Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the speaker emphasizes the importance of giving our whole heart to God, rather than settling for 99.9%. The speaker uses examples from everyday life, such as defective tires, flat soft drinks, and incorrect prescriptions, to illustrate the consequences of accepting less than perfection. The speaker also references Denny's restaurant, which strives for 100% customer satisfaction, and argues that if a restaurant can aim for perfection, then we should strive to give our all to God. The sermon concludes by posing the question of whether it is important to give God our whole heart, emphasizing the need for complete surrender to Him.
Sermon Transcription
He says, Therefore, also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning, turn ye with all your heart, giving everything you can to surrender to God, all your heart, not 99.9, 99.9. I'd have to say all of you would probably settle for that. 99.9% of your heart given to God. But here's another thing I got, real spiritual place, I got this from, it's Denny's, Denny's Restaurant. It says, Our goal should always be, apparently Denny's gather all their people and they teach them this stuff. Our goal should always be to ensure that every guest leaves satisfied. There's nothing tricky about it. We all make mistakes, it's how we handle those mistakes that we, that will either lose us a guest or create a new and loyal guest. And you know we don't just lose one guest. It is true that an unsatisfied guest will relate their bad experience to at least ten of their friends and family members. If 99.9% of our guests are satisfied, that is good enough, right? And Denny's says, maybe not. While it is good, and it is, it's not good enough. Consider this, if 99.9% was good enough, then 810 commercial airline flights would crash every month. 99.9%, if all commercial, you know this thing, hey, that's our safety record. Then 810 a month are going to crash. 99.9, 46,720,000 letters lost or delivered to the wrong address each year. 46 million. 107 incorrect medical procedures would be performed every day. If 99.9% were right, 76 new babies born each month in the United States would be given to the wrong parents. Is it important? All our hearts? 99.9, right God? God said all. Oh, listen to these. 268,000 defective tires would be shipped this year. 5,517,000 cases of soft drinks produced in the next 12 months will be flatter than a bad tire. 20,000 incorrect drug prescriptions will be written in the next 12 months. 761, almost 762,000 dollars will be spent in the next 12 months on tapes and CDs that won't play. 15,000 newborn babies would be dropped during delivery every 99.9% good enough. God says in these bad times, what I want you to do is turn to me with all your heart. If Denny's was satisfied with 99.9%, Denny's would lose 416,000 guests every year because we allowed them to leave without resolving the issue. Okay, this is at a conservative gross. Is that national product? I'm not sure how they're coming up with. They lose $7 a person. It comes up to almost $3 million lost in sales. Now we're talking about almighty God. And almighty God is saying to us, turn to me with all. If it's not good enough for Denny's, how can we say it's good enough for God?
