Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the sanctity of life and the belief that every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made by God. He highlights the fact that God knows and plans for each person even before they are formed in the womb. The preacher also condemns the act of abortion, stating that it is an atrocity and goes against God's commandments. He references biblical passages, such as Jeremiah 19, to warn of the consequences that come with shedding innocent blood. Additionally, the preacher mentions the encounter between Mary and Elizabeth, where the baby in Elizabeth's womb leaped for joy at the presence of Jesus in Mary's womb, further emphasizing the value of unborn life.
Sermon Transcription
For you formed my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My frame was unhidden from you when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body, in your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. January 22nd, 1973, this nation has been awash in the blood of its children. In thirty years, more than forty million children have been wiped right off the face of history. Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you, and before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you. Before your mother ever knew that you were there, God knew you were there. Before she ever felt you kick the first time in her belly, God knew you were there. Before your mom ever saw your face and kissed your cheek for the first time. Before your dad ever held you the first time. And I think what we miss is when we teach and preach that life begins at conception, you don't really see the atrocity of even abortion in this man. Hear you the word of the Lord, kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of armies, the God of Israel. Behold, I will bring evil on this place, which whoever hears his ears shall tingle. They and their fathers and the kings of Judah and have filled this place with the blood of innocence and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal, which I didn't command nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind. Therefore, behold, the days come, says the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Topheth nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter. I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life and their dead bodies I will give to be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth. Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting that the baby leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She called out with a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.
