walk up. Your Honor. And he'd pull out this tablet and start reading everything that I had done over the last two years. They needed to be real specific. He would say on April the 7th, 1974, at 7 o'clock in the evening, Steve got out of his house and stepped into a blue Volkswagen. And drove over to Winn-Dixie grocery store parked on the side. A man in a black van pulled up. And I'm sitting there, I'm trembling. Why? It's a day of perfect justice, my friend. And I'm trembling because they're reading my mail. God has read your mail, my friend. He knows everything about you. And they're sitting there reading. And then my lawyer listens to this. And he finally goes, time. He steps up to me and he goes, is this stuff true? And I said, we need to talk. He takes me back into his chamber. You want to know what the lawyer said? He sticks his finger in my face. And he says to this, don't you ever lie to me. He said, I'm trying to defend you. And now we're going to lose this case. Because I could not find a technicality. Because I did not know it. So, Matthew 12, 36 through 37. You read it about your tongue. Every idle word. You'll give it an account on judgment day. All your words, Matthew 12, 36 and 37. What you did with your time and your talents. 1 Corinthians 3, 13. It shall be revealed by fire. Oh, fire hot. Fire hot. Fire burn. Fire melt away. Fire expose. Everything that's not gold. Leonard used to say to me, when you stand before God at the judgment seat of Christ. Make sure you're not standing knee deep in ashes. That means all your works were burned up. Thought it was God. It wasn't God. You'll be held accountable for the truth. The Bible says in Psalm 14, 1. The fool has said in their heart, there is no God. Now, also. On that final day, you will stand before a righteous judge who's holding an up-to-date journal. Everyone say, up-to-date journal. Oh, my friend. He is perfect. He hasn't skipped one day of recording the acts of mankind. Not only does he know the detail of every sin that you've committed. But he was there and he witnessed it when it was being committed. As I said, there's always three witnesses. The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. The judge of all the earth will do right. Man, you're standing right there. The judge is right here. And he was there when you sinned. And you're trying to lie about it? That's why the Bible says in Revelation 5, 2. Who is worthy to open the book? The judge is worthy. The man, Jesus, is worthy to open the book. Why? He was there. You better listen up, because you don't hear this kind of stuff. I want to tell you something, folks. You better get around stuff like this. Because this nation is just sliding uncontrollably downhill. And we're dragging the world with us. But thank God there's a new generation rising up. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I've read the Word. I've read that book. And you guys ain't preaching the whole thing. Hey, I believe. Whoa. I believe in love. Or in Texas, love. I believe in love. I believe in grace and mercy and all this fun stuff. And I believe in all kinds of social work. Philanthropy and feeding the poor and everything. I believe in all that. But you can give millions to feeding the poor. Billions. And die and go to hell. And the poor will die and go to hell, too. They just died and went to hell with a full belly. Shoo-wee. The Bible says, Revelation 20, verse 12, The dead were judged and all those things which were written in the book. Stay with me. See, it doesn't matter what came out of the mouth of man down here. What matters is what comes out of the mouth of the Messiah up there. I just wrote that this morning. It doesn't matter what comes out of the mouth of man down here. Someone could walk up to you and say, You're awesome, man. You're a blessing. You're the best person on planet earth. You need to get by yourself and go, Lord Jesus, who am I? Take me not away from thy presence. Take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of. Lord, I've learned how to wear a mask. I've learned how to play Christianity. Judge me, O God. But don't be too harsh on me. Work with me, Jesus. Ooh, I can feel his presence in this place. On that day, I love this. This is a God message. There will be no trial by jury. Look this way, folks. Trial by jury. I'm going to get the right people there. You know what I'm talking about. Peers. People that love me. That's like you commit sin as a pastor, and they take you and put you with a bunch of folks that love you. And they go, Brother Steve, we know that you did this. But you know something? We know that you've got a good heart. So for three months, we're not going to let you preach nowhere. And this is going on right now, folks, in America. For three months, you can't preach nowhere. But after three months, you can go back out and start preaching again. You shouldn't have done that. You shouldn't have laid in that bed with that woman. Bad boy. That's a jury of peers. On that final day, you'll stand before the one and only righteous judge. There will be no go listen to the preacher. There will be no go listen to the teacher. I'm going to talk to you today about judgment day. That's impossible, folks. There's coming a really, really, really bad day. That could be a good day if you're a good person. No one loves folks like I love folks. Folks, I love people. In our crusades, you see me in here. I get on my hands and knees on a dirt floor, man. Put my arms around some kid, pray over them. I love people. Why is it that people love us so much? And they do. Because we're real. We're honest. Why is it when we hold a two-day crusade, the first night, people go, my God. The next night, they're there with six friends. Why? Because they know if they can get them underneath this type of fire, that they'll get saved. There's people here today that have been brought just for this service. There will be no group of men and women there to schmooze and sweet talk. Your girlfriend or your boyfriend won't be there to lean on. Your mommy and your daddy won't be permitted to stand with you as character witnesses. You know, mama's always going to say something good about you. Character witnesses. The judge is looking. He knows you're a slime bag. But mommy's there going, in his heart, he's a good boy. He's just going through a season. A season of robbing people, you know, holding up banks. It's just a face. She's just, so she's sleeping around a little bit. She's only 15. She'll grow out of it. She'll probably grow out of it. There'll be no shoulder to cry on. No final argument. No counsel to defend you. No high-paid, famous, flamboyant, clever defense lawyer to get you off on a technicality. No one will come racing into the courtroom at the last minute like in the movies to free you from your certain fate. There'll be no jury to sway. Wink it. You're all alone, exposed before the judge of the universe. There's no appeals, no retrials, no pleading insanity. No pleading to a lesser charge. No mistrial, no hung jury. No parole. The Bible says in Hebrews 10, 31, it's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God. Now many of you know I carry with me everywhere, everywhere in the world here at this church, everywhere I go I preach, I carry this. This is a copy of Jonathan Edwards, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. This is an old, old copy. My brother George, he's here today, gave me this back in 1741. He says this. I'm just preaching just a portion of it. And this is all found in, it's out of the, their foot shall slide in due time. Talking about the sinners. Their foot shall slide in due time. Deuteronomy 32, 35. He said the wrath of God is like great waters that are damned up for the present. They increase more and more and rise higher and higher till an atlas is given and no longer the stream is stopped. The more rapid and mighty is its course when once it is let loose. Then he writes this. The bow of God's wrath is bent and the arrow is made ready on the string and justice bends the arrow at your heart and strains the bow and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God and that of an angry God. Without any promise or obligation at all. It's God's grace. I'm adding there. That's what he's saying. That keeps the arrow one moment from being made drunk with your blood. Why is it you could preach that in America 250 years ago but you can't preach it today? And it shook the nation. Probably the greatest message that's ever been preached is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. You know what's interesting? It's not on CD. It's not on DVD. 1700s. Word of mouth. And somebody taking notes. And then the written copy, and I've seen the written copy of Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God and I just stood over it going, My God, I'm two feet away from a message that shook the state of Connecticut and swept like wildfire through the U.S. of A. My last point in this message on Judgment Day. And you're going to see two points sort of scroll right here. In order for you to be found clean at the judgment up there, you better first get washed in the blood of Jesus down here. For the judge to pronounce you not guilty up there, you better get justified by the blood of Jesus down here. Justified. You know what justified means? It means to be not found guilty. And you didn't be found guilty. Why? It's just as you've heard this phrase in Christianity. Justified. Never sinned. It means to be made clean and pure. Romans 5-9. I'm justified by His blood. So I'm saved from the wrath to come. 1 Corinthians 6-11. But such were some of you. But you're washed. You're sanctified. You're justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our Lord. Justified. Never sinned. Well, in closing, the Bible says in Philippians 2, 10, and 11 that in the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Everyone say every. That's you. That's me. Jude 24 says this. Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. That's the bottom line. You know, Solomon said in the book of Ecclesiastes, the last two verses, he said this. Here's the final word. Fear God and keep His commandments for you shall be judged for everything you did on earth. Read it for yourself. For those of you, I've got to put these scriptures on this DVD and I want you to hear it at home and I want everyone to hear this. There's a place that the wicked will go that I'm not planning on visiting. It's a place where the worm never dies. Mark 9, 44. It's a bottomless pit. Revelation 9, 2. It's total darkness. Matthew 25, 30. It's the mist of darkness. 2 Timothy 2, 17. It's blackness of darkness forever. Jude 1, 13. It's the lake of fire and brimstone. Revelation 19, 20. It's a fire that shall never be quenched. Mark 9, 43. It's a vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1, 7. It's the furnace of fire. Matthew 13, 42. It's a fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Matthew 25, 41. It's where weeping and gnashing of teeth takes place. Matthew 22, 13. It's the lake of fire. Revelation 20, verse 10. It's the lake of burning sulfur. Revelation 21, 8. It's the wine of God's fury. Revelation 14, 9 through 11. Robert Murray McShane said this. Make sure you die right the first time because you can't come back and do it again. I want you at the marriage supper of the Lamb with me. I want you to sit with me with Elijah and Elisha and Jeremiah and John and Charles Finney and all the great preachers, men and women of God over the years, and all the great men and women of God, all the laity, all the people that have lived for Jesus over the years. Come into the kingdom. Get prepared for judgment day right now because you don't know if it's going to be sudden judgment or you're going to die of old age, but the bottom line is if the rapture doesn't take you as a Christian, you're going to die of old age or a sudden wreck or some calamity, something in your body, and the bottom line is you're going to stand before God. I started this with it is appointed unto man once to die after this the judgment. You need to be ready. When you stand before God, He needs to look at you and say, Come on in. Well done, my good and faithful servant. So those of you at home right now, if you need Jesus Christ in your heart, I want you to pray this prayer with me. Say, Jesus. As a matter of fact, everyone pray this out loud. Jesus, I ask you now to forgive me. Wash me, Jesus. Cleanse me. I repent. Be my Savior. Be my Lord and my very best friend. From this moment on, I am yours and you are mine. Come live your life through me. I give myself to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
