Hast thou not known, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There's no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might, he increases strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint. We welcome you to On Eagle's Wings, a revival ministry for the local church. We especially have a burden and a concern for the pastor. As I was reading, did you notice it says that he giveth power to the faint? And then at the end of verse 31 of Isaiah 40, it says, and they shall walk and not faint. This ministry is to encourage you in your walk in Jesus Christ, and also if you haven't received Christ, we'd like to encourage you to receive Jesus as your Savior. He came to die on the cross for you. He paid the price for your sins and offers pardon fully if you will receive him. Repent of your sins and receive Jesus. Well, we've been in the last few weeks having some interviews with Max Chaney. We're going to have our last one today, and I trust that these have been a real encouragement to you. I'd like to encourage you pastors to get a hold of me, to write me if you need help. I'd like to hear from you. I'm in this area and have the opportunity to minister with you, either personally or come to minister in your church. And if you'd like to have Max come, you write us, and we'd just love to make some contact with you. Our mailing address is on Eagle's Wings, Box 1100, Webb City, Missouri, 64870. And I'll try to give you that again before the program's off today. Well, how's your week been? Was it like a bear chasing you around through the woods? You feel all wore out? And Sunday comes around, and I hope your Sunday mornings aren't one of these hectic mornings. I know sometimes ours get a little wild with five children to get ready for church. But a lot of that starts Saturday night. I know for years my Sunday started Saturday night, and I tried not to be out anywhere Saturday nights so we would have a more restful time Sunday morning. Well, we've been sharing with you a little bit off and on about revival, and last time I don't think I had any time to share with you about Jonathan Edwards. But did you know that when the revival hit in Northampton that it affected the whole town? The congregation was alive in God's service, and Jonathan said, and everyone earnestly intent on the public worship. Every hearer was eager to drink in the words of the minister as they came from his mouth. The assembly in general were from time to time in tears while the word was preached. Our public praises were greatly enlivened. Oh, and he said the effects of God's blessings quickly spilled over into the community. Never, I believe, was so much done in confessing and injuries and making up of differences as the last year. And he said the tavern was soon empty, and people had done with their old quarrels, backbiting and intermingling with other men's matters. The Northampton revival laid the groundwork for the great awakening of 1740 to 1741, and Edwards' warnings of God's certain judgment caused godly sorrow over sin. Well, we need to see some local revivals break out, and by revival I'm not talking about just evangelistic services. I'm talking about a brokenness over sin, and it starts on the personal level. You just draw a circle with you in it and say, God, deal with the man, deal with the woman, deal with the boy, deal with the girl that's inside of this circle, and be thorough with me. Be thorough with me. Well, in that great awakening, hundreds of thousands were converted. Do you know that? And comforted when they responded to the word of God and repented of their ungodly ways. I don't know if the church is ready for that. This is why we need to see revival in our local churches. Well, we're here to minister. We're a revival ministry. I listen to a lot of radio shows, Christian radio shows, and I haven't heard one yet that was just solely for revival. We need it in our land. We need it in our homes. I've been thinking about maybe in the next few weeks having something for the youth, the teenagers. When I've been in some crusades, we've had some special emphasis for the youth. If you're a teenager or a college person, and you're listening, and you're struggling, and life is hard, and I know that you've got some problems, let me encourage you to find the Lord Jesus Christ as all you need. The book of Colossians talks about Christ being all and in all. Is He all to you, and is He in all you do? Or is there a lot of self and selfishness and seeking your own pleasures and ways, and then you try to throw God in? A little bit of time here for God and a little bit of time there. Well, that doesn't cut it. He is to be Lord of every area, every moment, every secret in your life. Is He the Lord of your thought life? What about your reading? What about your language? What about your hobbies? Is there something there that He does not have pleasure in? Are you ready for Him to come and take you right now? Revival will bring you to the state to where you're ready right now. Is your church ready to stand before the judgment seat of Christ, Pastor? Is your church ready? One of the barometers of the spiritual atmosphere in the church is the willingness and the frequency of the people to pray together. Even when they meet on the street, they might tuck away somewhere and have some prayer time. I know I've seen this up in our area, especially with another pastor that joined me. We just craved our times to meet. We would even sometimes, since we live 15 miles away, meet out in the middle, out in the country, out in the fields, and walk up and down the old country road and pray late at night. Well, let God do what He needs to do in your life. Well, we're going to have a song, and then we're going to get into our last interview with Max Cheney. And we trust that God will use these interviews to speak to you about needs in your life. We're not really interested in just preaching at you or to you. We're interested in the Lord Jesus Christ being glorified in your life completely and in ours. And we're here to minister. This is a ministry. You need to be in a local church that's preaching the Word of God. We're not a substitute. I don't think any TV program or radio program should be a substitute for your worship services unless you can't make it. And there's a lot of folks out there that can't make it. But if you can make it, you need to find a local church that's preaching the Word of God. Sure, they're not perfect, but you'll fit in because you're not perfect either. Well, it's good to have Max Cheney back with us again today. And Max, you shared your testimony, how God had met you in revival. And you're sharing your prayer seminar now around the country. And I know you'd like to share some things with us about that prayer seminar. And I'd like to get you into the Joplin area and maybe even around this area as this radio station reaches around the area. What's God been speaking to your heart about in this area? Concerning prayer, Don, I'm convinced more all the time as we have traveled these past 10 years in Canada and the States, meeting many different pastors, many different churches and situations, seeing this, witnessing how God is working in those hearts and lives where there's such great needs. I'm convinced more and more that we need prayer and much more prayer. Earnest, fervent prayer. You know, in Mark 11, 25, it says, And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any, that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. You know, there's a lot of empty praying today. There are many who are on a vicious treadmill. I'm not criticizing the fact that they pray. Praise the Lord, they have a desire to pray. But you know, many times we pray doubting. If we would pray in faith believing, we would see answers to our prayers. We have to agree with God. We must believe, as Jesus said in Mark 11, we must believe in God and we must believe that we're going to receive those things we ask for. We see that again in Hebrews 11, 6. That's what pleases God. Faith that believes that God not only is, but He's a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. And we see in this that there needs to be getting thoroughly right with God. We've mentioned this before. If we pray and do not believe that God has forgiven us, we'll never have real peace in our hearts. We must believe Him. We challenge the people, when you pray and ask forgiveness for sin, as we work in the prayer room with many on an individual basis or corporately, we must thank Him. If we do not thank Him when we've asked forgiveness for bitterness we've had in our heart, then we don't believe that we really have it. And we're not at peace with God. We're not at peace with one another. There must, first of all, be the vertical relationship taken care of. We believe God for forgiveness because He's faithful and just to forgive us, 1 John 1, 9, when we confess our sins. And so we need to thank Him. Thank you, Lord, for forgiving me the bitterness. Thank you for taking that load from my heart. And then, as we deal with the self-life, we need to thank Him there. As I mentioned before in 1 Thessalonians 5, 16-18, verse 18, we're to be thankful, giving thanks. And we need to do that. When we deal with the self-life, reckon ourselves dead to that bitterness we had towards an individual or that pride, whatever the sin was that we was dealing with, thank the Lord for delivering us from the bondage of self. Self was trying to take care of it our way. And when we reckon ourselves dead to our own desires, I'm going to do it God's way. Lord, I want you to be Lord. I want you to be Master of everything. And then, thank you, Lord, for delivering me from the bondage of self. He has delivered. He doth deliver. He will yet deliver, as Paul said. And it's true. We need to thank Him. And then, when we deal with the need for the filling of the Spirit of God, it's a command to be filled. It's not an option. We can't please God without a filling and empowering of the Spirit of God, without His control in our lives. And so, when we pray for that filling and empowering of the Spirit of God, in obedience, after we've dealt with the sin and with the self-life, in faith-believing, then thank Him for His filling. In Luke 11, 13, it says, If ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more should your Heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to those who ask? He's pleased to give us the Holy Ghost, to give us the power and filling and empowering of the Holy Spirit, when we ask. In Acts 5, 32, it says, He gives to those who obey Him. He gives the filling of the Holy Spirit. So, there must be obedience. As we pray, we must not have anything in our hearts between one another. And then we can pray in faith-believing. John said in 1 John 3, 22, Whatsoever we ask, we receive, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. Again, in 1 John 5, 14 and 15. This is the confidence that we have in Him. If we ask anything according to His will, we know He hears us. Whatever we ask, we receive of Him again. So, praise the Lord. In our prayer seminar, we challenge folks to deal honestly with sin in their lives. We deal with a number of areas. It's an eight-hour seminar, and we deal with all sorts of things. Motivation for praying, a vision, sharing our own personal testimony, challenge them to have a vision for what God can do as we pray. As we talked about Romania, about China and other places, what can He do here in America? What can He do in my own home? And what has He done? He's done marvelous things in our own family, and in many other families. Now, as we allow Christ to flow out of our life instead of self, then they're blessed. They're drawn to Him to get thoroughly right with Him. And so, it just keeps on spreading. We deal specifically, at one point, with obstacles to prayer. And we deal with 15 sins there. Not that there aren't many more. We know that doesn't cover the whole list. We could go on and on. But we deal with specific areas like bitterness, pride, and a critical spirit, gossip, and these sort of things. When we've dealt with these sins, and stinginess, unforgiveness, an unforgiving spirit, all of these things raise havoc in the church and in the individual life. And we need to get right with the Lord. And at that point, then we let the people go off by themselves and deal with whatever God's speaking to their heart about, up to this point in the seminar. And then we have them come back and share their testimony. And it's interesting. The last prayer seminar we had, everyone came back. We had a small group, but sometimes it's good to have a small group. I'm convinced of that. Sometimes we let numbers get in the way, and think we could have a tremendous crowd. Well, that'd be super if we could have that. But praise God for those who came. And everyone dealt with something in their life and came and shared their testimony. And while we were sharing the testimony, a young man came in and got smitten with conviction as he entered the door and went right to the prayer room, never did sit in on the testimonies. Dealt with sin in his own life, and we had an opportunity to talk to him later, and he shared the testimony of all the things God was dealing with him about. It was just marvelous time to see how God works when we're willing to humble ourselves before the Lord, and we just want to be thoroughly right with God, and then share it. Give Him the glory. Oh, it just flows out to others. Well, Max, I was just thinking, why don't you share with us, I know this is just right off the top, we haven't planned out hardly anything on this program, but as you've seen people give testimonies of how God's worked in their life, what's a situation, a church situation, that comes to your mind where God just really moved in in a powerful way and people began to get right with God? What's a situation you can think of right off the top of your head? I remember a church out in western Nebraska where there was such a turmoil in hearts, and they cried out to Brother John Musser, we were traveling with him at that time, which we traveled for about two and a half years with Brother John from Muskegon, Michigan, Gospel Revival Ministries, and we were into the meetings on a Thursday night, and it was just, as I say, kind of an explosive situation. As they expressed it themselves, we have to get right with God, we need to have you come, we're desperate, and you know the situation I'm talking about. And on a Thursday night, a lady got up and shared a testimony of bitterness in the heart and unforgiving spirit, and we started at seven, and this provoked other testimonies and brokenness, but this lady was set free at that particular time. And others came up and shared their testimony of how they'd had bondage, one for twenty years, of bitterness in the heart because of a situation that had occurred at that time, getting rid of a pastor in the wrong manner, and we wound up at twelve o'clock, not dull but sharp, you know. We just had a beautiful time, a brokenness before God, and folks didn't want to go home after five hours. And you know, we think folks are watching the watch, you know, if you get close to the hour even. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I was just thinking about that, watching the watch, because after Revival, the men in our church up there in Gordon, Nebraska, we began to get in trouble because we prayed so long we didn't want to quit. And the women, of course, they'd pray, but they had the little ones. And my wife would say, why don't you take the kids? And the little ones would be getting tired and ready to go home. But the thing that happened out there in Nebraska, and we see it in other parts of the country, it happens not because it just happens, but because of prayer. We learn how to pray. We learn how to get back to prayer. And that's why this prayer seminar is so powerful and so key. We have so structured our lives to where we won't give God time. Our prayer meetings Wednesday nights are pretty much a cut and dry affair, and we're there at seven and out at eight, and we've given our nod to God, but we really haven't prayed so many times. And we need to learn to pray again. We've just so structured ourselves. We've got plenty of time for ourselves, but so little time for God. Well, what else comes to your mind in this area, since this is our last interview? Okay. Something else, as you're sharing here, Don, and you mentioned about the situation with the little ones, it's not longevity of prayer that makes it powerful. Yeah. I've heard a very brief prayer, two or three sentences, that was more powerful than any other prayer I heard. I heard a little girl praying in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She prayed, and I let her pray intentionally before the men started praying because some went all around the world, and one was in a particular habit of doing that. And so I let little Alicia pray first, Don. And when she prayed, it just broke the rest of us. We were in tears. A simple prayer from that little child, 10-year-old, just broke our hearts. And it was so mature, the prayer that she prayed, but a very simple prayer. And the rest of us wept as we prayed. And the one who prayed such a long prayer before didn't have so much to say this time, Don. God just broke many hearts. So there has to be balance, and that's what you're touching on. Well, I know in public that I've learned over my many years in ministry it's best to pray short in prayer. And then if you get together with someone... I know in our situation the men just had such a craving to pray together because they were off and life was hard, and it was something we had to learn to deal with. Well, the wives were up there waiting with the kids, but it is best to pray short prayers in public. But when you can get together and say, now we've got time, let's just spend some time in prayer, that's good. And this prayer seminar gives some ideas and concepts in the practical areas, too. Well, Max, in the last few minutes, we've got a couple or three more minutes here or so, what's on your heart? What would you like to just share with the folks that are listening? I know there's a lot of folks listening, and maybe some struggling pastors that are really, as you were, as you shared in your testimony, you were just going to drive a truck or whatever. You just wanted to serve the Lord, but there was something missing. You got anything else, a final word? Because of what God is doing in our hearts and lives these days, Don, and in the prayer seminar, as we travel the country, and hearing the testimony in other lives, and seeing what God's putting together, I wouldn't get out for anything, Don. It's the most exciting ministry, whatever God has called us to, it's a ministry. And we were so encouraged, even last night, do you remember the pastor here at the church there in Bentonville talked about seven attitudes or positions of prayer? And that's interesting, because we just came from Little Rock, and the pastor we heard on Sunday there was talking about revival. And we see four people get up and share a testimony of God's working in their lives, convicting them, the power of the Holy Spirit right there. And prior to that, traveling, listening to a tape, and our hearts were deeply challenged. A man from Jamaica that God had used, Ernest Clark, to mightily stir our hearts. And so everywhere we go, and of course, when your attention is focused on God, then you tune in on these things. You're more sensitive. We're sensitive to His presence, His power in our lives. We're sensitive to His Word, and to be obedient to it. We're sensitive to the needs of others. We're sensitive to sin in our lives. And we learn to hate sin. We hate the things that God hates. We love the object that God loves. And God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Oh, I'll tell you. We need revival, as Brother Warren Worsby said, because we haven't been honoring God and bringing Him the glory He deserves. When God is not glorified, everything else goes wrong. Revival deals with causes, not the symptoms. Revival is radical. It goes to the very roots. And when we deal with the roots, Brother Alcester uses an illustration overhead with the tree. And the root is pride. The root sin is pride. And in all these other things, critical spirit, judgmental attitude, are as a result. And to deal with the root sin in our lives. And when we confess and forsake our sins, He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When we reckon ourselves dead to our own desires and alive unto God's desires, then we're set free from the bondage of self. And then free to be filled gloriously with His Holy Spirit. And God will be glorified as Christ is lifted up in our lives. And sinners will be drawn to the Savior. Oh, folks, it's exciting to pray in agreement with God. To intercede and see obstacles come down. I see mountains of obstacles come down in the lives of individuals, in corporate body, and to see God move in a worldwide ministry. And God is doing that today. One has said, what the church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use. Men of prayer. The Holy Ghost does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men, men of prayer. It's not great talents or great learning or great preaching that God needs, but men great in holiness, great in faith, great in love, great in fidelity, great for God. Men always preaching by the holy sermons in the pulpit, but holy lives out of it. These can mold a generation for God. Brother E.M. Bounds has shared with us. Don, I want to share a portion of scripture real quick out of Hebrews 12. Wherefore, seeing we also are encompassed with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Thank you for the privilege to be with you and to share these truths. We just want to lift up the Lord Jesus Christ and may God bless you real good. Well, Max, thanks for being with us. It's been a real privilege for us. Well, I trust these interviews with Max Cheney have really challenged you. If you'd like to get a hold of us, you write to us here at Box 1100 Web City, MO 64870. If your church is without a pastor and you'd like to have an interim pastor, either myself, I'm Don Corville, or either Max Cheney, we're open to come in and spend a few weeks or months with you and just minister or pulpit supply. If you need somebody to fill in, you get a hold of us. You can just write to us here at Box 1100 Web City, MO 64870. And we'd just love to minister to you. Some of the things Max said can really be challenging. We have such great needs, he said. And if you need a prayer specialist to come in, Max is a man that specializes in this area. Well, the obstacles to prayer that he shares are powerful, can really cleanse your church or cleanse your life even. Such a blessing to know the Lord Jesus and to walk with Him. Such a burden to be under the bondage of living to yourself. And we trust that God will use this program to lift you up, to bear you on eagle's wings. We're here to minister to you. You write us if we can help you. Until next time, may God richly bless you, my friend.
