So, first we have to find a solution for the sin rooted in us. The Holy Bible teaches us that God will not hear the prayer of a sinner who does not repent. So first, we have to repent and consecrate ourselves. Only Jesus, the Son of God, can forgive sins: “the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sins.” (1 John 1:7) St. Paul the apostle in his letter to the Ephesians says that, “in Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” (Ephesians 1:7) Do we have any other savior to save this world? For God who created the whole world sent only one person to save the whole world. If He could create the world, we can assess with normal intelligence that He could bring salvation through one person. If He could not do this, belief in the Almighty God who created the whole world would be unfounded. That is not possible. For the people who believe in many saviors, the Holy Bible gives them an unarguable answer: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) Here, Joshua gathered the entire nation of Israel in front of the Lord. Joshua had Israel come forward tribe by tribe, and Judah was chosen. The clans of Judah came forward, and the Zerahites were chosen. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward family by family, and Zimri was chosen. Joshua had Zimri’s family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was chosen. Look what God has done! Afterward, they sent messengers to the tent and recovered everything which Achan had robbed. Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had to the Valley of Achor. Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them. Over the remains they heaped up a large pile of rocks. Still now that valley is called the Valley of Achor. The term “Achor” means “trouble” or “fight” in Hebrew. Analyze this. When one person committed sin, problems, sorrow, failure and pain began. The sin which was kindled inside one person started to grow. It was not limited to a single person, instead slowly it started extending to the entire society.
