Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the importance of recognizing and relying on the law of God. He explains that no matter what we do or how we feel, the law will always operate and have control over our lives. The preacher encourages the audience to confess their hopes and hesitations, but to ultimately establish God as righteous and His word as truth. He references Romans 3:4, which states that God should be true and every man a liar, highlighting the need to prioritize God above our own thoughts and feelings. The sermon also discusses the example of Abraham and Sarah, who had to enter into mutual faith for the law to work in their lives.

Here stands the scripture, beloved Charlie, the epistle of Paul to the Romans. I want us tonight, by the Lord's grace, to stay and consider the revelation of faith. Faith. And perhaps you will already be aware that this is one of the great revelations in scripture of this vital power, this great truth of God. So then, the rest, if I stop just in believing, will do me no good at all. The consequent action upon the moral conviction of my heart, or faith, if it is anything, is there. The action I take there, upon this great moral inward conviction, brings me into the things that God wants me to have, by his wonderful grace. All right then, in this great first chapter, let's introduce ourselves to the subject. The first chapter of Paul's letter to Romans, verse 7, to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called saints. You will, if you have a good bible, see the words to be are not there. Not called to be saints. You are called saints. It's what God has called you by. Amen. I don't know whether you feel like it, but that's the truth, which will teach you straight away not to go by your feelings. Because what God says is true. Called saints. Grace to you, all saints need grace. All saints must have peace. Amen. From God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, now listen to the first thing he says. I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. Praise the Lord. What a wonderful testimony from this great saint of God, that these people, and he'd never been to Rome himself, he'd never met these people. By the way, there's no proof in the world that Peter ever went to Rome. There is proof that Paul did. Paul had not yet been to Rome, but he hears of the faith of the saints there, wherever he goes in the world. They're all talking about the faith of these people in Rome. I don't know whether you've got any faith worth speaking of, whether anybody ever talks about it. Your faith, it's good for somebody else to talk about it. Usually I find if people come to me and say I've got great faith, I've got great faith, I've got great faith for this, I usually know that they're telling me they haven't. It's not usual to talk about your own faith. It's usual that other people do. In the things of the spirit, this is tremendous. Faith's like that, you don't talk about it, you know you've got it yourself. All you do is really live, it's glorious. So people say, ah that man's got some faith, that woman's full of faith. That's what Jesus said, he said, good woman, great is thy faith. She didn't say, oh I've got a lot of faith in her Lord, I've come because I'm full up with faith. It was him who told her that she'd got great faith. It's best to be told you by God, and you remember that the Spirit of God is speaking here through this great apostle Paul, and it is he who was saying the truth, that their faith was spoken of throughout the whole world. You better see that that happens about Rehoboam, or anywhere else you happen to come from, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. I doubt very much that it will be spoken of throughout the whole world, unless it's spoken about in the very little world in which you move, first of all. And that's a great and glorious thing, when you're called a man or a woman of faith. And mark you, if you're not of faith, you're scarcely a man or a woman yet. You haven't arrived, not yet. For as sure as we are in this ruinous night, beloved, God has sent forth the Spirit and the gospel of his Son in grace to bring us all to the place of faith. That we, moving in faith, should receive, live in, and enjoy everything that God has for us. Amen. And so, if we look a little lower down that chapter, you will find this. In verse 12, Paul says that he wants to be comforted, together with these Romans, by the mutual faith, both of you and me. Now you will see that this is based upon what he says in verse 11. I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift. Now, you see this, that everything spiritual then, beloved, is imparted, every spiritual gift is imparted from faith to faith. Now you have a great revelation here, that in this realm of spiritual truth, in this realm of the gospel, only faith counts. You see, it's here, it's gift, it's all gift, it's mutual faith, it's faith in the giver and faith in the receiver. There you have the picture of it all. Everything is comprehended in this glorious truth. Outward to the fly, you'll see detail of it as we go on. We're being introduced here, by the glorious spirit, to things that we must know, and know very, very clearly in our heart. This is why you read such verses in Hebrews 11, which says that without faith it's impossible to please God. Completely impossible. God has no pleasure in anyone who has not faith, none at all. He loves them, but he doesn't have pleasure in them. He'd love to do something for them, but he can't do the thing that pleases his heart, because they do not know what faith is, nor how to act in faith. And everything that God is doing in this great realm of salvation, is by faith. Amen. And let us understand it, and understand it well. Now let's go lower down the same chapter, and in verse 17, or let's start at verse 16. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God. Unto salvation, to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, also to the Greek, for therein in this great gospel which is the power of God, understand, for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith. There it is, it's mutual faith. Faith in God, and faith in me. And this is how it all works. From faith to faith, the righteousness of God is revealed, as it is written, the just shall live by faith. Amen. And so we see immediately then, beloved, that life is by faith. And who hath not this faith, hath not life, the just live by faith. Amen. That's how they live. This is, when you are alive under God, it's a faith life. And anything else, it's a faith life. Amen. It doesn't mean, that's not intended to convey to you that you're one of these people who sort of precariously eke out an existence by clinging to your eyebrows to some promise that God has made. That's not what it means at all. It's simply stating a fact, there is no life but the faith life. God only lives because he's a faith God. That's what you ought to understand. That's right. Let me say that again. God is a faith God. That's why he's a living God. That's right. That's a tremendous thing. And unless you're a faith person, you're dead. You're not alive. So you see the tremendous importance, beloved, of this great speech. It's rather important that somebody should hear about your faith. Don't you see? Somebody should hear about your faith. Now it isn't important that somebody hears that you're a Sunday school teacher, or a printer, or a missionary, or a social worker, or this that. Now that's not important whether they hear about whether you're a teacher, or doctor. It's important that they hear of your faith. It's very important that they hear about it in heaven. Very important. Because you see, beloved, it's all from faith to faith. Now we've got to understand some fundamental things about this glorious faith. They're in this scripture. We'll look through it. We've just stayed in the first chapter so far. We shall move about through the scripture, and the Lord will reveal to us many, many things. Now our hearts, beloved, must open up unto the Lord. They must open up unto the truth. If you want to get anywhere with God, you must fearlessly face the truth. You must not try the ostrich method of putting your head in the sand of your beliefs, or something. You must face up to the truth. You must bear your soul to it. You must fearlessly do it. There's no need to be fearful. No need to run away from faith. By glory be to the name of the Lord. This is life. And so we'll prospect a little further, and in the third chapter, we will come across something that's absolutely important for us to understand. In the third chapter, we read this. The righteousness of God, verse 22, which is by faith of Jesus Christ. You see how the righteousness is? It's by faith of Jesus Christ. You notice it didn't say faith in. Now notice this very clearly. It says it's by the faith of Jesus Christ is unto all and upon all them that believe. For there is no difference for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And you must see, beloved, that God has decided to move in this faith realm precisely because we are sinners. And isn't it? We start as sinners for this very reason. This is God's method of dealing with sinners. Amen. That's you and me, before we are saved from it by his grace. This is wonderful. Because we've all sinned, because all of us have come short of the glory of God, then this is why God has decided to deal with us in this great manner of faith. And as we go down that same chapter, we get to this verse which reads like this, in verse 26. To declare at this time his righteousness that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus, where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of what? Nay, but by the law of faith. Now that's what you and I have got to see. That this faith that we're talking about is law. Law. Now you know what law is, don't you? Law is something that must be. Now it's not talking about a law that's made. For instance, we might make a law tonight that everybody's got to be silent by eight o'clock, you see. I doubt whether we would keep it, but we, you see, we might. But that's just a conventional kind of a rule. That's not the law that we're talking about. This is the law of being. It just is. It just is. And in this tremendous realm, beloved, into which God is bringing us, I trust that all of us are in this realm, then it's all in my law. Now nothing can go wrong with it. Nothing can go wrong. It's law. It can't be altered. Because it's God's law. And it's such a tremendous thing. And this is why, beloved, in so many realms we come so far short. Because we do not believe fundamentally that faith is law. In fact, we sometimes talk about faith as though it's a bit of a chancy business. We're not at all sure that it's really law. Amen. You know that there are laws of being in your body now. You just are a human being because the law has gone into action. You wouldn't even be here unless there was a biological law that governed your birth. Nobody made a law and said, let's all agree that you'll come into the world. Nobody did that. There's a biological law that just followed and knew the result. And there are laws of existence, beloved, while you're sitting there now. The law of mind. There's the law that governs the circulation of your blood. This is right. Isn't it? There's a law that we call gravity, that if you jump out of the window you'll hit the ground at the rate of 16 pounds of a square inch will go down. And you can't running about it. These are laws. This is law. You see, now in this same manner you are to understand that this isn't a law that God has framed. This isn't something that God has said as an ordination. This is something that God is. It's as inescapable as that. Have you ever considered faith in this manner? Now it's about time that all our hearts understood this and understood it plainly. Because this is the home ground upon which God has committed himself. In giving his son Jesus Christ, in crucifying him on that cross, in making the sacrifice for sin, God himself has instituted law for us that if we will accept this great truth and enter into this realm and come out of all the fantastic notions and ideas that we have that make us a hit or miss crowd, and we will get onto the basis of it must be because it's God, amen, then we'll start to get somewhere. Law is constitutional, not institutional. It is not instituted by God, it is constitutional in God. And in salvation this is the same thing. Let us see this working out in the scriptures. And when we turn to the fourth chapter, we come up to one of the great men of faith in the bible. He's a man called Abraham. Who you will remember had to wait until a woman named Sarah came to the same law of faith. And when she entered into mutual faith with Abraham, then the law just worked and there was Isaac. You understand? And it's as real as that. Which will show you whether you've really been in faith or whether you haven't. Show me too. Very clear, amen. Now let's have a look in this fourth chapter then. We see this in verses 15 and 16 that the whole truth of law is brought out. In 15 you have this, the law worketh wrong. That is the old mosaic which was an institutional law, a law that God instituted. The old mosaic law, you know, in the ten commandments, thou shalt not and so on and so on. It says that law worked wrong. Because that's right. Where no law is, there's no transgression. And as soon as we come up against a law we all transgress and that makes God angry. That's right, you see. That's the old legal system. God was always angry with people under the law. Always. I don't say he was angry with everybody, but he was. Yes, he was. This is why you find such terrific judgments came forth. For instance, when David just numbered the people, God was so angry with him he sent a terrific plague. What? Yes, that's right. He moved off the instituted law. That is that nobody was to be numbered unless they brought the half shekel to the sanctuary. People weren't to be numbered just because it was a king's vanity to know how many footmen and horsemen and charioteers he'd got. That was pride. And God judged pride like that. All was incurring wrong. The old Mosaic law, the instituted law. Now then, comes the other great law of faith. Listen. Therefore it is of faith, verse 16, that it might be by grace or to the end that the promise might be sure. Hallelujah. You see, God beloved in Christ has moved off instituted law which always in the end will bring to wrath. You see, and he's moved into a great big realm where the wrath of God was borne by Christ. The wrath of God against all sin for all mankind was borne by Christ. We shall never never know this cup that he shrank from in the garden what all was in it. But that he nevertheless drank that God could justifiably move to us without wrath. In grace, one law of faith, the constitutional law, took the place of the institutional law. Amen. And the Mosaic law went out. And the great new law came in. Amen. Now beloved, this simply means that I'm in the actual life of God. This means that somehow I can touch this great law. And because I touch that law, it will carry me through. It will take me there because the law is operative in me. Sometimes, you know, I've been down to the country seaside, at the seaside places on the coast. I usually avoid these type of places but sometimes I go there. For instance, somebody took me to a place called New Brighton. You might have heard of it. And I walked along the promenade and as I was walking along I saw on top of a high scaffolding a set of cars going up and down and up and down and up and down. As I say, I usually avoid those kind of seaside places. I usually like the nice coves and bays where there's nothing sophisticated. But the tremendousness about it is this, that people were in those cars and they got in those cars and as soon as the button was touched or the lever was pulled, the law took over. They only had to make the contact. They only had to contact the law that governed this thing called the up-and-down racer or scenic railway or whatever they want to call it. Something about mouse I think it is at New Brighton. And it just went. You say, electricity? Oh no, gravity did it. The first start, they just got a start and pulled them up the first incline and then the rest was done. Worked on laws of engineering, gravity, force and relationships of heights and slopes and it was all done by law. They were having a law ride. I hope they found it a joy ride. But the tremendous thing about it is that you and I have got to see this. We must see beloved, that it's like this with our great realm of the spirit. Amen. Glory. This is a wonderful thing. And yet if this be so, beloved, we ought all to say to ourselves then, how come that this condition's in me? For this is so. If this be law, is it that I've somehow been blinded to this great truth and instead of relying on the law, I've looked into myself. For instance, once the people got up that first incline, it was no good. They could all throw faints, they could all scream, shout, they could all turn double somersaults, they could all have nervous breakdowns, it didn't matter, the law would operate in disarray. Do you understand that? They could all sit in the back of the engine, sorry, the first coach, because it's not the engine, they could all do what they want. But the law had taken over and there was no stopping it. Glory. Have you got such an experience as that? Now if not, somehow you've missed it. You've looked into yourself, you've thought it was something in you, you've thought it was this, that or the other, there's nothing to do with that at all. It's to do, beloved, with the fact that somehow we've allowed all kinds of things to blind us to the basic truth of God, that God in Christ moved to us, not in a law written in tables of stone, not in a book. God didn't send a book, he sent his son, and the book's all about him. That's right, God came himself, and it's law, not the opposite. Hallelujah. Let's go on. Now you will know, beloved, if you look into this scripture in the fourth chapter here, we see this. Verse three, what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it, that act of believing, was counted to him for righteousness. Praise the name of the Lord. Look at nine, or look at eight. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. It's not a matter of what I feel like, or what I don't feel like, it's a matter of the law of God's will. Faith, if you like, is an extension of the irrevocable will of God to me. Amen. And who has ever bent God's will or broken it? He will not do it, praise God. So we're asking him to, he won't. He's fixed it through Calvary, glory be to God, he's fixed. It's a blessed thing when you can sing, my heart is fixed. But let's not come there too soon. And we go on and we see, cometh this blessedness, verse nine, upon the circumcision only, that is, the Jews, under the old Mosaic law, we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. That's what we say, glory be to God. Do you say this? If not, you'd better start talking like God does. Let's all get in this great big we. We said that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. Let's all say it, shall we? Come on. We say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. You've said the truth then, if ever you've said anything in your life. Glory be to God. Now let that seep down into the understanding of your spirit. That faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. And we are very pleased that the writers of the New Testament are swift to point out that this was a long time before God ever gave an institutional law to Moses, he brought a constitutional law to Abraham. Amen. Glory. And this far preceded anything else. Now let's go on, this time I want you to carry this truth into the tenth chapter. Oh bless God, this is a mighty treatise on faith, is this wonderful epistle. You let this beloved become truth and life in you, you soon leave all your troubles behind. Romans chapter 10. In the 10th chapter we read this, verse 4, Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. That's why he ended the law, so that righteousness might come to you. That's very wonderful. We all ought to be praising the Lord. He ended the law for righteousness to every one of us that believes. Hallelujah. Oh the righteousness of God you see. All right let's go on. Moses described the righteousness which is of the Lord, that the man which doeth those things shall live by them. That the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise. Now listen, you must get this true, this is a law. It happens without exception. When I went to school, my silly schoolmaster used to stand up and talk about exceptions that proved the law. There was a lot of nonsense expecting a child to believe, I never did believe it, I don't believe it to this day. There are no exceptions which prove the rule. If there are any exceptions it proves the rule's wrong. That's right the rule's a rule. Hallelujah. A law's a law. There aren't any aberrations in this law. None at all. Without exception this is how it works. Now if you haven't entered into this realm, you've never touched the law of faith, never in your life. Here it is, wherever this instant constitutional law of God's being works, it works like this. The righteousness which is of faith will soon see whether you have this righteousness, or whether you're dreaming you're righteous. Upon a series of texts that you've tucked away in your mind, here it is, the righteousness which is of faith speaketh. Now righteousness which is of this legal faith, in the right sense, it's not done, it speaks. You mustn't think that speaketh is an archaic word introduced to get an idea over. God is telling us truth. This isn't old-fashioned English, it's eternal truth. The righteousness which is of faith speaketh. That's why Jesus, who is our righteousness, is called the Word. God wasn't being stupid, and he wasn't archaic. Old-fashioned. Listen, the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise. Say not in thine heart. Now listen, this isn't me talking, this isn't Paul talking, except that Paul and I are repeating the truth in the spirit. It's God talking. The faith, if you come to this real faith, you've known something like this. Say not in thy heart. Who shall ascend into heaven? That is, to bring Christ down from above. In other words, it doesn't talk such blasphemous and near hellish notions. And neither does it say, who's going to descend into the deep? That is, to bring up Christ again from the dead. That is, if your heart talks like that, you're a complete atheist and an agnostic, and you don't know what faith is at all. You don't yet believe that Jesus Christ has actually come from heaven to redeem you from sin, and you don't really believe that he's risen from the dead. And you're an unsaved felon, and you're going to hell. It always works like this. Say not in thy heart. Don't say this in thy heart. But this is what it does. But what does it say? Now you'll soon know whether you've got this righteousness of faith about you. That is, whether or not you're a Christian. Listen. The word is nigh thee, it's in thy mouth, it's in thy heart. That is the faith which we preach. Glory. Now that's the faith we preach. If you don't know, if you say, now what's this faith that they're talking about? It's that. It's defined for you. The faith which we preach. It's in your mouth, and it's in your heart. And if it isn't there, you haven't got it. Glory. Amen. This is the law. God hasn't put the law up in heaven, a way out of grass. Of course it does function up there. He hasn't put it down in the pit, a way beyond our penetration. He hasn't tucked it away in obscure phraseology. He hasn't said scale Everest, and you can have it. He has said it's nigh you. It's in your mouth, and in your heart. This is the way that God works. He works this with every soul of man. He puts it there, in the heart, and in the mouth. He puts it there. That's where he puts it. He puts the beginning of it there. It's in you, whenever you come under the ministry of the spirit of the living God. Whenever you hear the word of the gospel, as it is given under heaven to be preached among men. It's in your heart, and in your mouth. It's not in the bible. It's not in heaven. It's not in the grave. It's not in history, except it's in all these things as well. But so far as you're concerned beloved, it's in your heart, and in your mouth. You know, I'm going to think about this, you haven't. You're not telling the truth. God's already put it in your heart. Now face it, you're a liar, and you'd better admit it. You've got to believe God. The trouble is that you won't. Making every excuse and saying you can't and all this. Well of course you can't. Of course you can't. If my two arms were strapped down to me for the next six months, and then you took the straps off, I wouldn't be able to use them. Why? Because I deliberately had them strapped down to my sides. I've gone against it, the truth. And this is what so many people have done. They've gone so consistently against the truth and revelation of God, that in the end, their arms are tied down. But listen, here's the great truth that God comes and he puts the word in your mouth and in your heart. Praise the name of the Lord. That's the purpose of all preaching, to put the words into your mouth. Oh glory. You see, isn't it wonderful? We'd better get some preachers then. It goes down this chapter and it says, how can they preach unless they're sent, you see. It's all tied up here. That's why there aren't many preachers about. Oh there'll be lots of sermons going on tonight. There aren't many preachers about. They don't put it in your heart and in your mouth. Amen. To preach the word of the Lord God, is the way he lives. Mutual faith. You see because the 17th verse says, how often we quote it, and we love it, that faith comes by hearing. Hearing by the word of God. And tonight, you're in this room, every one of us are here, and as sure as you listen, God will put faith in your heart, and then it'll be in your mouth, and you'll say it, and you'll believe it. Yes, that's it. Now, whether or not we are dealing with righteousness, that is with justification by faith, as it's called. Or whether we're dealing with other aspects of the Christian life, this is the rule that governs it. It's law. You cannot alter it. You must not wait till you feel something, neither must you be like a parrot and say something after somebody else, because that won't work. However well-meaning the other person may be, it's that God puts the thing in the heart. It's good if you can find somebody who can help you a bit to discover what's there. If you can get somebody that can help to show, can show you how stupid you've been. Enough moving in this realm before. Faith is a realm of movement. It is not what you believe, it is what you do. For instance, I'm doing something when I confess with my mouth. I'm doing something. The power of the spoken word, beloved, is absolutely infinite. This is true. Glory. I'm not advocating positive thinking or something like this. I'm not on that. I'm on the Bible. I grant you this isn't a book that I have in my hand, it's the book. And we're on the scripture of truth. I don't read these other books, so I don't know if you tell me all about them. I only decry these others because I've found so many people have gotten a mess through reading them. That's true. This is the law of God. The power of the uttered word, beloved, do you realize that this is how people get saved? By an uttered word to their heart. Something is said. It's a word of faith. That is, it comes from my believing heart. And it comes first from God. It comes to my believing heart. And I speak it, believing that what I say will happen. How about that? And you receive it. And you speak it. And you believe what you say will happen. Glory. You say, is it like that? Glory. Well, say anything you like. No, no. No, no. You can't say anything you like. The righteousness of faith speaks on this wise. You will notice it is positive. You will notice it is plain. You will notice that it is pointed. It isn't, and it doesn't say anything you like. Not the righteousness of faith. It isn't a lot of stupid talk. It is the word of God. Faith comes by hearing. Hearing by the word of God. God speaks and he grants an opening up of the soul to hear what he has to say. And when a soul receives the word of God, saying, Lord, this is for me, I receive it. Thank you. And it knows in itself that it's moving with purpose. It suddenly comes under the power of God. And God works this thing in the life. And it's a tremendous and glorious truth. Oh, hallelujah. It's a wonderful thing to believe God. You're in the realm where nothing can go wrong. You're in the realm where exactly what God says will take place in your life. And you must believe exactly what God says. Faith is designed to bring you out of what you think and what you say. It is a law whereby God proposes to translate you from one world into another in the spirit. It is a law whereby, it is the law whereby you deliberately come to an end of your feelings, your thinkings, your reasonings, your self, your world, your excuses, your lies, your fears, your doubts, your horrors, and you deliberately believe God. It is designed to bring you out of yourself and off the ground of self altogether onto the being of God, onto the ground of eternal truth. Out of the realm where law has been interfered with and broken, into the realm where law never was broken. That is into the being of God, the constitutional being of the crown spirit. Where everything goes on as it was from the beginning and before the beginning and is now and ever shall be. It's designed this faith to bring you onto this, not just onto Calvary ground as precious as it is, but by a Calvary ground into God. All right? That's what faith is, it's law. Have you ever experienced true faith? Think now, you might not have heard somebody talking like me before, that's not the important thing. I'm only here to get you to focus this thing through and know forevermore from this moment the way you've got to move. Laws operated a long time before the Rutherfords and the Galleos and that discovered them. They were all there, all there. Long before Leonardo da Vinci discovered engineering laws and laws of flight, they were all there. You only discover them, praise God. Long before they discovered that a magnetized needle could point to the magnetic north pole, it was always there. That's why they discovered it. Now this is true in the things of the spirit. They're there, God's only bringing you into the eternal things. Do you want them or don't you? Do you want the transitory thoughts and feelings and objections and noxious notions of your own heart? Do you want your sins? Do you want your fallings? Do you want your failings? Do you want your having no glory? Do you want the world? Do you want yourself? What do you want? Here is a law that can bring you into everything that's eternal and it's by faith so that it might be by grace and God is displaying his tremendous grace to you by this wonderful law of glory. Unlimited experiences of this self of God, this total, this sum of love and blessing and goodness and forgiveness and gentleness and tenderness and power and glory and I could, I could expel the superlatives and run out of them all and come off the ground a factual statement because God is beyond factual statements. There is a realm where the law starts to operate as you think of the giant racer again and you hold up the first incline and you're gone, you're gone. Praise the name of God and I'm not merely exploiting an idea I'm telling you the facts of my life. I'm not preaching a biblical thing so much as expounding to you a subjective thing that I have discovered. Of course it was in the bible before I discovered it, my name's only North. But the tremendous thing about it beloved is that it's here and it's here for us and you've got to change your ground if you haven't got here, you've got to come off all the things you've been calling faith, you've got to shift. This will explain your failure, this will explain your state, this will explain all this thing about this why you haven't been able to live this life, you haven't yet got under the law. You don't know if you like how it works. Amen. For instance, now if we wanted light in this building if I keep on preaching till 10 o'clock never put our 8 p.m law up out of order wouldn't it? If I keep preaching to 10 o'clock and we wanted light in this building somebody would only have to put their fingers onto the switch and there would be light. But that doesn't mean so they don't understand what electricity is. They haven't discovered the law of electricity but they just, that's like so many people they put their fingers up if something happens but you've got to discover the law. You're not asked to be an electrical engineer beloved but you're asked to believe god and read this book of yours and get to know so that you may you may move in this realm. This will bring you out of belief, this will bring you out of trying and failing, this will bring you out of your repetitive attempts and never reaching the end. This will bring you, if you like, into the car that just keeps going on the giant racer. This is the truth. Now as we have said this is something which we've got to see and see clearly. In the 14th chapter, by the way those of us who were together last night we were talking a little around things touching this and I said that a certain reference was in James. A little bell rang in the back of my mind when I said it but and I thought well that's not true and I somebody asked me this morning it isn't in James it's in this 14th chapter of Romans. Here it is verse 22. Hast thou faith? Have it to thyself. Here you are. Have this law to thyself. Oh glory. Just gotta die. Oh glory. Yeah. Hast thou faith? Have it to thyself. Make sure this law operates in your life. So many people think they know what other people should be believing and doing. They want to be preaching to them and at them and explaining things to them and all that. Have it to thyself brother and sister. Have it to thyself. Have faith to thyself. Glory. This is the thing that's in the scripture. Hast thou faith Abraham? Have it to thyself. Here he is. You know the old story. I love it. It springs up before my heart unasked always. That old man being led out in the night time to look at the stars you see. Like that Abraham. Thy seed and he hadn't got one and God was pointing to millions. He hadn't got one. He had a ghost of a chance of one. He says like that Abraham. Have you got faith now Abraham? Whatever you do have it to thyself man. You'll never read that Abraham went back and tried to convert Sarah to it. You'll never read that Abraham said one word to Sarah to try and make her receive his faith. Did he? Read your Genesis and see. He had it to himself. Unknown. The only man on the earth. But he had it and all this nonsense about you living a modern age and people don't believe it and they're going all worldly and all this nonsense. You're making excuses you don't intend to be true. You don't intend to be true. You need a new heart. You need God to make you all over again. You don't intend it. Oh but my wife well didn't Abraham have a wife? The dead one too. So the Bible says in this respect. Hallelujah. He believed God. He had it to himself and praise the Lord there came a time when Sarah had it to herself too. And then mutual faith operated and it was wonderful. But the greatness of this beloved lies here. This will explain many things. There are so many people trying to put over their faith to other people. This is how I do it you see. And I tell you what if you walk out under heaven tonight when the stars shine. Lord I believe you. And you stop up till the till the moon rises and then the sun rises. Good I bet you won't have it. You can't do copies. Every one of us is dealt with as an individual. Every one of us is loved personally. Every one of us has to contract with God on this basis of the faith law on the things he speaks to your heart. I believe you Lord. And that faith and we say it Abraham's faith was reckoned to him for righteousness. Glory be to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And now how much more we who can have the faith of Jesus Christ reckoned to us for righteousness who could have the perfections and glories of God himself reckoned to us as our righteousness. How much more shame ought to fill our hearts if we with these glorious privileges cannot go through and believe God and these laws function in our lives. Shame should cover us. We kneel you across the mountains to fall on us and hide us in our shame if it wasn't that God didn't love us and faith is in operation think that he might be gracious to us anyway. For God has been manifest in Christ. This man through this man of grace was the sum total of perfect law. This is what made him so powerful. I know. I know. I know. You see you know realms in which you know that if you do a certain thing biological laws for instance you know that if you act in biological laws there will be certain results are enough. And how much more in this great realm of the spirit there will be results if you act in a certain manner out of all this dithering and nonsense and up and down and try to get a verse out of Genesis and a verse out of Revelation and and go to some sorry chap to get a to get a prophecy or something of this nature and you move in the realm of law move in the realm of law where it must happen. God's committed himself it must or else God's not God. It's this that made the Lord say we've been here before in Luke 17 don't you even turn to it verse 5 if you had faith as a grain of mustard seed you should say to this mountain be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and it would obey you. It works that mountain works on the law of faith. It's there by faith. God created the world by faith. The mountain is there by faith and if you touch the faith law it will operate all right. How about that mountain of sin in your life? How about that mountain of unbelief? All these squeals and cries and all these things of a constant arising. An old man he's 88 gave us the joy of entertaining him what I say us I mean I happen to live in the same house our dear brother Bob Bob Love and his wife they graciously count me in on many things we entertain this old man 88 and uh I don't know where I've been somewhere down there I think when I came back there was a paper up on our sideboard or somewhere upstairs and it was a copy of a hymn from the WIC hymn book he thought perhaps I didn't know it but uh I know a little bit about WIC things and uh it's this wonderful hymn about faith you know when mountain walls obstruct my way do you know it that's right do you know that hymn well whatever you do get hold of you get hold of that hymn Wesley didn't write it but it's a good one it's one of the rare good ones and it's a tremendous one and it speaks about this mountain and a man of faith saying to it arise depart faith bids thee go that's right do you know why the Lord Wars of Jericho fell down said well they walked around it and they yeah that's right but they didn't they fell down on the law of faith they touched the faithful now they touched the law of faith they all fell up with all those walls every brick in its place they all fell down and they just marched up on a raised platform called the wall and went everyone straight before them and into the city never stumbled over it all just fell down the law worked glory be to the name of God and they went in you know why they touched the faithful and you know why they touched the faithful because they did exactly what God said they came out of themselves they came out of their ideas they came out of their doubts and misgivings they came out of their feelings they got onto God you must come out of yourselves completely you must not believe that lying voice you must not do that you must believe God and not only secretly believe him you're not believing him unless you confessedly believe him amen this is strong you gotta take it to your heart I know people who've been asked for prayer and afterwards they said well I've tried that they've never believed nothing's happened they've wasted a man's time to get him to pray with them that's what they've done if they've just tried it you don't try anything this is law you've got to see it this way don't tamper with it if you don't have any want to have anything to do with it if you want dynamic power and life if you want righteousness that doesn't wilt and wear away at the first glare of sin if you want something that's virile and powerful something that keeps God God and will keep you a saint then get on the law glory be to God can you see it oh I I push this bible in your heart if you if you'll open it this is the truth this governs in every realm let's go back into the 12th chapter it's getting very hot I shall have to roll the seat up now if you don't mind into the 12th chapter and in the 12th glorious chapter of this book you will find this wonderful revelation of getting onto the altar of God and in verse three I say through the grace given unto me to every man that is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think but to think soberly according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith now then faith has got to be such a tremendous law in you that you're going to think faith now oh but I so easily think stuff that they say in our office or I so easily think the stuff do you oh lord have you ever realized that this is such a takeover from God such a takeover from God a definite alteration in a deliberate one of the laws that govern your being spiritually and morally don't you realize this God makes you into God's son the laws that govern his being will govern yours so well well by faith well precisely that's what I'm saying I'm preaching to that that's just what I am doing that you're to think according to this great measure of faith that God has given you soberly squarely don't go highty toighty flighty up there thinking great dreaming away up there that's not what you're to think you're to think soberly down on this level that is by daily habit because I hope that you're habitually sober and that you you you move in this knowledge of I think what God can do for me I think of God's power I think along the line of this I think right this is what I referred to the other day when I said I don't think as you learn to come into the spirit you will find that spontaneously the mind of the spirit will rise within you and thinking will become an easy progression of the spirit through the truth of God it won't become a laborious slugging away tying you up into migraines or something the tremendous thing about this is this operation of the law God in your life all right you won't get there until you're utterly sacrificed under God that's why he starts this chapter by saying you must offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God so that God can work his will and do what he wants in you and the laws of God I've sacrificed all my life Lord unto thee unto thy life I've let it all go I want my life to be a demonstration and outworking of the law of God in me this great Lord I shall be a man of grace then and a man of faith and I go yet further down in this great chapter and I get to verse um six having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us where a prophecy let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith minister according to the proportion of faith love according to faith sheep you don't know that this love is a faith love do you do you think it's something that sort of exudes out of you and and all this sort of idea now that you've got a love by faith oh well you see now you immediately you're all mixed up well love is something that I thought I was you see in all this business but I want to tell you beloved you're no more love than you are faith all right understand that that's true that is true and and you minister in this realm by faith that is I don't look at anybody and have to say no I think I could love this person oh I believe I could really believe I could no it's when these great things really are the law of your being and it just all happens naturally just like my blood is going around my body now and until I mentioned it I wasn't even thinking about it it was so natural it's law of being but we've never thought of it as law have we no blessed be the name of the lord jesus christ it's law and it's faith beloved that governs the operation of the gift if you move out of faith in some gift that you have it's just chaff it's just nothing beloved it is important for you to be in the most excellent way of love to be in the lord faith in this great realm faith works by love hallelujah and it becomes a spontaneous thing in my heart hallelujah let the lord beloved lead us into all these things now you can move into this realm you can leave move out of the punch of flesh and spirit hit and miss hot and cold up and down in and out your guess is as good as mine open the bible try to abstract a promise or something like this beloved beloved let's stop this chance this is law it's law oh god I see this but if you're going to come into this realm and you've never really been in it and you know you haven't then this is how it starts you've heard the word of god and faith comes to your heart god grants you hearing that's your opportunity to open your heart to the thing you hear act on it confess with your mouth believe in your heart doesn't say testify with your mouth it says confess most confession in the beginning is done with a sense of shame but it's always done with a sense of conviction this is true when you confess you're joining your lot you're joining yourself up with the fools and the idiots on the earth according to science according to men according to everything so it's a bit of a confession you're linking up with a person like me for instance other people especially jesus christ and he was crucified as a criminal oh you you better you better consider it well but you better confess it I believe god and the devil comes and says you're a fool right somebody else in the person you live with perhaps say oh well we'll see you see but that doesn't make any difference it's recognition that you're alone places you've got to shut yourself up in your room say lord i know this is right i know this is right and this thing my beloved brothers and sisters will be manifesting faith comes by hearing by the word of god and faith in itself is a righteous thing if you want to stockpile righteousness then beloved go ahead on the righteousness which is of faith amen you're on the whole the basis of the perfect glory of god here lord when you've no evidence when you've no proofs when you've no manifestation when you've no exterior knowledge when you can guarantee nothing when nobody is with you when you're in the darkest midnight see this you confess the truth you've given a lead to the spirit of god he's come to you you can either stop in there dead in your heart or you can open your mouth and then go through and you'll get someone else someone else's ears will hear you somebody will hear the confession chiefly god somebody else will find the way of faith somebody else will understand the movings of the spirit of god but we all confess our hopes we all confess our hesitations we all confesses confesses confess what i believe souls instead of confessing it is so i had to know god said it god said it to me i have it and it is so that's right oh no i can't see it you're yourself no god said it first of all you have to establish god in the eyes of everybody and especially in the eyes of your own heart as righteous that his word is truth doesn't matter what you are or what you think or what you feel that's got little or nothing to do with it now this is putting god first this is making god god this is doing what it says in romans 3 listen this is what it what it says in romans 3 in verse 4 yay let god be true and every man alive that's right my feelings are lies that is the sense feelings they're not true it's what god says is true do you not see beloved that god is extending to you this opportunity of coming out of all the degrading laws that operate inside you and every law is a degrading law if it denies or abnegates god's word in your life and you move on to this tremendous realm let god be true you see this is where it came from in paul he said this let god be true and every man alive and you'll find that he he he's only doing what another great man before him has said let god be true all glory let god be true in me don't matter if i die lord let it be true oh but that's the thing i don't want to die i don't well you see there you are i doubt whether you're prepared to move into this realm of faith you see abram was dead when god came and spoke to him sarah was dead in this realm they were in this deadness of the of of of the realm that you name the same deadness that you're in listen it's called the realm of impossibility that's deadness this cannot be god faith bids thee start arise depart beyond the sea glory i believe the evil god knows when you believe him god knows when you believe him and so do all the glorious beings in heaven and so will all the hellish fiends on earth or anywhere else when you believe god but it's an action remember that faith is always action if you know well i believe it in my heart and you don't tell anybody or you get your closest friend someday and you're whispering away you're not on this realm you haven't seen your eyes aren't open god wants it confessed so that it can be written in a book all the world will see that's right your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world you see have you got the idea this sham christianity that you want this praying saint making your way after yourself every time because you don't really believe it laying your cards very carefully so that you can put the blame back on god saying oh no what god's fault must have been me but god says it's a law and it operates now either you've got to believe the truth or you've not got to believe i can but listen it doesn't come through the vaporizings of a man called a preacher it's when the word of faith from god comes to your heart that's the ground you must move on not an american book or an english one but god's book not the truth can't be found on the pages of many of these at all so i'm telling you it doesn't lie there it lies in this that god speaks to your heart and mutual faith you'll always find when the faith of god's in operation in engender space in other people's hearts they believe they seek they find liberty to move glory be to the name of the lord and you can move to not i want to tell you as soon as you start to move in faith listen now and weigh it up well you're moving to an altar as soon as abraham moved in faith he was moving to an altar called mariah that's right and if you leave romans 12 out of your reckoning if you're just wanting sort of feeling a little better than you do or something like that so you'll exercise faith for it if you haven't got the altar in you you've missed the revelation of scripture you faith is a law that's consistent with the altar faith is a law that will draw you onto the cross faith is a law that brings you bad calvary into god faith is a law that goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on praise god i labored up the first incline but i've found it's been freewheeling to more and more and more and every rise i find i find gives me impetus to take the next go to a mountain and i will tell you take thy son isaac offering there upon a mountain that i will show thee this is the tremendousness of it all beloved have you known this about faith i think i'm going to finish it's a law beloved as surely as you touch this law god will do this thing you're prepared to believe it you're prepared to say well apparently then i haven't touched this lord lord on this thing before that's right it's god that's true let all your former testament is belies if necessary it's god's the true god that's true you you see it's very humbling this it's it's applies calvary like a sledgehammer to all this pride of ours yes it does it's no good glory be to god calvaries and everything god says amen and it's true it brings us to the place where we say yes lord you're true glory be to your name all these scriptures i've eaten up and clung to promises and all the props i've gotten this that and the other it's you that's true you mustn't try and work your own way through the promises of god you've got to touch the law that's right it's a faith that it may be by grace that the promise may be sure to all us see how about that this is the bible this is the truth this is god's glory and excellence he is a faith god and the spirit of god if i may use this phrase will circulate you in the being of god this night by the law of eternal existence in the ever blessed one bring you into all the benefits of the calvary of the sun he'll bring you into all the power of the baptism of the spirit he'll bring you into all the glorious satisfaction of the father amen god should be all in all start beloved put your foot down right now get on to the word of faith that's being spoken to your heart speak it back to god go on go on don't kid yourself don't get a whip there's nothing in this god didn't take a whip to abraham it's pharaoh's past martyrs that use whips he just called him in his heart that man of god felt a blessed response it was like being taken up on the wings of an angel and he found himself going outside his tent looking and it was all true blessed be the name of the lord i i feel we should pray glory to thy name praise thee now father we just move on in this great amen truth we remain and abide and yet we walk lord amen go on just want to serve thee no we cannot serve thee at all except their flow from us these rivers hallelujah here we rest in contentment bless thy name oh lord the service is quite unconscious really the real content of it and we bless it jesus bless one another we love and thank thee the lord this day should be a pleasure to be amen in the inheritance in jesus name amen and the grace so
