Sermon Summary
Phil Beach Jr. emphasizes that God reveals Himself to those who are humble, lowly, and spiritually bankrupt, contrasting them with the wise and prudent who often miss His call. He highlights the importance of responding to God's wisdom, which invites all to come to Jesus, the embodiment of divine wisdom. The preacher encourages the congregation to seek a relationship with God, emphasizing that true riches come from knowing Him intimately. He outlines six heart conditions that attract God's presence: the babe, the lowly, the poor in spirit, the contrite, the meek, and the pure in heart. Ultimately, Beach calls for a transformation in how we seek God, urging the congregation to respond to His call and receive the treasures He offers.

They say to put a fly on the tip of your tongue and it'll jump out, well it didn't work, it's still there, so I'm going to have to use this. Thank you, Father. We love you. You're really doing the work. Father, we want to immediately give you the praise and glory. We want to acknowledge publicly before all people that this indeed is a work from you, and that you alone, O God, are to be praised and worshipped and magnified. We walk softly in your presence, for we know that your word says that you'll share your glory with no flesh, and that our boasting must be in the Lord and that we know Him. Now, Lord, we want you to continue to move. We know this is the beginning of great outpourings of your Holy Spirit. We know that you'll draw all men unto yourself, and we thank thee and praise thee, Lord, for this thy great move. For you indeed have taken the responsibility to build your church. You have indeed taken the responsibility to uplift your church. You judge your church. You sanctify your church. For you are the head, you are the one that stands in the midst of thy people. You are the one with the all-searching eye. You are the one, O God, that is in control of thy people. I thank thee, Lord, that we are but servants. And, Lord, if there be a prayer in my heart at this moment, it is that I would walk humbly before thee, that I would love thee, O God, with my whole heart, and that we together, Lord, would see thy glory and thy majesty, and truly, truly be transformed by thy power. Now, Lord, I pray that you'll take your word this morning, and by the same Spirit of God that has already moved in our midst, take this word and lodge it deep within our hearts, so that thy people may know the importance of responding to your call. For now is the day of salvation. Behold, now is the accepted time. Now is the day. Help us, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen. Proverbs 1, beginning in verse number 20. Wisdom calls aloud in the street. Now, friends, before we go on, I just want to say, this is wisdom. This is wisdom, what's happening in our midst. The wisdom of God is to call a people to humble themselves, and look to Him that they might live. This is wisdom calling in our midst this morning. Wisdom has called in our midst. Wisdom is calling us right now. The wisdom of God is the person of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is saying, fall upon the rock and be broken, lest the rock fall upon thee and crush you. The Lord never desires to crush anybody. He first invites all to come and fall upon the rock. That is simply to respond to the call of the Holy Spirit. No man can come unto the Father except the Spirit draw him. And if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. All men are being invited to come to the Savior. There's not a soul that's been bypassed this morning. There's not a soul that the Savior's love didn't reach into. And as we respond to wisdom, as we respond to the call of God, what is the wisdom of God? The person of Jesus Christ. He is the wisdom of God. He is the wisdom of God. And as we respond, we are falling upon the rock. The rock is the Lord Himself. And in falling upon the rock, we are broken. But in brokenness, we find Him. We see Him. We fellowship with Him. And we love Him. Wisdom calls aloud. Oh, how I heard wisdom calling this morning. She raises her voice in the public squares. At the head of the noisy streets, she cries aloud. In the gateways of the city, she makes her speech. How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. But since you rejected me when I called, and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand, since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you, when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. Then they will call to me, but I will not answer. They will look for me, but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke. Verse 31 is our major verse this morning. They will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. Wisdom is calling. Wisdom has called each one of us this morning. Wisdom continues to call. Wisdom is God, by His Spirit, calling us to look to Jesus in all things. And He calls us to look to Jesus so that we will not eat the fruit of our own ways and be filled with the fruit of our own schemes. For indeed, if we respond to His rebuke and we listen to His call, and we fall upon Him, then we will be broken and contrite and meek and humble and lowly, and the Lord will pour out His heart to you, and He will make known His thoughts to you. May I suggest that His thoughts are hidden, His heart is hidden, to all who will not respond to Him. And when His thoughts are hidden and His heart is not known, then we are turned over to our own way, our own plans, our own schemes, and we reap the consequences of whatever they may be. This is why the Savior comes in such majesty and glitters in our midst with such intensity, seeking to win us by His love that we may choose Him as He draws us. This is why He's doing this. This is why He came in such tenderness and such love this morning, because it is not His will that we be turned over, but rather that we would hear and heed. And then His heart is made known to us. Oh, friends, could there be any greater joy that you can think of right now than to know the heart of God? Tell me, tell me, somebody stand right now and tell me what is greater than to know the heart of God and to understand His thoughts and to commune with Him? There's nothing greater. Do not think the Lord wants to be a mystery to you because He doesn't. Jesus said, I no longer call you servants but friends, for a servant knoweth not what his master doeth, but a friend does. God said Abraham was His friend. Jesus took 12 disciples and made 11 of them His friend. What is a friend? Responding, yielding to the call of the Savior. Dear, what meaneth this move of God this morning? May I say that it's the beginning? It's the beginning of Christ's outpouring of His Spirit. It's happening. It takes time, but it's happening. God will take a lantern in search, as the prophet Ezekiel says, and He'll go through all of His house. That is, all of those who call upon the name of the Lord, all of those who confess Jesus as their Savior, even now the lantern of the Lord is going to and fro throughout the entire church. And He's finding, He's seeking, the Savior's always seeking. He's seeking people to worship Him in spirit and truth. He's seeking the lost. He's seeking the one who has a perfect heart, meaning a heart that is responsive to God. A perfect heart is not a sinless heart, meaning one incapable of sin, but a perfect heart is a heart that says, Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. When His light shines, Yes, Lord, do you want to wake me up? Is there something you want? There's a perfect heart. Now the Lord is seeking. And God is going to find all who will come to Him. And He's going to gather them under Himself and establish a reign of righteousness in their life. Listen, friends. While the religious world continues to go on, and while men and women continue to worship God with their mouth, and their hearts are far from Him, and where there continues to be a form of godliness, but the denying of the power of God, that will continue, Paul said. Religious fiasco. A lot of excitement and movement with no heart change at all. These things will continue to the end. But I assure you by the authority of God's Word, that in this very hour, this very minute that we are living in today, God is not so much distressed over the religious fiasco as He is eager to find those that want Him and to reveal Himself unto them. And they will be placed under the headship of Christ. The Lord will become their shepherd and He will establish in them His reign. Where it's a love relationship. And the Lord will lead them to living waters. And they'll thirst no more. They'll hunger no more. And they won't be critical. And they won't be judgmental. And they won't point the finger. And they'll let God be the judge of what's going on. And the Lord Himself will be the attention of those people. And God is going to cut the fat out of church. Even now He's lifting up His hand and shaking the Hollywood Christianities out the door. Jesus is eager again to come back into the church and be the center of attention. Where the hearts of people are captivated by Him and not by anything else. The Word of God will become a precious book. We will no longer preach about the Bible, but we will preach the Bible. And the Lord will be King. And those people will be looking for His coming. Eagerly awaiting the sound of the trump. When the law of gravity is suddenly defied. Hallelujah! And all of a sudden, at the blinking of an eye, it's going to be all over with. Do you believe in the second coming? Has the devil made you doubt the second coming? If he has, the Lord rebuke him today. As sure as you're in this building, Jesus, I'm more sure Jesus is coming. He's going to come. He's going to come for those that are looking for Him. Oh, yes, He is. And you're going to be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. But friends, God is going to walk among His people and gather together those whose hearts are looking and longing for Him. And the Lord alone will satisfy in that day the gimmicks, the games, the charlatans will be gone. Now listen, they're not going to be gone. They're going to still be around. But their influence is going to be gone. And Jesus is going to take the heart of His people. He's so eager to move in our midst. I want to share six kinds of hearts that attract the Lord. As I said, the Lord put two messages on my heart. The one I just shared. But oh, how the Lord did things so much better. He comes and He calls us and He seeks for you to respond to Him. But nevertheless, the message God did give was the danger of deliberate disobedience. Friends, heed Proverbs today. There's absolutely no reason under the sun why any soul sitting in this place today should fall to the prey of reaping your own way. For the Savior has called His wisdom. And now if you respond to His call, that means you are falling on the rock. Listen, I assure you that you will not be crushed, but tenderly broken by the hands of Jesus Himself. And here's what it will produce. Here's what it will produce. And then the second message God put on my heart. To whom shall the Lord reveal Himself? I got this. The only paper I had was my calendar. So I wrote it in my calendar. Sophisticated notes. I failed to find the Scripture references. If while I'm ministering this and someone comes across a Scripture reference, just lift your hand, I'll acknowledge you, and you can give the Scripture reference, and we'll all help one another. Is that alright? Do you like to help people? Or do you like to laugh at people when they're hurt? I hope you like to help them. To whom shall God reveal Himself? First of all, He's going to reveal Himself to the babe. To the little babe. Now, the babe in Scripture, in reference to a heart state. The state of a heart means the unsophisticated in mind and the trusting in heart as compared to the wise and prudent who are full of natural knowledge with no trusting heart. The babe. Now, I know there's a Scripture in the New Testament, Norman, where Jesus said, I thank Thee, Father, that Thou hast hid these things from the wise and the prudent, but hast revealed them unto babes. Even so. And then Jesus goes on to say something like, this was pleasing in your eyes. Matthew 11. Now, see how good this works? I like this. Maybe I'll come unprepared always. I'll get you more involved. Matthew 11. That's pretty good, isn't it, Carrie? It works good. Matthew 11.25. To whom shall the Lord reveal Himself? Friends, I want you to know something. God never makes an exception to these divine truths. And the only exception He does make is when He reveals Himself in divine judgment. But if you want to know the heart and the thoughts of God, as it says in Proverbs chapter 1, if you would have responded to me, I would have made known my thoughts and revealed my heart. If you want to know the depths of Jesus, some people are seeking to know the depths of Satan. If you want to know the depths of Jesus, here's the road that you must go down. And if you bypass this road, you will not know those things that are hidden from the wise and the prudent. This is why Jesus said, blessed are the poor. I'm getting ahead of myself. The unsophisticated in mind and trustful in heart compared to the wise and prudent who are filled and possessed with natural knowledge alone, with no trusting heart. Did you know when wisdom calls, as it did this morning, it will not appeal to the wise and prudent? It will appear to be foolish. The wise and prudent will always criticize the man of Galilee, the lowly man who comes today, not in person, but through the Holy Spirit. The wise and prudent will always look and criticize and judge. And the devil will always lie to the wise and prudent. And the word that is sown will be snatched from their heart immediately. The devil can snatch the word from all the wise and prudent. And he'll tell them a lie and they'll believe why it's foolish. And they'll miss the blessing of God. They'll sit right like Jesus said. Many will say, did we not walk with you in the streets? I mean, they were six feet from the Savior and they're going to be separated from Him. What a paradox. Six feet from their Creator and they didn't know Him. Why? Because they were wise and prudent and refused. The Savior called. That's foolishness. I want to play church. Friends, Jesus is cleaning the temple. That means He's going into the hearts of His people. And the outward show is no more. Number two. The lowly in heart. The lowly in heart. Isaiah 55, 17. I believe there's a scripture in Isaiah 55, 17. Someone might want to read that if they find it. Nice and loud. Is the word lowly in there? Excuse me? Hmm. Amen. The word lowly implies humbleness of heart and mind. Listen to this. A lowered mind. The word lowly and humble implies low lying. Do you lie low? Low lying. This is in relation to the highness of God. The lowly in heart are those who because of seeing Him who is high, they walk low. They walk low. They're lowly. They're low. Their mind, their heart is low. They're soft in the presence of Him who is God. Now see, this attracts the Savior. Don't you want these things in your life? Blessed Jesus said, how blessed. Here Jesus was looking at hundreds of people. But Jesus knew that only the ones that were poor and humble would know and understand who He was and what He was saying. How He longed for men to bow themselves before God. How He longed for men, how He longed for Israel to come to Him. And He said, but ye would not. Number three. I like this one. Now this is in the Beatitudes 5.1 Matthew 5.1 We've got the babe, the lowly, and now we've got the poor in spirit. Listen to this. The poor in spirit. Spiritually bankrupt. Spiritually bankrupt. A knowing of having no resources within yourself. The poor in spirit. A knowing. A gripping knowing. A convicting knowing. An overcoming knowing. Oh, friends. I mean, it's more real than if you went to the bank and the teller said, you have nothing. I mean, how would you feel? Some of you are probably saying, well, I don't have nothing. Well, that's okay. Praise the Lord. Now remember now. To whom shall the Lord reveal Himself? The gifted? The one who looks good? The one who can put on a good show? The one who can quote scriptures? The one who's got gifts and can make things work? The one who can blow the trumpet or sing or dance? The one who can preach up a storm? Hallelujah. Turn your Bibles now to... No. No, it's none of those. It's the babe. It's the lowly, and now it's the poor in spirit. Listen to this. Wholly poverty stricken. Fully destitute. That's what the poor in spirit is. Now see, men don't realize that's the way we are. But only those who, what? Respond to the call and heed His voice. Only those does God reveal this to. And then after you find out you're poor in spirit, then you know what will follow? Lowliness and being a babe. You can't know you're poor in spirit without then falling into the state of lowliness where you lower yourself. Wow. And you can't find credit when you're bankrupt. You know, we're bankrupt and we don't have any money. We just go into credit. But you see, there's no spiritual credit in the kingdom of God. When you're bankrupt, you're bankrupt. Next. Now Carey read this, Isaiah 55, 17. The contrite in heart. The contrite in heart are the broken in spirit. The crushed and smitten in spirit. Now the contrite one is the one who hears His call and falls on the rock. Broken. Not fixed to have your way. Not determined to do your own thing. But contrite. An attribute only God Himself can produce in the heart of a man. The contrite. How good it is to be broken before God. And contrite. Do you feel a sense of weakness before God or do you feel strength? Next. The meek in heart. Now a good definition of the meek in heart. Thought about this, looked at a couple things. I sort of came up with my own. But I believe that the Savior is very eager for you to become meek and I tell you the truth. The absence of meekness greatly limits God's, I don't want to say ability because I'm not limiting God, but it limits God's availability to come to you. The absence of meekness. Now listen to how we're going to define what meekness is and let it touch your heart. The meek is the attitude of heart whereby we prefer to suffer wrong than do wrong. We prefer to suffer wrong than to do wrong. That means a man who at the feet of Jesus gives up his rights. We prefer to do wrong or we prefer to suffer wrong. To be misunderstood, criticized, lied about than to do wrong by taking things into our own hands and seeking vengeance of many forms. How we can seek vengeance? But the Bible says the meek shall see and know. The meek. I will suffer wrong for Jesus' sake than to do wrong. How beautiful it would be for heaven to look down upon those that call on his name and see a bunch of people who are willing to suffer wrong because they refuse to do wrong. Boy, I want my Christianity to start affecting that area of my life. What do you think? Lastly, I like this one too. The pure in heart shall see God. Pure is not contaminated. Isn't that good? Not contaminated. Free from defilement. Free from any form of mixture. The word denotes chastity. The pure in heart shall see God. Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. Now, I just read six jewels. Friends, I've said it before and I'll say it again. If I just gave you a plan on how to make a million dollars in six steps guaranteed to work, how many of you would go home today and start planning on how you were going to start putting these steps into action? We have some honest people here. Now listen. Listen, friends. He that has ears to hear, let him hear. I just brought to you from the word of God six jewels that God holds in His right hand and will give to anyone who will come to Him. And these jewels, once you possess them, will guarantee you access to God's heart and thoughts and you will know the God who is the creator of heaven and earth and you can walk with Him and talk with Him and you can share in the joy of knowing God in a most intimate way that would defy human explanation. Now what are you doing about it? Oh, that God would transform our thinking so that we don't look for the treasure chest at the end of the rainbow but we look for the jewels in the hand of the Savior. His hand is closed and I tell you, you can pump a church, you can jump, shout, scream, do whatever you want, but you can't budge the Savior's hand. It's closed. But when wisdom calls, hallelujah, and when the soul responds, yes, Lord, here I come. The Savior's hand begins to loosen and He lets you see what's inside. He says, if you'll tarry and wait on Me and just keep yielding to My call, just keep yielding to My grace, I'll open up My hand and start planting these jewels in your heart and you'll be a rich person for Jesus. You'll be so rich. You'll be so satisfied. The world won't appeal to you anymore. You'll be like Moses who was willing to forsake the pleasures of sin for a season in order to bear the reproach of God's people because His eyes were on the invisible God and He was looking for a city whose builder and maker was God. Oh, you'll be so rich. How rich are you? Come, buy of Me, Jesus said to the Laodiceans. Now we understand what He's talking about. Come, buy of Me true riches, Norman, true riches. I like what the apostles said. Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have. What did they have? They had the heavenly riches. Rise up and walk. Oh, God. May He grant these things to us. I'm encouraged. I hope you are. Father, may I read them one more time? The babe, the lowly, the poor, the contrite, the meek, and the pure. Jewels in the Savior's hand. Let's pray. Father, Your God, You visited us this morning. Wisdom has called, and wisdom will continue to call. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a responsive heart. Help us to say yes when You call, and begin to reveal to us the treasure in Your right hand. Make us rich so that we can walk with You in a very real way. We ask in Jesus' name. Amen. And amen. I don't want to close the service, but I will say this. First of all, we want to make an announcement. We're going to have a Hallelujah Party Tuesday, October 31st at 5.30 to 8.30 p.m. Sign-up sheet is in the back if you'd like to help with refreshments. It's for children. Inquire after the service in the back of the vestibule if you want your children to go to a Hallelujah Party. Number two, Carrie and Alice, for you who do not know, they are planning on getting married. Congratulations. The wedding will be November 25th, and there is a sign-up sheet in the back on the table for all who want to attend their wedding. They're asking that you sign your name, the amount of people that will be there, and they're also asking you, if you can, to bring a special dish. The reception will follow the wedding, and it's a potluck dinner where we all bring something and then have a good time. If you're interested, find the sign-up sheet in the back of the church. And number three, I have here on my paper, please apologize for the lack of lights. We're sorry that it's a little dark in here. We're asking the college to rectify the problem, and we're praying, and we're believing the Lord to do whatever is necessary so we can have a little more light. And that's it as far as the announcements. We do have church tonight at 630, and I do want to invite...
